An artistic success to present Asia as a beautiful place! Although I read that it was a commercial failure, it was shown in the Philippines and we watched it on a movie screen.
(I think 2 people need to take their hissy fit outside of this blog). This movie continues to grow on me; it's Thanksgiving today, and I found myself humming this song. And it fit very nicely, thank you.
Lost Horizons have a wise content that few know from where it comes. Is important to read more and look for some wisdom. Is a beautiful recreation about an old and eternal truth that ancient masters teached to us: harmony.
O.K., maybe this movie was chock - full of misconceptions & stereotypes about Tibetans & Buddhists, etc., with a pinch of schmaltz. It was an honest attempt at an homage to a great novel & original movie, & I liked it.
man + woman = child >this is reality no matter if your gay or not so lets all stop this issues of gays or whatever being superior...we'er all the same in the eyes of God
Superior? Right. So you mean to say that the grand over-poplulation of a planet is something to be proud about? Could've fooled me.
Indoctrinate? Because, of course, evangalists like you (and I think that my assumption here is a correct one) don't 'indoctrinate' people into your religious sects, right?

When was the last time you chose YOUR sexuality? Last tuesday? Oh, I take it back. Oh wait, no, YOU DIDN'T CHOOSE.
Boy, you do have a chip on your shoulder don't you...you need counselilng before you explode!!!! You and the gay radicals cry tolerance but are not tolerant of others opinons, double standard chump!!!
This song discriminates against widows, orphans, gays and all people who don't fall into their strict man + woman + child = family categorization. I and many of my friends have strong family units that are nor traditional man + woman + child definition, thank heaven! GOD IS LOVE. By the way, this song is not a very good piece of music.
I heard this song from the 5th Dimension first. It's Bacharach/David pop at it's finest but it seems out of place in Shangrala religous ceremony. I'd like to hear the High Priest's redition of "What's new Pussycat?"
can whoever has the "lost Horizon" movie upload all the songs? esp "frighten her away", "reflections", "different points of view" and "Lost Horizon". those are my favorite!!
This unfortunate piece of garbage is basically what broke up the Bacharach/David team. The 5th Dimension relased a version of this and they broke soon after. Too bad since Badharach and David were one of the bests composing teams ever.
Sometimes,a family is not the group of people were born to,but people who fill our lives.Thats why I think its important to stay involved with the world, and its people, because they can make better a family.
Never saw film, but had "album". I always liked music and this clip doesn't change that view. However, lyrics seem incredibly pedestrian. Was movie actually that bad?
This movie was one of the greatest 'bad' movies ever made. Its so dreadful that you end up loving every minute of it! Tibetans lost in time singing cheesy 70's Burt Bacharach / Hal David songs?? The lower half of all the 'Tibetan' buildings are a medieval castle - they reused the set from 'Camelot'. Its fantastic!!
This movie is PRICELESS! In fact, it's one of the most wonderful musicals ever made. Highly unconventional in it's mixture of straight drama and pop music, beautifully filmed and fun to watch. Why shouldn't Shangri-La be a slightly goofy place?
You just have to watch at what clip those 2 guys made from one of the songs from "Lost horizon " is the best -- better then the original . look for "BURT BACHARACH SONG " by captainvontrapp
HA HA HA HA!!! (THANK YOU for uploading this! Boy. Did it bring back memories. My parents played the soundtrack to Lost Horizon until we almost threw up!) An utterly rubbish film, but how FAB to see just a little clip of it again (at 42....I saw it when I was 8 and have never forgotten it...but kudos to me for knowing, at 8, that it was a stinker!) THANK YOU!
yeah, like I believe that. NO kudos for you at any age. However you do win the award for biggest cynic. LOST HORIZON is actually a wonderful mixture of straight drama and pop music, beautifully filmed and fun to watch. Why shouldn't Shangri-La be a slightly goofy place. The film is unique for it's score and the story is strong.
The Fifth Dimension re-release of this song is brilliant. One of my favorites. Did you post "The World is a Circle"? That song has helped me through so many dark times in my life...as Suze Orman would say, "I can't even BEGIN to tell you how much that song has helped me through." LOL
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Wow, this clip really helps illustrate why this is considered one of the biggest turkeys of all time: the cornball Burt Bacarach melody and hackneyed Hal David lyric, sung in the cheesy 1960s-70s choral arrangement, coupled with the phony-kitschy Himalayan setting and perfectly laughable staging and costuming, this takes bad to a whole new level.
This is the only clip from film I can find ..They were all on my favourites and they dissapeared! My fav. film music is (was) Lost Horizons . Please find!!

Or, you know, you could continue to troll on YouTube vids and post pointless messages that cause people to get pissed at you.
Oh, and you think I haven't heard that joke before? :-/

And double standards? You must be kidding me. Go learn something about what you're actually saying.

This is one of the most beautiful (and saddest!) tunes I've ever heard, because, having no family, hearing it just brings tears to my eyes.
Of all the things I've always wanted, a family was at the top of my list.
If you have one, you are so LUCKY!

What you wrtie is incredibly deep.

Scorpio - Don't be sad.
You have to know that there are many, many people who have families are not happy.
I'm 45 and no family (yet), not sure how life will be when my Mom is gone.
You got my thoughts and prayers.
PS This song kinda makes me sad too, because my Mom and Dad split up about when this movie came out.
I don't want to sound cliched. There is evidence everywhere of a very good and loving God...and part of it is right here. Hang in there! Rich
