  • Are websites that offer game testing start up guides and ways to land jobs in game testing legit?? for example becomeagametester(dot)com or is it just a big scam?

  • I looked everywhere on their site and searched local EA QA tester job openings... absolutely nothing in Atlanta Georgia. What I did find out though, is that if you live in California then you're in luck because that seems to be where every QA job is being offered. Help me :'(

  • Anyone know the approx annual salary for this position??

  • I'm a QA tester at electronic arts FT department and one of the things I like is the fact that it's never the same, you always get new stuff to do, of course there are some basic stuff that you must do at every game, but the rest is different and it can be really fun, also the studio is awesome. The only part that kind of sucks is the payment...But they do know how to keep us interested with their Christmas party. :) It's a great way to start your career that's for sure.

  • @0lvl When I searched QA jobs up one of the requirements is to have 5-8 years of testing experience. How do you even get that requirement when first starting out.

  • @DumbNJKids I think you searched the wrong rank...As a simple tester you don't need any previous experience, you just need to know English well enough to describe any type of bug, you need to have a basic knowledge about gaming, you need to pay attention at every detail in a game and have lots of patience to go through every corner of the game&menu. I don't think I need to mention that you need to know how to use windows/browsing and MS Office (excel, word). The rest is up to you :)

  • After a game is released and a bug is reported, most of the time they never fix these issues so what are the real QA testers getting paid for?? Bring in a professional gamer who knows what to look for, me! ;)

  • Hiya. I've been applying for QA testing positions for 23 YEARS!! Maybe that will show some of you that it's certainly not easy to get into! I've sent in game designs and music productions but still to this day I've never even had one single interview!

Now with 32 years gaming experince I still apply because it's such a passion of mine.

I enjoy testing betas but don't think it's professional at all when a company has not listened and the bug/s still exist after the game has been released!

  • What are some qualifications to work as a video game tester?

  • @copperpants101 thumbs

  • I am a QA at Sony, it is a lot harder than people thinks, but give it a try, if you are lucky you will get in without any experience, but they usually hire seniors qa and experienced testers, the job is OKAY, I mean you DON'T PLAY video games, YOU BREAK them, it is more professional and complicated than people think, is very demanding and if you don't achieve their expectations they will fired you, IN the other side, depending on the company it can be a very fun work Environment but not work.

  • when I try to set records in nfs hp I do all that

  • Suck thats its only 35000$ A year though but it could be nice to work up to!

  • I am currently looking to get into QA, I recently graduated with a 2:1 in games design and its still damn hard trying to find a job in the industry in the UK!

  • I want this job so bad!

  • Im 14 and im so hooked up to this career

  • @koga191 Same !!! :D.. my parents think its a bad idea though :/

  • @jtde1out of your opinion, is it wrong that a girl wants to become a game designer or tester?

  • @koga191 Nah, if its something you want to do in life dont let anything stop you :)

  • I skipped through the video a lot and all i heard was qa or ea lol.

  • It says any questions nope he walks away I don't here an audience either it is a scam

  • also sent by brotherhood thing.

  • Love the double belly button action

  • thanks. this helps with my gcse ict work.. i have to do a face interview about this job

  • don't pay a shit to those elite brotherhood of game testers, they are a bunch of scamers with no life, getting a job should be free, not 197 bucks, and they don't even give you a job, they give you a fucking book wich im sure its full of shit

  • I was sent here by the Brotherhood as well.

  • Comment removed

  • I hope this is real I just got an email telling me about this kind of occupation

  • so im gonna test games and get paid 4 it? to be honest that sounds to good to be true...

  • @gh0strr you have to note all the bugs and glitches you encounter

  • @ktfreak4jesus im a beast @ finding glitches... found over 10 in Cod Black ops zombies, some of them i keep for myself and some is found by others later..

  • Is Elite Brotherhood of Game Testers legit? Thumbs up so people see and can answer.

  • @Jayyden97 I've never heard of them but when I saw that they have in work since 2002. Plus when they send you the email they don't give you much of an explanation. Best to keep look out.

  • @Jayyden97 The Elite Brotherhood of Game Testers ask for money. Something like 197$ and they say it's worth thousands but it seems like bullshit. The amount of money you should pay to get a job is 0 so I really don't think this is legit and I want to say FUCK YOU Elite Brotherhood of Game Testers your not getting my money.

  • Yup, Elite Brotherhood sent me - I'm hoping the Assassins Creed thing was just a logo and I don't have to cut a finger off to join :/

  • How much do they pay per month?

  • Is there anyone who has gotten this job through being invited to the gamer brotherhood???

  • @Haimgard I did

  • Comment removed

  • @Haimgard I was.

  • @Haimgard i was..

  • @Haimgard YESSS!!! And im soooooo lucky im going to get paid to do what i LOVE!!!!!!

  • Dream job! :D

  • You can talk about QA all you want but life is retarded.

EVERY JOB REQUIRES EXPERIENCE, TOO GET EXPERIENCE YOU NEED THE JOB, BUT YOU CAN'T GET THE JOB WITHOUT THE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a fucking game, just fucking society. Goodluck getting a QA job (Y)

  • playing crysis 2 everyday!!!!!....that would be awesome

  • I'm wanting to get into gaming industry but not as a developer or anything, I'm interested in the music side of things. I currently don't play any instruments but I do sing.

I have no idea how that side of things works though so if anyone could give me some advice or tell me how it works etc? Would be very helpful.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense xD

  • Now bigger than the Music & Film industry combined!

  • i'm hoping to move to austin next year and just right in head first. just apply everywhere and live poor if i have to just to get my foot in the door of the industry.

  • this right here looks perfect, i got 18 hours a day to do this so i got the time to do it, i would love to do game testing, not just for the money but even for the fun and its something i want to do for a career. so i think i should start off win something like this. i play a lot of xbox and love most type of games. ill always have the time to get to where you need me :) it'll be great :)

  • @alexxhax don't expect it to be fun.

  • In my 2nd year in college I was close to landing a QA job at High Voltage but had to turn it down due to a very difficult commute just to get to the interview (no car). Too bad, I could've maybe helped made The Conduit play better :o

  • We game allday everyday finding issues with many of our favorite games and when we get board playing the right way we basically stress test the game in anyway thinkable :) , like seeing where the glitches are and if they repeat i could go on endlessly but dam we need in as testers we spend our lives gaming and notice the little crazy things but we have no one to tell. if all fails look us up at ClanG4L.com or ClanG4L.net just do it

  • Where would I send in apps? I have the patience to sit there and test out one thing multiple different times. But I live in louisiana so I'm a little afraid I have no chance at getting this dream job. Anyone know if there are certain requirments needed to get this job and where do you send in an app?

  • @Eassle369 EA NATC is located in Baton Rouge, if you live anywhere near that. It's not exceptionally hard to get a job there. Keeping the job is the difficult part. But, if you make it fun, then it won't be so hard.

  • @MastaKadaj

Are you an experienced tester or something or know any tips that may be useful? I plan on going far in the this carreer and eventually work up to creative designer and mabye in 20 years have my own game published. I know its possible and its not easy but I'm determined to do it.

  • @Eassle369 I currently work at EA as a QA tester, so I've got some experience. It's fairly difficult for about the first couple weeks (depending on how many hours you work) until you start getting the hang of things (i.e., how to querry for bugs you've found, how to specifically try to break the game or user counterproductive scenarios within the game, etc.) Then it's really easy. I'm actually majoring in digital art as I want to do animation, so I'm somewhat on the same boat as you.

  • @MastaKadaj

That is excellent! I want to Major in game development or computer science next year in trade school. Also I'm dislexic so I don't play through the game the same way as other people do so I might be able to find more a different bug than other people which is what I'll say when I go apply for it in a year.

Thank you! You have been very helpful!

  • Battlefield 2 still have glitches after many updates. Where are the game testers?

  • @CaptCamping

Depends, that game is still fresh and so may still be working on it. Usually if theres a deadline that must be met then only the most important errors will get fixed and as you said patches will put through after release date as cause and fixes are found.

  • Very informative, thanks for posting this.

Those of you looking to be a tester, most game companies still look for or even require a bachelor's degree. College is always a good first step, but an internship or job experience can also be as valuable.

  • Hello my name is Jorge and I live in the PA USA, I want to become a game designer but I'm only 13 so I need help, what do I have to do to become a game designer, what classes to take?, how to start?, if you can help me please do, thanks

  • Hi my name is Aizaz Hussain and I have a real passion for gaming. I'd love to be in the gaming industry so wondered if you can help me get a career in Game Testing (QA).

I live in London, Surrey, UK. I know I can progress in the industry as I have good oral and written skills whilst I am good at finding and reporting bugs and glitches and offering improvements. I'd love to learn your software for reporting the mistakes

    Contact me at ----> aizaz41296@hotmail.co.uk

    Thanks for your time.

  • Hi my name is Daniel and i wanted to ask if you can help me get a job game testing.

I live in Atlanta and I am moving to North Carolina

    Contact me @ danieldurvin1@aol.com

    Thank You for your time

  • nobody wants to be a tester so they present it as a "good job"

  • i'm a game tester...

@YaNaYyyM game testing is not bad. its an entry level job into the industry. the only thing is it gets boring playing the same level over and over again.

@huneebee1 - yeah you dont get promoted quickly cause you cant get promoted unless you know what you're doing for the job

  • @mac2flip Also, theirs a big misconception that you go from game to game each day. Thats not the case at least with EA qa testing. I test, and what your saying is absolutely true.

  • game testers are the most misrable persons in the gaming industry

they treat you like a retard

  • The girl at the beggining of the video is the girl from mirrors edge?

  • @kyubiboy2522 Yes sirr

  • How do you become a QA tester?

  • @IHighLikePlane Google's How

  • this job sounds painful

  • After reading the posts on here, I can answer a few questions. First, yes you have to have graduated high school. Also, they are preferring college course work these days, usually an Associates or better. Third, the only stay at home jobs are beta tests that you dont get paid for. IE: LOTRO is accepting applications to test a future update right now. And lastly, your best bet is to find a testing job, is through a temp agency.

  • Applied for QA Tester

  • i want in so bad, i will do anything to be a game tester.

  • I just applied for linguistic game tester position in my language. The application process takes some time. I also had to take a test before the interview and still waiting for my test results (: Hopefully I will pass it, do the interview and get the job.

  • my parents think this job is a crock i wanna prove them wrong

  • @UltimateFighterOwnag I was a tester at EA for 2 years, it's not a crock. I worked on a MMO. The biggest issue is that your not going to get promoted quickly. And on console games the turnover rate is pretty high after a game releases.

  • @huneebee1 no they just think its totally impossible to make a living doing something like this because to them it doesnt sound like work i cant wait to prove them wrong

  • how do u become a QA tester im in highschool too and am looking for a job

  • hehe i broke AC II with playing for first time maybe its a good idea

  • How old do you have to be to get a job as a QA tester? I'll be 17 in a few months, and I play FIFA alot.I love sports games and strategy games. I live next to a testing site in BR, Louisiana. I love video games and would love to help make them better... especilly FIFA

  • @AFizzleSkadizzle Min 18 years old. good luck

  • i luvvveee my job. =D

  • how do you become a games tester ?

  • @oz670

one of them is doing game designer course, you can take tester positions before being a real game designers. That how I heard from Agents offering my course

  • Dude Who Cares? If Your passion is games, and working in the industry, go for it! Even if they only pay you as little as 9 dollars per hour =) YOURE DOING WHAT YOU LIKE!!! Heck, a 1500 to 2000 dollars monthly paycheck is what every gamer would dream off, so dont start making Quality Assurance look like crap =) THANK YOU!!!

  • burnout paradise? i hate the concept of burnout paradise! hated that game lol

  • How old do u have to be?

  • Usually 18, but as long as you're legally able to work in the US, you should be good.

  • @MutantFrk yh cheers m8

  • @MutantFrk how much do starting QA testers make? is it based on an hourly basis or??? Please respond

i am only in 11th grade but i plan to attend a school in my state (ny) and i would be studying game design and programming...i just need some extra money for the next few years so i can pay for school etc..

  • It's going to vary from company to company, but usually starting off you'll be pretty close to minimum wage. It's usually an hourly wage, (here in CA probably $8-$10 an hour). But testing jobs are usually full time positions, working 40 hours a week. A game company have you come into their testing center, and work along side other testers for long hours, also working nights and weekends sometimes. Your best best would probably be finding a smaller game company who could pay you part-time.

  • guys this place is crazy! u gotta check it out. im a video tester cuz of this!--->

  • Since I'm not out of High School yet, a game testing job at home, testing a game out for like 3 to 4 hours each day would be great for me.

  • Testing jobs aren't quite like that .. testers hired pretty much all have high school degrees, if not some college experience, and as a QA tester you'll usually work full time (8 hours a day, 5 days a week, + working overtime on nights and weekend shifts)

Not quite as fun as just 3-4 hrs a day whenever you want to, but still a fantastic job.

  • Well, I graduate in May this year and will have 9 College credits at the same time. Could I still at least work from home with the games, equipment, etc?

  • Game testing jobs don't go from home. (At least, as a game developer graduating from college, I've never heard of it working that way). From everyone I know who's done testing, the way it works is: you to into work at a testing center that the game company runs with maybe 20 other testers. You stay there all day playing the same game (for weeks or months usually), trying to break all facets of it. Like the guy in the video says, you try to run into walls in different ways, for 8 hours a day.

  • As a side effect, you might wind up disliking whatever game you're testing, because you're usually not playing the fun parts of it - you're usually just trying to find glitches. You test features of the game in a very methodical, repetitive manner. You're under deadlines from your boss (the QA Manager) to find a certain # of bugs, and you write detailed reports on each bug you find, explaining to the developers *exactly* how you created the situation in which the game broke.

  • Then, when the game is about to be released, and they're done testing the game, they let go of you because the game company doesn't need you any more and you were essentially a temporary employee, and as a game tester, you are very easily replaceable.

Your goal is to develop some sort of reputation within the testers and with your boss before the time that the game is released. If you can do that, then you'll be less likely to get cut when they're done with production on the game

  • and the game company / the QA Manager will be more likely to hire you back because you worked with them before, and they had a good experience with you. Fresh out of high school, you might be able to pick up a QA testing job at a game company over summer for 3 months. They'll pay minimum wage, but it's good money, and having that job on your resume will look great later on when you're trying to get into a game company again. Sadly testing isn't something you can do part time, or from home. :/

  • @VulcanXL but the likely-hood of that is.. well basically non existent. First off you will be working long hours and also quite often you can't always work at home.

  • @VulcanXL u ever find one?

  • @halofornoobs93

No..I'm out of High School now and have no car or job yet. Luckily, I don't have a typical family that kicks your children to the curb, regardless if they are ready or not. I just have to make some effort.

  • @VulcanXL I can tell you now that will never happen.

  • @J0k0r50

Well guess what? I'm out of High School. How about it happening now?

  • @VulcanXL trust me mate it really isn't great. playing a game that hasn't been released yet ruining the surprise for you and playing for months and months on end and continuously just doing the same thing every day just say for instance for something I read up on assassins creed it took longer for them to fixes the bugs then it did to make the game would you really like to keep on running into every per square inch of the map and you would have to do thousands of combinations to break the game

  • @virtualboom

Um....yes and no....certain game, major title ones like CoD, Halo, or GoW I would probably not like to do...but other games, sure!! It's something easy and pays triple of what I make now!

  • @VulcanXL wat do we need to test the games at home and pls tell me about game testing job at home.

  • @VulcanXL u dnt do it at home u do it at the company but hey

  • @MADagain321

True, most the time it is at the company...but they'll have you have pieces of the game to work at home.

  • @VulcanXL Me too i'm still in highschool and i'm planning on doing this with my brother and friend but since i have a long way to go i'm just trying to get a headsup on all the simple gaming tester advantages when it comes to fun and getting paid.

  • @VulcanXL i think doing this as a career would take up more than 3-4 hours a day, try mabye 6-10 hours evrydaty nonstop. IE how he said with the car game he had to test evey track and every car and doing am illion things, that would take up a damn few hours if you were testing out agame like gran turismo 5, with over 1000 cars and 150 or so tracks it would be impossibly hard to do, so it wouldnt be easy.

  • This job pays as much as McDonald's...

  • so u think game tester only make around $6 an hour ur wrong about that they make around $100-300 a day

  • Minimum wage for a STUDENT is $8.90 an hour. >_>

Anyways, trust me, this job pays too little for the strain. Another thing is that usually this job is a temp-job for the employers. But it would be a good way to try and secure a better job in a gaming company.

Also, a game tester would probably make around $80 to $200 a day depending on their experience and hours logged. Hourly salaries range from around $8 to $20 depending on experience. Average yearly salary is $15 000. Not much.

  • minimum wage is 7.25. You might live in a state that pays $8.90 (and all power to ya), but most people may not be that lucky.

  • Minimum student wage in Canada is $8.90 an hour...

  • hahaha :D

  • Haha... ha... ha - I don't get it...

  • I think cck19921 was laughing at jerms246 for assuming that you lived in a state ybrik222.

  • @Cwal Oh, well it is a common misconception for everyone to live in America... -_-

  • i am 19 and trying to be a game tester dont know how can anyone help me put am a full time gamer love playing games

  • yes go to itt tech schools of electronics

  • man why couldn't he explain how to approach getting into the game industry. i am a huge gamer. i like games for the challenge, fun and adventure. for me being a game tester would be another challenge cause i am looking for problems with the game. but i can not seem to figure out how to apply for a job as a game tester. every site i go to there is a fee which is a scam why couldn't they take the fee out of my first check. like i would test games for free if i had the chance idk

  • Try EA games, they're ALWAYS taking jobs.

If you want to advance to a better gaming career (testing should be temporary), though, you'd want to learn programming, good math skills, and/or 3D animation whilst testing, then apply for a junior job or internship.

  • Go directly to their website? View The jobs section, and apply for the selected jobs, along with all of your contact information, and if you have the skilss needed, youl score an interview =) and if all goes well, then GAZAAM!!!

  • me and my cousion are full time gamers.. and were looking for a job as a game tester. im 16 hes 17.. could any1 help to find us a job in game testing.. pleasee

  • I'm in the gaming industry and I also started in QA. I can tell you right now that it IS NOT as pink as it might sound. Sure it's fun, you play games and get paid. But when you play the same broken game with few graphic assets, no sound, crashes every 5minutes and for 3,4,5 months in a row EVERYDAY... nah! Not that much fun. It is a great entry level job, but QA is NOT as respected as it should (the worst salary is QA's). Study programming, make games and show it to as many people as you can.

  • I can't believe how many people think this would be a fun job...

You know any good courses to take in college / university to get into the industry?

  • does anyone know how to become game tester

  • retards of the company

  • I remember this Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and nearly every ramp you could go through on this particular map by doing a particular movement.

  • Hier me plz i have found most glitches in every game i have played

  • lol I dont think they can just "hier" you lol.

  • I want to get this job

  • Na, don't they treat you like shit

  • i would like to get treat like shit, if i get paid

  • idiot

  • you idiot

  • why, because i want a career i would be happy with, yes im an idiot

  • what do you mean treat you like a shit? are you game tester?

  • MY COUSINS BF IS ONE SO YEAH HE SAID

  • @HITSOFTHECENTURY No they don't treat you like shit.

  • EA Quality assurance is sounding a lot like a job in science where your testing all the variables making sure there is no erroneous data, like a break in game logic or collision. Dose EA QA do play tester jobs, and give feed back on the experience of the game throughout its development cycle too? or do you have street testers for that?

  • thanks for this, informative and insightful, just what i was looking for!

  • This job sounds harder than i first thought.
