  • Something to consider for those who own a PT Cruiser. Chrysler recommends premium gas for the models equipped with the Turbo engine but for those with this standard engine, I personally recommend using mid grade gas (89 octane) over regular (87). I tried this in mine and it has made a world of a difference in it's performance. I feel like I'm getting max power out of the engine and the acceleration has improved quite a bit. Premium isn't recommended for a non performance engine though.

  • Haha my mother had two of these! They both had multiple problems, she traded her last one in 08 on a New Cadillac DTS, which is another shitty unreliable car! And she finally traded that DTS in on a new Subaru last fall, and as much as I hate to admit it, but it seems Japan has us beat on reliability now.

  • i love this car, even the top comment said it most hated.. "MOST HATED"????..

  • My mother has a green one she loves it to death...me on the over hand not soo mutch, like my Mini cooper D more :)

  • i love this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jesus Christ, is there a freaking comment that isn't saying this car is ugly or a piece of shit. Its not that bad. I like the PT Cruiser. I would drive one!!!!

  • The PT cruiser is most definitely one of my least favorite cars!

  • I have this car and I love it. If u dont get that its a retro take on the old woodys that surfers used here in SoCal, then u would hate it!. I think it looks great, especially cruising to the beach with my longbourd on top!...and Im not alone...there are tons of em here!...my other car is a bmw z4!

  • Kyle, only you can make this car look better than it actually is . . .

  • I hate this car so much... :( Why would Chrysler make such garbage cars like the PT Cruiser?

  • I hate the PT Cruiser because it's not only ugly, but it's also one of the worst cars ever made!

  • @b67717 If it was garbage then why did Chrysler sell so many of them?? HMMM??? I guess they're just awful given that and the fact that you think they're ugly. Plus, I bet you haven't even owned one so how can you say it sucks? Because that's what everyone else says? I've got one and haven't had any issues, it's a great car. I just put 500 miles on it in the past few days and it drove like a champ. It's now got over 50k on it and I intend to prove you haters wrong by getting it up to 300k.

  • @mhtube01 obviously most of these people just watched fast and furious and are now suddenly experts

  • @cgletts Lol yes it would seem that way. I haven't seen that movie in a long time, I don't recall them having one of these in it. Idk why they just can't keep their mouths shut and stop hating on cars they don't like and let the people who actually appreciate it comment on it.

  • PT Cruisers are ugly, so grow out of it!

  • they are sure ugly

  • when ever i see one i punch my dad well any ugly car.

  • I have a 2006 PT Cruiser that is very similar to this one except it's the inferno red color and the dash has the silver center console and red on the sides to match the exterior. Great little car and I have no idea why people hate it so much. I generally prefer older cars but this car has very simple, easy to use electronics which I love. It rides nicely and is a very easy to drive car. It's a small car but it's got a ton of personality and I highly recommend it. I've got videos of mine too.

  • @mhtube01 its hated coz its soooo ugly

  • @ewandenis Well I like the look of this car. Come on you can't say this is uglier than cars like the Nissan Cube! That thing looks like a clown mobile! I know everyone has their own taste in cars and the PT is usually a love it or hate it kind of car. I've grown to appreciate it more as I've owned mine and they're fun to drive. That's the thing about them. You really need to drive one and discover all of the personality it has behind the wheel. They're not that powerful but they handle great.

  • @mhtube01 yeh to be honest i much rather look this than a nissan cube. its kinda common in the uk though

  • These cars are cheap as hell. Took one for a test drive once with my buddy. He ended up with the caliber instead.

  • I used to be kinda disapointed my parents bought this for my first car cause I thought they were slow, cheap, unreliable, etc. *however* I drove it for several years without a single issue. I did wreck it though (not my fault) and the airbags deployed and the "crunch zones" did their job. I walked away from a crash.. (car totaled) fine. So after that I had to kinda appreciate the little car. I think it depends on jow attentive an owner a car has a lot of the time when it comes to reliability.

  • @Jtdrake21 I agree with you about owners determining a car's reliability. I have a PT and I actually love the car. I was hit by a Chevy Silverado in mine (guy had no clue where he was going) and it did it's job protecting me. After both driver side doors were replaced, the car looks like nothing ever happened to it and it's my first car too. But anyway, even cars that have an overall bad rep can be decent if well taken care of. No car will ever last if the owner neglects it.

  • I have never seen a Chrysler PT Cruiser do 120mph nor do I want to

  • garbage..

  • Omg what's with american cars and having to make beeping noise for every action

  • @Mcmerc01 why you got something wrong with the door chime

  • @MyFord04 American cars chime for everything! Its the most irritating noise!

  • @Mcmerc01 Trust me every car has a different chime on it every company has its own door chime thing thats annoying listen to a honda civic or an accord american model

  • @MyFord04 Seems to be all cars in the United States?

  • @Mcmerc01 basically but some countries have it on their cars

  • @Geekoman1256 There are very few objective good things to say about this car when compared to its competitors

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology Oh Really.

  • omg this car is so awful!

  • @arielatom03 wrong

  • @Geekoman1256 nop.

  • @arielatom03 What? What is that word? Anyway how can I take advice from a guy who doesn't know how to spell "nope". MR ARIEL ATOM OVERPRICED

  • i was at the rental car place and i had a choice between one of these or a 2009 mazda 3. I took the mazda and then later bought one

  • As usual, wonderful review.. as for the car, not so much haha.

  • What song was playing at 1:24???

  • my uncle had one 2006 it randomly died

  • This is totally a Ladies car. Guys don't particularly look good driving a PT Cruser.

Just like the VW Beetle and Toyota Solara.

  • braydenmartindale is right. I finally understand why these things sold so well. They seem very useful and practical and stylish inside, but the big downer is the interior fit and finish and quality. What a shame! Chrysler might've made a modern classic otherwise.

  • My friend had a car liket his and is it normal if when u have air coditioning on and ur just sitting in a road does air just poof like every couple minutes?

  • @TheMickiemouse98 No thats not normal, my grandma's 2009 does not puff or poof, just consistent like all other cars A/C

  • @braydenmartindale Ok because i dont know what model year it was but, one day they were in front of our house and they had the window down and the air coditioning on and the car and right in the front of the car, u would hear a sound and see something by the front of the tire and it was like a spray thing.

  • Grandma car, I never liked these or the HHR. The whole retro design angle is meh.

  • cars don't need rev limiters...cars are meant to be put to the test, not be held back by a stupid computer that only lets it rev up around 3-4,000 rpm.:)

  • Never understood why dealers stick their logos onto the body of the cars. Just use a license plate frame so it can be easily removed if the customer doesn't want it.

  • There's that sexy Ford Fairlane... :) ;)... and then there's that ... PT Crusier... *sigh*

  • in Romania, this was the winner for "the worst car ever" contest, no joke.

  • @stefann1989v2 I bet those damn Dacias were strong contenders for that title as well.

  • @wotan20 yea, but those Dacias have more sales in a month than this has in one year.

  • @stefann1989v2 That's the domestic advantage. Who would dare to look unpatriotic in the land of Count Dracula?

  • @wotan20 as almost half of the continent.

  • @stefann1989v2 so a dacia logan or sandero is better than this.

  • @Carnut91 i didn't said that.

  • The one practical use of pt cruisers: /watch?v=17XBW5OZdOM

  • hm...the 2002 pt cruiser that my mom had was better than this... it didn't have side airbags but the interior was better too.. had power mirrors and the horn sounded much more deeper that this one.. It saves gas but the safety is what worried me..

  • PT Cruiser's are unsafe too..

  • kyle, what was the handles down in the back of the seats?

  • What's sad is that the same guy who designed the Chevy Malibu designed this.

  • The P.T Cruiser is a very reliable car, it also has a lot of room. don't forget good gas mileage. you guys are judging it just on looks. the look that Chrysler came up with is a combination of one of their 1930's cars and their (at the time of the first P.T cruiser) their newest mini-van.

  • @glowingfinger The gas mileage is horrid for a small car, it only gets EPA estimate 26 MPG highway. Other small cars are getting almost double that.

  • Bit aged technology in this one for a 2008 model, the engine for example, 150hp & 165ft/lb in a 2.4l? Most European manufacturers get that amount from a 1.6 nowadays. But the tour was once again amazing Kyle! Great stuff, keep up the good work.

  • horrible looking car, but still interesting to see :)

  • the 2000-2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser was assembled in

    Toluca, Mexico

    Graz, Austria (2002, Magna Steyr)

  • @Annihilator1111 What about 2000-2005 models, and the 2nd generation 2006-2010. Are those at the same plant or another?

  • @braydenmartindale yep they were made in the same plant i think in austria it was only for 1 year i think for the european market but all the other models were made in Mexico

  • one of the ugliest cars ever made

  • @HarwoodTech What about the HHR?

  • @HarwoodTech jackass

  • @HarwoodTech Your gay and wrong. I bet you like the nissan cube. The nissan cube is the most ugly car in history.

  • @Geekoman1256 wow, I feel so offended, how did you come up with such an amazing insult?. back to the cube thing I hate that as well, there is a lot of shitty cars out there.

  • @HarwoodTech True, the PT Cruiser is very ugly!

  • I like the PT Cruiser

  • I would take a hhr over a pt cruiser

  • @LGCOOKIEable Oddly enough the same designer who made this car, also did the HHR

  • do they still make them any more ?

  • i'm so glad that chrysler dropped the pt loser. they're were hardly any people who bought this new last year.

  • In Russia, this model is called a chair without a back. (stool)

  • @MrSeninol and you know that stool is another word for shit. that pretty much describes that car.

  • My mom owns a 2005 and we like to call it the pt crapster because its always broken. Has 64,000 miles and already replaced the water pump, the cooling fan, as well as fixing some torn axle boots and a leaking battery and thats all within a month.

  • Friends GF has the same exact car, color and all -- took me a few minutes to find the window switches while I was in the backseat.

  • I can't imagine how hard it was to do this vid on this car when you lost a perfectly good lexus to a PT loser

  • Ex-rental.

  • pt loser am glad they don't make them any more

  • I wish I can argue in favour of this car, because the design had so much promising potential, Alas that's not the case, because I've rented this car once in the early 2000's and it made me strongly skeptical about it. I could've lived with its sluggish performance, but what really bothered me about this car the most, are its vicious blindspots, due to its badly placed and beefy A pillars in conjunction with the C pillars. It not only made me feel insecure, but also claustrophobic as well.

  • They're not that bad...to me. I drove one and it felt very zippy. I was considering to make it into a SCCA Road Race car. The 2.5 engine pulls very good and the suspension handles/grips well. Install some hi-perf parts on it and have fun....there are other/better choices out there but, for the money....why not? I may next year?

  • WHERE"S MY 'AMMER?!

  • Seriously what is wrong with youtube. I'm enjoying a saabklye04 video and all of a sudden an ad just decides to play without permission and i can't pause or mute it!

  • My grandma has the same exact car. I met the man who designed the PT his name is Paul Thomas Cruze. Shame Chrisler let it rot to shit over its 14 year life. It could have been carried on into a great car.

  • haha I call it PT Loser.

  • It's a Loser Cruiser!

  • People already mentioned what's wrong with these things so I wont touch on that. However I hardly think this is the worst car ever I'm pretty sure there are Chinese and Russian car brands that produce far worse.

  • RIP PT Cruiser. You were a nice car.

  • i have a friend who drives this and we always make fun of him lol

  • probably the biggest abomination in vehicle history.

  • How did someone drive this for 62 thousand miles?

  • All thanks to chrysler by making this pile of shit

  • OMFG... Who designed that sit? And who's buying it?!! :O

  • @AlexF931 Paul Thomas Cruze, he also did work on the H2 and a vew other GM cars and trucks

  • Oh forgot to mention, for a small car it's a f*cking pig on gas, the thing only gets 25MPG at BEST, hell I've seen trucks and SUVS with better MPG....

  • I don't really like to admit it, but these are fairly practical and surprisingly roomy and easy to drive(not that you'd want to be seen in it though)

As usual with Chryslers though, the quality sucks. My grandma's 2009 PT horn broke already, the car has less than 20,000 miles on it!

  • @braydenmartindale That is true, it has also dropped in popularity. These are the main reasons I can hardly see any of them on the road nowadays.

  • @lakeb0dom I see lots in my area but they all seem to be first generation, maybe that was a little more reliable than the 2nd generation or maybe it's just a coincidence.

  • @braydenmartindale yea i was looking @ pt crusisers when i was lookin for my first car (ended up being a 2001 honda crv) but my first choice was the pt cruiser we kept finding pt cruisers with blown engines at 60k miles.

  • @undeadguy2 you should buy a japanese car

  • @undeadguy2 I have never seen a Chrysler vehicle with even half decent quality. It feels like the most cheaply made vehicle ever...

  • @braydenmartindale

Have your grandma taken her PT Cruiser to the dealership? For that milleage one could expect a dead fuse, not the horn itself. That´s what happened with my previous car, a 2000 Stratus after 85,000 miles. After the fuse replacement (10 bucks at much) its horn was working again like new.

  • @luisinhoens90 I checked the fuses myself, they were good so we took it to the dealer, Chrysler said they would charge even though it's in warranty, so we took it to our regular mechanic and hey told us the horn itself was seized.

  • @braydenmartindale

Sorry to hear that, but at least it wasn´t a major part (engine, tranny, suspension, steering. . . ). After that previous car I got I have learned to trust in Chryslers, they can be quite reliable, at least mine was that way.

  • @luisinhoens90 Meh, every Chrysler I have ever personally owned has been horrid, two of them had complete transmission failures and one engine started burning oil before the coolant system eventually blew up. I heard quality has improved but the 2009 PT Cruiser doesn't seem to show it!

I'll be sticking with Volkswagen and Subaru from now on, both of them have been so reliable and good to me. Plus, my brother has a 2003 VW golf TDI and the thing has over 400,000 miles on it still going strong!!

  • i like the turbo pts these non turbos are pt losers :P

  • People think that this car is like a hot rod but it isnt

  • my friends dad calls them RJ losers

  • i have a 2005 pt cruiser gt (the turbo model) and it's actually a really nice car so screw all the PT haters!!!

  • @JP13829 my gramma had a 2003 in electric blue

  • xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    The worst car EVER!

    Disgustingly ugly and repulsive!

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • WORST CAR EVER. British Leyland made better cars.

  • I gotta say that the attempt to look "retro" fails miserably with this car. It looks really cheap inside. My mom almost convinced us to get one of these. Thank goodness we didn't!!

  • @Jakeman2164 lol its even bad for a rental car

  • Such a cute car.......

    NOT!

  • PT BRUISER

  • how much does it cost? apart from big engine, it is fugly and looks cheap! worst sound too!

  • @bajukuyup like 13,000 USD an used off course

  • who would drive this pos around?

  • ape's car from viva la bam. lol

  • @celsovera91 dude thats what i thought of too!

  • it deserves to be said again: PT Loser.

  • wow look at all that cheap plastic inside.

  • i hate the shape of this car but kyle did a good tour on it...

  • There's too many people that doesn't like this car, but i like! Looks like a 1950's car.

  • I don't like this car

    but

    is better than Prius

    haha

  • @Xtwqedfaghyuinm I guarantee you would take a 2008 Prius over this.. I know I would for the gas mileage

  • @Xtwqedfaghyuinm i agree man prius's suck

  • @starwarsloverful :D lol

  • drivin by angrily feminists!

  • this is a good video but pt cruisers are just a junk

  • the pt Loser!

  • a chevy hhr is better.

  • While I don't find this car completely repulsive, I don't like its bad fuel mileage, bad build quality, and the stigma associated with driving one. Mazda 3 is what I'd get instead.

  • underpowered, cheaply made, unreliable, fugly, GAY

What do all of these have in common? All are attributes to this pos known as the PT Cruiser.. ew.

  • When Kyle Makes A Bad Video The World Will End

  • everything in this car sits so awkwardly low. I love chrysler, but I don't love the pt.

  • get me a sledgehammer

  • The interior of these are horrid and the gas mileage is bad for a car this size.

  • The window switches are placed very oddly....

  • this is quite possibly the WORST CAR ever in HUMAN history...

not to profile, but the only people who drive these cars are crazy 40 somethings in Hawaiian shirts or fat chicks

  • @cargecko007 What? the Prius is worse

    hahah

  • @Xtwqedfaghyuinm um no it's not

  • @Xtwqedfaghyuinm Prius is a good car. If you're worried about saving gas, and it isn't nearly as FUGLY as this car.

  • @cargecko007 they are okay when it comes to gas mileage but my aunt had a 01 cruiser and it developed a overheating problem and if you would put it in neutral and rev it up it would cool back off but she drove it like that until the motor blew but I know what you mean I dont like them at all

  • @cargecko007 Believe me, there are worse things about the PT Cruiser than that. Like, these cars are so unreliable and they break easy. And not to mention, for the small size of that thing, it was the worse gas mileage I've ever had! Especially since it's a 4 cyl.

  • @cargecko007 its a meh car, i'd take it over a plymouth reliant. i do however think the window swithes are retarded. and that its fwd.

  • @cargecko007 Lol so true. Here's a story: one time my car was in the dealership for maintanance so I rented a car and they gave me this ..."car"... so I was driving and I honked the horn for a second and the horn got stuck so I was driving for like 5 miles with the horn sounding. I couldnt help it but laugh. Really shows the quality of these pieces of crap. Not to mention how slow they are.

  • @cargecko007 my gramma had the turbo version boy that sum bitch was fast

  • @cargecko007 whats wrong with the pt cruiser

  • @drewster1515 - I don't like the newer ones (2006+) because i feel like Chrysler killed the PT from that point on. and I own a 2001 PT. 107k on the clock and still going great.

@cargecko007 - Trust me the PT is far from the worse car ever, there is far worse cars then it by a long shot.. and I drive one and I don't fit into either of two spots your talking about. The design is very much so love or hate though.

  • @cargecko007 well thank you

  • @cargecko007 Not true, I mostly see young hot ladies driving these. Fat dudes drive Explorer's!

  • @talldude123 wow, wish i lived where you do man, hot chicks in PTS?!?!? and lol i used to have an explorer :D

  • Probably because PT's are cheap! The hot chicks can save more money for
