  • If only it had realistic orbital physics, If a space station wasn't moving in reference to the planet, It would drop like a rock.

  • can not wait for it to came out

  • PC is rule!

  • I understand how procedural generation can help you guys build natural enviroments like planets. But what about cities, space stations and animals. You'll have to script them and it will take alot of memory.

  • @Ultermarto Nah bud, procedural generation can handle alot of that as well.. as a matter of fact.. most of it. The work that goes into it is pretty tedious. Procedural generation can pump out some weird shit if your not careful, but once you get your engine down, you can have it do pretty much anything. The thing is, they have to design a different procedural engine for the city, however it wouldnt be as hard as the planet generating one. I used to use procedural generation in old A++

  • Vaporware...

  • Vaporware. Announced years before Its release. "vaportalk" has no single definition. It is generally used to describe a hardware or software product that has been announced by its developer, but has not been released. Vaporlist, a list of companies that have announced their products too early, I'm hoping to dissuade them from this practice.

  • гавно полное

  • steven hawking just jizzed his pants

  • I have to say my favorite part of this is the zoom out at the end. It just looks so beautiful as you see the planet and then zoom out until all you can see of the planet is a small crest of it that is lighted and the shadow on its currently dark side.

  • Gorgeous

  • This game would make Carl Sagan shit bricks.

  • are u kidding me this outdated haha' thanx anyways i stare with amazement

  • Attention, this video is outdated , check out the new Tech Demo as of April 2010. "Infinity Pre-Alpha Tech Demo April 2010"

  • I hope there'll be businesses and discovery of planets / setting up colonies and harvesting materials on them. So it will be a player economy run game to allow the building of spacecraft (if you have the utilities and manufacturing building necessary ofc)

  • Just like Elite! Except elite looks like shit by today's standards and it comes on 2 floppies.

  • I want Elite 4

  • what was the point of

     that?

  • The Saturn-like planet should cast a shade on it's rings.

  • Join Ursova Industrial Group

I am looking for an experienced player to join in a mutual partnership with me to kick start U.I.G

  • i can't wait to play this...i down the combat prototype and is fantastic...it looks almost like evochron, and that's why is great

  • this game will be beautifull when its done.

  • No, Eve doesn't suck, it's just that most of you are fucktards and don't understand what you are missing out on...

  • @eduardvictor go look up Eve on Encyclopedia Dramatica

  • @Pvic Err, that isn't a valid reply because everyone knows that Enciclopedia dramatica is specifically made to make fun of everything in existence...

If you want non biased look for Eve Online on Wikipedia...

  • @eduardvictor they usually aren't far from the truth though.

  • What's with all the thumbs-downs? Alright, tell ya what . . . .

Fuck ya. Hope you like this game though.

  • EVE sucks. It's a spreadsheet with graphics.

  • Now I agree that EVE is awesome but the game got it's downsides and I hope this game will do things right where EVE did it wrong.

  • No to what?

  • Well, this game will.

  • I bet these types of games are fixing to take over in replacement of the space program, since we just converted back to the rocket age retiring every shuttle we no longer going to have, if only we had corporate sponsors that would be willing to fund a massive scale project that would land people into orbital space we could increase jobs like no one's business while advancing in space technology, think about it, we would need 100,000 people just to build the ships and thousands more to monitor

  • When its completed, this game is going to be something truly incredible. Ive been following for some time now and it just seems to get better and better.

  • By the way for those that don't know

This planet in this video isn't earth, and the ringed planet is not saturn

If we could see Saturn that big in our skies it would be as close as mars

  • lol much closer than Mars. The planet in this video is orbiting the Saturn-like planet, which would make the Earth-like planet a moon, technically.

  • What I meant is that this is not in our solar system, so I made an exaggerated comment on how close "Saturn" would be to "earth" at that distance... Some people really don't have any idea of how big our solar system really is...

  • Now I want to fly into Saturn and see what's on the surface! :)

  • i was so happy when i first found out about infinity.... was waiting for space sim since Elite and this looks to be exactly what im looking for, plus its an online game ... this is just too good to be true :)

  • Im hoping to get the law altered by the time this is out so that I can officially marry this game...

  • lol

  • Well, Mr. "GrandTheftAuto4Films", since the game isn't out yet, I'm surprised you got even 250 FPS.

  • 3500 amd and ati x800 retty oldschool in computer yrs

  • I ran the game at like 250fps, you'll be fine :)

  • Well if you're talking about the combat prototype then that isn't really a good benchmark seeing how many new features have been implemented into the engine since then, and lots of others are missing from the proto.

  • Sigh....I'd kill for a comp that can run this. It's like everything I wanted EVE to be.

  • Well it still has a ways to go before its out, so maybe by that time you will have a new computer.

  • @Maphysto so save your money up for a new pc? whats the problem?

  • @hcvang The problem is It's damn near impossible to find a job in my area, and even if I had one, all my money would go towards bills and food anyway.

  • Wow , the first space online game that'll allow you to enter a planet through the atmosphere. No loading BS.

  • it aint the first.....there is a game called evochron which was the first game to be able to do that with NO loading screens. I think the latest one is called evochron: legends ...that makes this the second game and the amazing thing is evochron was made by only ONE PERSON ALONE

  • Hmm, maybe its the same guy xD? Sounds interesting though

  • What about Elite? Never played it thought, but I think you can enter a planet thorught atmosphere in there aswell. Verry old game thought.

  • Elite is like 10-10y old and indeed u can do planetary travel and landing, no loading screens.

  • looks a lot like X3 which is a great game, only problem is it gets lonely :'( and blowing up AI pilots just isn't the same as real people :D Also X3 has no interaction with planets, which is nice to see in infinity. Looks great, just hope it doesn't go tits up, or they rush it out and turns out crap. But!!! looks great so far, good job!

  • turn down the shinyness, if a surface has windows and details, then obviously it's not perfectly mirror-shine flat

also I think the atmosphere isn't deep enough

  • hey! 2006! lol. im pretty sure it looks better by now

  • Dude, this is video from VERY early in the development, you can't expect everything to be perfect

and in the space station shot, that's how high the ISS would be and the lowest shots are extremely high.

and the planet is a moon

  • This looks epic, too the team working on it, it looks epicness.

  • This is exactly whats missing about the X series...wish they would get this into a game..fast.

  • this isn't out, is it? I'm looking desperately for a replacement for Homeworld...

  • nope, not out yet, probably won't even have a beta till end of 2009

  • try sins of a solar empire

  • they called it mod in the description

    a mod of what game?

  • Sorry, its not a mod, its a full game.

  • wow... two years and nobody said anything xD

  • are you sure its a trailOr... not a trailEr

  • Yes yes of course it's a-... No! It's a typo, thanks for being the first to point that out, lol.

  • sum peepul hav nuthink beter too du thentoo poynt owt tipos!!

  • FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFff

  • cant wait to play this, it will be my first space sim game ever, also I cant wait to see what elite 4 will look like, even tho I never played any frontier games, the realism and scale of these games are awsome!

one thing I was wondering is will planets have a south and north pole??? Because if I recall theres no sign of poles in most of the planets screenshots. Bye!

  • I'm not sure, all that stuff is still in the works so there might be poles.

  • I'm sure there will be, I mean there are millinons of planets!! so why not a few poles huh??

  • This is not vapourware. It's gonna be released within a year or 3 and it's gonna be unlike anything you've ever played on a PC. Eve can't touch this game. It's gonna be huge and accurate with enormous planets that you can actually land on in realtime. The oly games that can pull that off right now are Elite and Zavtra Voina (Tomorrow War).

  • yup. im going to cut my hands off and poke my eyes out if i can't play this

  • dont forget about Orbiter, the space exploration simulator...good game, annoyingly too realistic tho

  • @KingHaggis Three years later...

  • @Phelan666 yep, does this feel good for you? It sucks for me cause I would have wanted to play it by now.

Still, you can't say it's vapourware because since this trailer there have been new trailers showing off new work in progress. Check out the "new" (half year old) trailer, you'll be amazed. But you're right, the game hasn't been released yet. It may well take another year or three but I'm confident they are still working on it.

  • @KingHaggis said 3 years ago "This is not vapourware. It's gonna be released within a year or 3 and it's gonna be unlike anything you've ever played on a PC."

Yeah, sure. Not even the engine is finished, let alone the game which -basically- doesn't exist - except as nice wish list

  • Very impressive. But uh, any 'splosions or stuff?

  • get the prototype, there's lots of explosions

  • imagine this full with player

oh and y argue which is better wouldnt u prefer to have 2 gd games rather than 1

  • Ive red about it... lost their site tho... its gonna b finished by the end of 2007 and they dunno if they want to make it F2P or P2P... its cool im gonna pay for it it kicks EVE's ass all the way into Outer-OuterSpace... With a Hyperdrive in its Ass HAHA Owns!

  • lol end of 2007 ? sry but maybe u mean the end of 2009 or 08. its only one genious programmer, let him go at his own pace. expect a beta at like end of 08 or somthing.

  • NOBODY can or will start a EVE V. Infinity war.

Its like ROBLOX and BlockLand all over again - you can't compare something made by 2 seperate companies on 2 seperate game engines.

  • what are u talking about, this is simply a very old by now, engine test. You should really actually look in the forums for development to see how much the scale of this game crushes EVE lol

  • NOBODY can or will start a EVE V. Infinity war.

Its like ROBLOX and BlockLand all over again - you can't compare something made by 2 seperate companies on 2 seperate game engines.

  • sorry, double-posted.

  • coooool

  • this looks seriously seriously awesome.

  • WOw, that´s nice

  • Amazing. Don't listen to these fuck bags, this is awesome. Can't wait for this game to finish.

  • The outer space movement was cool at first but then it got boring. It went on forever, I see ur title so I guess that's the point. lol. Nice video.

  • eh eve is better than this

  • i wish eve online was like that

  • sounds like Metroid games

  • Cool!!!

What is the site to the end, i don't understand very much....

  • We're working on an advanced version for 2008 with real time rendering of inside ships, stations, buildings. We're now using the Reality Engine. www.artificialstudios.com

  • A good start. But there's nothing groundbreaking here.

Rendering a seamless world & wrappping a 'game' around it is a different story. Tech demos are not games.

My games rendered *entire* worlds (space + planet) since first proto in 1989. It became a game in 1996.

    I just released another one.

Play the demo for Universal Combat SE. The demo shows off all the game's features and tech.

    www.3000ad.com/products/ucse.shtml

  • this game IS rendering entire realistic worlds, about 11 billion so :P

  • Pretty cool!

  • This is how "Star Wars Galaxies" should have been. The only thing that would bother me here is that (from reading about it) you wouldn't be abble to go return to the same place you once wher... could you?

  • KICKASS! Watch out Will Wright! I'm posting this on our gaming site: Destructoid.com. Thanks for the footage KoolJ.

  • If you go to the link in the video you can download it in the media section.

  • idk I just like the vid :P

  • Yeah is this a mod for UT? if not then what engine is it using?

  • Read this: http://selectivegamers.com/content/view/666/144/

  • very impressive

  • good UT map!

  • If that's a ut map i'd like you to prove it.

  • omg,i cant believed i wasted my time looking at that, at least "Myst" had a coonflict in the trailor.

  • I didnt mean to say trailor, its not a trailor. Its a graphics engine demo.

  • Cool vid I never seen any thing like it.
