  • it sounded really good at some parts, but it is clear this wasn't practiced enough. At some points it sounded like it was going to fall apart ! And there were some wrong notes! With some more practice it can definitely sound great.

  • im in reg band playing clarinet in 9th grade and its a really fun song to play but when we first started playing it, i hated it because it was so hard :( its easier now though so its fun :)

  • Not bad but their Low Brass (ie: trombones, baritones, tubas) need to Much louder.

  • Very nice song. Chorale and Shaker Dance II is a bit better though. Good performance! =]

  • there are some good players in here, soloists are generally good, but the large ensemble playing at letters E and G, for example, needs a lot of work. you can't force this piece on a band that's not ready, even CSD2 is harder than you think.

  • Not exactly the best rendition of this piece I've ever heard. Some bits were just a complete blur. Work on how you sound together and balancing the melody and other parts

  • Sorry! I didn't mean to spam you!

  • this is a really hard song.

i give this band props for playing this.

right now my band is playing it for festival, and it's coming along, lil by litttle.

hopefully we can pull it together we got 5 weeks left.

  • This Is Chorale And Shaker Dance II

  • Wow, this is...terrible.

  • Eeek. A little more practice...

  • this is incrediblely horrible. the flute clarinet and alto sax soloists are doing the best job here. otherwise trumpet trombones and others it wasn't a great job. u guys seriously need to stay together and learn to play. im in a middle school band and we are near to perfecting this piece. this is how we sounded when we were sightreading it. poor job. sorry..

  • played this song at our school, and its intense!

  • i want to show u a video of my schools marchign band a friend of mines parent made it, i am in the middle fo settign up a video for our concert band. leave soem comments

  • i agree with him no offense , reason is their dynamics were bland and not very empahsized.

  • this is one of the hardest pieces to play...my high school band is trying to play it for our concert later this year...

  • it really isnt im part of my highs chools band and we are playign it also but it is easier han peopel think.

  • the brass section needs some definet work

  • Ouch! Sounds like you guys need to watch the conductor cuz you guys are soo offbeat. and I don't hear second and third clarinets. I should know cuz my band's playing this song this year. You need more brass, especially low brass. High winds sound way too loud on some parts. Learn to balance with low winds.

  • it seems u knwo what ur talkign about it true they do need mroe low brass and it is so out of tune that andthey really arent meshing togeth. they dont balance well. But its nothign practice wont fix.

  • To maney Flutes. Extrances weren't togeather at some part other than that very nice

  • they were actually ok as a flutist my self i find that entrances on thsi song cna be some what diffucult.

  • Ooch! come on people... surely you can give critique without being pure bitch's.

Thank you Kanobender I found this very interesting & enjoyed it greatly :)

...music being expression of soul should never be insulted, especially by others who think having imitation down pat is 'creative'.

  • A little disappointing guys. Sounds like more time should've been devoted to practicing this piece.

Where's mallet percussion? Is there? You guys really need to work on dynamics. crescendos and decrescendos make all the difference, and the xylo part at M should've been louder.

    Um, timpani? where'd you go?

The whole band needs to watch. Really guys. Overall, watch, work on timing and dynamics, and for god sakes', bring out the percussion more!

  • The partial reason why this isn't good is the video quality and the acoustics of the room. But that's no excuse for the lack of confidence during entrances. Also, the band seems to be off-tempo. I'm also not a big fan of the song's interpretation, but that's the director's choice.

  • Uhh... allshore's better xD

  • im in an 8th grade band and we sound way better that this

  • Is there only one clarinet, for the solo, and why is there only one flute?

Oh my goodness, sounds like a mess. Try harder. :(

  • 6th-12th grade for this band.

  • haha oh wow

    they were so off

haha we won superstate with this song

    doesnt sound the sameeee

    :O

  • Haha thoats so weird, my honors band , KVMEA played that exact same version this past weekend.

  • my band is playing this piece now. In my opinion this is an overall good performance, but they weren't prepared to perform it, they would have done a nice job on Chorale and Shaker Dance II. I don't understand why conductors feel like its easier to us to play when they conduct the 2/2 parts in 4. i think that it is harder that way.

  • im in 10th grade...the honor band is playing this song...i play tuba...its kinda hard at first but i love it its soo much fun!!

  • WOW.... that was bad!!... wow off tempo... the whole band really got lost and just didn't know the music! WOW!

  • yeah... watch the tempo... too much rushing!

  • welll im only in middle school 8th grade

    so yeah

    were playing this song

    and yeahh

you guys kinda messed up like a lot around section E but yeahhhh

its ok i dont even know if wee will play it that good but maybe

    MUUUAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAA

  • well actually there's an acellerando and ritard part in the beginning, so the conductor can move whichever way he wants to, but tuning, could be better. this is a hard song to get perfect. i've played it so many times in so many bands.

  • They have weak horns and they don't have a good playing space.

The accellerando in the beginning isn't too bad.

    For alto saxes the opening is B A G# B C A B A G# And its that last BAG# that speeds up.

    Also the drums are off.

  • wow they never heard of tempo

  • Awful, utterly awful. I really think that this band doesn't know what "tempo" means. Ugh, the entire band was off. My band is playing this piece next week for our winter concert, I now know what not to play like.

  • We played it for our winter concert too. We did ok on it. Really good, but we're a really good band so it should have been much better.

  • yeah, pretty sloppy

  • you should type in "Derick's Field Conducting Performance" and listen to arroyo high school wind ensemble play this piece much better.

  • sloppy at parts. at parts, the first clarinet sticks out a lot.

  • Decent, but kind of sloppy

  • those who thinks this piece is hard...think again. Played this back in grade 12 and did the 1st Clariney Solos...I love the piece, I still listen to it.

This piece is easy compared to other pieces I've played like Hounds of Spring or Masque

  • It takes a lot to play that song, good work.

  • My school's band played this last year for our district MPA. Got all superiors, but we couldn't take it to state because it wasn't "our grade". It's an amazing piece once it's played well, and our amazing trombone section(including me) tore the melody section a new one. It was incredible.

  • 2:36 is also horrible and too slow.

  • YUCK. at 2:10 to 2:25.

  • rushing WAYY too much. all off time.

  • Our Band in learning at the moment. We started playing it two days ago and it sounds good.

  • The Alto Sax and Flute Duet at 1:36 Is really good, it was a little fast, but it was one of the better parts of the piece

    haha Good job

    =DD

  • serious lack of percussion parts..

  • ur sax and trombone r good but SULTANA r better

  • first off: when my high school played this (rancho cucamogna h.s.) we kicked ass! it was amazing..

second: anyone else remember seeing rcc's winterguard do a performance to this song? it was sometime between the 98 and 00 seasons.. i know that's dating myself but i remember that show so clearly and i've looked everywhere for a vid.

  • That was pretty good. My wind ensemble is playing this for our spring concert.

  • God i laove that trumpet solo at 8:40

  • Nice. you guys did a great job. my favorite part was at 8:44. our band performed this too except we had more percussion parts. go figure. we are Arroyo High School check us out if you want to. great job though.

  • wow. thats the really simplified version. My band knows the advanced version. good job though

  • i always disliked the intro. it's so awkward and stuff.

but i love the song. :]

    good job~!

  • one more thing. I like to critizize bands, so here it goes. your brass are way too soft, your timpani didnt hit the first note loud, which you are supposed to do, your trumpets could use some extra practice, your bass drum could barely be heard, your lower brass was barely present, your snare drum is too soft, the flute trill is off, and you need realy timpani.

  • I lost the vid, so I will send you the link to my band. it sounds a WHOLE LOT BETTER! we did this like 2 years ago. for some reason, I cant post an url, so I have to break it up.

  • soundclick.(change this to com)
