I work as a ceiling fixer ( thats what its called in England Uk ) and if you are good you can earn a lot of money. We have our own business near london it takes 4 years to learn properly :)
putting up grid is one of the most desired jobs on a jobsite, but the ceiling tiles themselves suck. Even with saftey goggles on you still get all that white shit in your eyes and you'll almost certainly get impaled from time to time by ceiling wire. man, construction has got to be the roughest business on ones body.....dudes who do this shit all thier lives are just as battered as professional athletes toward the ends, or in my case middle, of thier careers.
them two fixers dont know what there doing if they nock the main runner that hole side will end up on the floor.and its not easy at all ive seen people that call there self fixers but they are all have ago heros
hi mate its mostly price work but u have a fall back rate of £12 per hour which is shit whats it like in the u.s its the best trade on site i also do partitions which is good aswell
@hardontoss well over here they pay da same like 12dollars an hour hey u know how i can get a job over there but am real far from scotland i live in texas usa
yes you can make a fortune do u,s do just grid ceilings over here we do all different types its very quiet over here now and not a lot of big money to be made
We can make a lot of money in short bursts here. You just have to be quick putting them up. I would never do a ceiling on an hourly rate has to be a m2 rate.

I do a lot of suspended ceilngs and find it much better than doing plastering or drywall.

Your not wrong there I did a 70m2 ceiling the other day and pocketed $1500 for 6 hrs work. Wish I could get them every week like that.

I hate installing ceiling tiles. IT SUCKS!!!

It takes more brains than sheetrock. The boxes of material can be almost as heavy as drywall. It pays better than drywall.

yeah give me suspended ceilings all day please,
as a sub contractor in the UK (Wales) i do them for a hourly rate of £30 upwards,
it's a doddle with a good laser level, once you have your wall rails up your away, singing to the chimes of the radio.

installing ceilings is probably the easiest thing to do on the jobsite. compared to rocking anyway...
