  • well you can say, that steffi won the first tie-break, but conchita LOST the second one herself

  • martinez lost to graf 1-6 7-6 3-6 at Quarter final FO 95..

  • The diference of talent between this two players is so big, that even when Graf is not at her best, doing lots of unforced errors, specially in her tremendous forehand, and Martinez was playing suberb, Graf eventually wins in two tiebreaks...

Who said life was fair...? :-D

  • i wouldn't say Martinez was playing superb,

    but u have a point.

take the '94 FO semi-final, same story.

Graf came back from injury, Martinez was the player 2 beat on clay, and Graf won

  • Sorry, but Graf's FO94 semi-final was against Mary Pierce, who won the match, but eventually lost to Sanchez-Vicario in the final.

    Maybe 93, 95 or 96...?

  • @Querzeo i think it was 1995 when Conchi was the prohibitive favorite at Rolland Garros and Steffi came through to win. again.

  • @jrlassiter sorry, but nobody's (except probably Seles in 91 and 92) was actually favorite when Graf was playing arround. :-D

  • @Querzeo

    ooops.....you're right, it was '95....

  • Conchi just didn't have enough weapons to get past Graf.

  • I think she did not have the nerves, leading 4-2 in BOTH tiebreaks...

  • thanks ... I enjoyed watching this match :)
