My son (physics major student at University of Sydney) tried to explain the chaos theory to me and showed me this video. I understood nothing of course but I like the video! - especially the begining and end - lol
z=z*z+c starting with z=0 and c = the number in the complex plain(x y) you are testing. If z numbers goes above a certain number say 3 then its heading off into infinity(probably) so colour it the number of iterations it went thru b4 going above this number. If it goes above say a thousand iterations its in the set and colour iy say black. So much fun playing with this over the years. Remember when my beeb 30 years ago took 6/7 hours to draw it. Takes minutes on modern PCs. TRY IT.
Have there been any efforts to combine fractal geometry with statistics? I'm mostly thinking that this might be really useful at estimating how close actual objects come to a mathematical standard model... Like if you had a leaf and wanted to see how close it comes to a tessellation. So in other words estimating the overall resemblance of physical objects to a fractal object. Is this the kind of mathematics underlying inventions like facial recognition and video game graphics?
Bought the lossless full version video last night, and watched it on 5 grams dried mushroom after 3 weeks studying the concept behind Fractals and how Mandelbrot set is generated, and had the most amazing experience in my life. Thank you guys for making this video. I will buy more of your videos soon for my next trips.
@interpird350 According to a science writer, Mr Chown, he believes that just 4 lines of computer code can be responsible for the entire universe, and its complexities. As to what the 4 lines consist of, he has spent many years on this, and obviously the lines could be trillions of characters long, but hes working on it LOL
@ghidfg The light was added I'm fairly certain. This always blows my mind. What's next what's next? The same thing as before! Just a little different. Easy to forget the simplicity and unity of it all when you're staring THAT in the face.
this is awesome!! I don't het a thing about how one make this fractal images..but just can say I was shocked! by the beauty and creativity of this incredible colours, images and the deep zoom, going closer and closer every second!,great work!! :-)
@ChefWRX too long, months in fact. The final frame alone took over 72hours. This is due to the fact that at this ridiculous level of magnification, 20million calculations had to be performed for EACH pixel.
I ate a quarter oz of mushrooms ( golden caps) and just loved this Mandelbrot set. Wonderful wonderful work if people want to be dicks let them do what you did. I myself fell into my flatscreen( my "54 is hooked up to it) and was floating in a wonderful mix of life and numbers. Thank you for your wonderful imaging it wasn't a paste and click project I can tell you that. Just great. Kudos.
@jasonandmoose Sir, I have smoked two bowls of what is called "Hindu Skunk Kush." I highly recommend smoking a god chronic, watch this while listening to the song "We're Going To Fly Now" on the Green Lantern soundtrack. Flying and falling, man. Had my face glued to the screen for *lost track of time*
When I was first shown fractals they never surprised me at all. They amazed me, but it wasn't a revelation. I'd seen them in closed eye hallucinations from mushrooms trips I'd took years before. Reminds me of the story of when shamanic natives were shown what things look like through a microscope... they just shrugged their shoulders as they knew that there was a microscopic world that we don't see unless we're in an altered state. Take LSD and you'll see the molecules in the air around you.
This is how I imagine life to be; everything is just a fractal equation. There are always lifeforms smaller than ourselves, and ones much bigger. There is a never-ending scale that goes infinitely up and infinitely down, each teick on that scale represents an infinite amount of universes, many too small, or too big to comprehend.
gosh someones inferior here and it isnt me it keeps catching and hanging. i should get a good feeling from that knowledge but, you see, when your inferioriocity intrudes upon my weary soul all i can do is yawn and sigh
The Fractal is amazing but I find the music dire, I find it works better if you listen to Tool Lateralus, it doesn't fit perfectly with the song but its a damn site better than the music played in the video.
It's so creepy when you stare at the center and forget about everything. The colors, the shapes, the zoom, it all kind of gives me terror. I don't know why. Maybe it's because humans are afraid of the unknown, and this video is just full of strange fractals that make my mind imagine diferents things. All in ten minutes of video.
can you make a video where you go like 5 minutes inside a fractal, and then turn around and go backwards, a different way and come back to the original image on a different part of the image because of the pathway you took?, cause that would be cool... and shit
