It doesn't seem like money is really an issue, so why go with an AMD FX 8150 over an intel I7 ?? Those FX 8150s don't even out perform the phenom x4's when it comes to gaming?? toms hardware .com/reviews/gaming-fx-pentium-apu-benchmark,3120-10.html
I was thikning about getting a second GTX 570 but I am reluctant. I have the gigabyte SOC version, which is the fastest 570 on the market. Problem is it has the stock memory of 1280mb. If I were to crossfire I would have roughly 2.5gb of Vram. I want to run 3 monitors. Would you say....
A)sell my 570 and go with a single 7970
B)Sell my 570 and grab 2 6970 in CF
C)Grab a second Gigabyte GTX570
The card pretty much spanks any game but I am afraid across 3 monitors
@lamiac2411 Well to start when you crossfire and sli you dont gain any more vram you still have 1280mb(gtx 570). This is a common mistake that many ppl make. Across 3 monitor if you want to play at max resolution you will need a card with more vram. So maybe the ati 6970s would be better. I have herd bf3 uses more than 2gb of vram on displays above 1080p sometimes so the ati 7970 is probably your best bet. also waiting for sli and crossfire profile updates for new game can suck.
@Filoz64 not under full load but they are not at full load very often. Currently im playing swtor and in sli both gpus max out at 40% each in that game so they are not very load then.
I have a question,i am going to be buying the same cpu+mobo, but i will be getting some G.SKILL Sniper Low Voltage Series 8GB (2 x 4GB),and i am going to have to reuse most of my other parts for now,and i'm wondering if with the GTX 460 SE i currently have, would those parts run ok for a little(2 weeks to a month)on an Ultra X-Pro 600w PSU(if this helps the PSU puts out 432w @ 36A on the +12v).
did you have to update the crosshair v bios to work with the fx 8150 or did it come with the updated bios already? if so where did you buy it from? thanks
@ahoosein96 i had to update it because i purchased the crosshair v in july??? or whenever they where released. i Bought it from Canada Computer. I buy 90% of my stuff there.
how do you like the crosshair V formula? I am thinking of buying this board after christmas. It a toss up between this and the Gigabyte 990fx UD7. Have you had any issue with the crosshire V with the intel lan or other features? I have heard some people had trouble with this motherboard, but it looks like a solid board to me.I would also like to ask if you used the 4 pin molex connector that is on the motherboard for extra power for the graphics cards. I plan on running 2 AMD card in crossfire.
@SylentCommando loving the corsshair v. I had a little trouble with the intel lan but once in updated the driver it was fine. I dont not use the 4 pin molex connector for the gpus. The bios is easy to get through but i have seen the ud7 and its bios looks nice aswell. They are pretty even boards its all preference i guess. Watch this video it shows overclocking on the ud7 and corsshair v. /watch?v=8u7MIwphuoE
i have a fx-8150 processor, 4gbx2 transcend hyperx ddr3 ram, 1gb 5570 ddr5 graphic card by xfx ati, gigabyte 880ga-ud3h motherboard but after assembling the machine it says that the clock speed of my processor is 2.81 ghz what may be the problem?? the factory speed mentioned on the box is 3.6 ghz. What am i supposed to do? also upgraded the bios before installing the processor. Please help!!!
what will you rate the cpu out of 10. im planning on buying this cpu but im not sure if its worth. my second choice is intel 980 but its kind of half of the 8150: could you reply quick cos i just want to know you opinion
@urgettinghacked I am not 100% sure what i would give it compared to a intel because i haven't used one since the core 2 era. Looking at the benchmarks this seems slower than the sandy bridge for single threaded applications, It about even on multi threaded, and the amd 8150 beats the sandy bridge in most gaming benchmarks. If you going to go intel go sandy bridge like the 2600k over the 980. I guess to answer your question i would give the amd fx 8150 a 8/10.that may go higher as i use it more
@CullensTechVlog the 8150 does not beat the 2500K, the 2500k beats the 8150 in MOST tests especially gaming. Bulldozer was a huge fail. if you want more threads than get the 2600K.
@CapcomsHero with prime 95 running for 2 hoursishon Stock vcore & clock speeds i see 38 Celsius. At 1.42vcore and 4.5 ghz clock speed i see 54ish.(8 hours prime 95)
@CullensTechVlog are those temps cpu temps or cpu core temps? How far have you pushed the chip to date. Is 4.5 or have you pushed it further for benching.
same score as i have give or take but im runing 3x6970, for some reason it wont go higher and my vantage score is only 29500 and less than my 1090T and that was running the Asus Ares GPU.
I'm planing on building a rig in april with the FX-8170 that is coming out right then, and i plan on getting the same case, but do you think a cooler master hyper 212+ evo(set up with push pull)would be good enough to to keep the bulldozer cpu cool?
Also i'm am going to start with one 6970,but get 1 or 2 more later on when prices go down on them,so for that how much wattage should my psu be?Would a corsair 850W be enough?
@trainergames It should keep the bulldozer cool(depending on how much you plan on ocing it). As for the power supply If you do plan on getting 3 6970s later i would go at least 1000w. If you plan on just going with 2 the 850w should be enough but if you oc your cpu alot it might not be. I bought the Corsair 1200w even though its a little more then i need but it has a 7 year warranty and will be in my next pc. With power supply i like to future proof myself a little.
@CullensTechVlog Do you have any other suggestions for my rig,my budget will be around $1500,i'm asking cause it will be my first build and i don't want to screw it up.
@ExtremeGamerReviews this is a amd place :) keep in mind in amd didn't make processors and if people like me didn't support them. The Intel products would be twice the price at half the innovation due to no competition. Plus this more then i need for the next little bit till the next AMD cpu comes out that still works on the AM3+ sockets. So at least i don't have to upgrade my mobo.
@ffab101p121 it looks a little better with the side on. The white light bleeds into my side led fan and it looks kinda cool. I was going for a Canadian theme(sorta). Im still moving them around and experimenting with different colours. Something to do when im bored but there are to many games to play now. lol
@audigamer1, upgrade to a 850wt or higher for sli with these cards. running sli with a 620wt psu will starve all your other components for power and eventually can burn them up .If money is a issue, check out Antec psu's.. Antec makes some decent psu's that do not cost alot. I have been using them for years with no problems. I have seen the 1000wt modular psu for as cheap as 150usd, there are other brands for cheap also. feel free to check out my 570sli build and my build change vids
@audigamer1 lol well i bought the asus crosshair v like 4 months ago so i kinda committed to amd at that point. still doesn't seem like a bad processor for the money from what i have read. I am going to be doing some benchmarks soon.
@CullensTechVlog a lot of channels proved that the i5 2500k was more powerful with both clocked at 4ghz. sorry you had to keep an amd build.not that im saying it's bad because its more than what i got.
