like the look of this car but after quite a bit of research you couldent give me one for free. The small diesels particulate filter will clog up and fail (urban proof yeah right). Also the rear dif and suspension have hideous failure rates, both these problems Nissan admit to, but are doing nothing about it.
@jazzxeno The DPF issue affects many makes not just Nissan. The general guide is if you mainly do stop / start low mileage town driving, a petrol engine is the better choice. Regarding the rear shocks failing, this affected a large number of QQ's and as you said Nissan know about it. A new supplier / batch replaced the affected shocks & have rectified the problem.
I've got a 2009 model bought from new and have not had any problems with the shocks or the QQ in general.
This is a great car. I bought the Qashqai today 1,6 Acenta S, in the colour white. Loving it and can't wait till I get behind the wheel tomorrow and just..drive...drive...drive....and drive.
Matt thanks for your reviews with other cars, however I bought this one.
I have the 2ltr acenta auto as my motability car . Its easy to get in and out of with my legs drives great and is built like a tank . But it is very thirsty average M.P.G is only 25 . So if your buying 1 go for the diesel its a bit slower but with better M.P.G.
I wonder why instead of selling the European Qashqai in the U.S., Nissan created an ugly North American version called Rogue. I test-drove it, the Rogue looks inside just like the Qashqai and has the same underpinnings, 2.5-liter engine (same as on the X-Trail) and CVT transmission. Drives rather nicely for a crossover, but looks horrible. I prefer how the Qashqai looks.
@mlps93 Judging from photos, the Rogue and Qashqai (as well as other models like X-Trail and Sentra) have many common interior parts like instrument panel, steering wheel, the center stack with knobs.
The Rogue is not underpowered at all. It has a 2.5-liter engine which is more than enough for this car. I test-drove it, got it to 80 mph on a freeway, no overtaking problems, drives like on rails.
this is a small suv, why the hell is comparing it to hatchbacks like the civic and focus in terms of driving. this is ment to compete with the tiguan and the crv
@guayotambora Because in the UK the Qashqai is priced close to these cars in some cases even being cheaper. The QQ is Nissan's answer to the Golf, Vauxhall Astra & Focus, these are the customers Nissan is tempting. I changed my Focus for a Qashqai in 2009, the QQ has proven to be cheaper to run both in terms of insurance & fuel economy. It may look like a 4X4 but has small family car running costs, that's why it's such a success in the UK.
A beautiful very expensive car in my country only in 1600cc and not a good horsepower in gasoline engines without turbo. A good idea was to use Juke's engine in qashqai
umm i have a qashqai 2007 2wd acenta 30,000 kms but all the shock absorber are gone too bad for a city drive use verry bad for just 30,000kms engine belt are noisy brake are very squick.. think b4 you buy this car!
My father got a Nissan Qashqai, and im soon 18 and getting driving license, I have tryed this car a few times, and this is very amazing to drive it, you feel like you are on a truck, and also it doesnt make so big sounds, you sometimes think that the engine are with electric. The max speed I have drrive is 180 and it didnt feel like that. Many of my friends loved even the seats and said they were comfortable. No noises at all during dirving time!
@1993tre When you get your license...do not play smart and drink and drive. Take it easy and enjoy driving. I to love this car and thinking of buying it.Take care.
@NicBunnymen Thank you mate, I will do that, Ive already experienced what happens if you drink and drive, from earlier friends, and I wont do that what ever people will give me... Anyways, thank you from reminding me!
I own a 2009 pre facelift Qashqai from new and have been bowled over by it's ability as an all round car.The driving position is great, and seats comfy yet supportive. Running costs have been in line with other family hatches and the reliability first rate. The improved interior of the 2010 model looks better, especially the conventional dials for fuel / water temp, as the orange digital display in my Qashqai is not easy on the eye.
However I prefer the exterior of the original by far!
I've ridden in one recently. It has a reasonably high-quality fit & finish and seems to hold its own on the road. I dislike the fact that it has less interior space than a Megane.
OMG in NZL the highest spec model is only 24,000 €. where the hell do you live?? however high spec here, is 2WD no leather or navigation kit, but has all other nifty features.
A few reviewers comment on tight headroom in the back of QQ, but I agree with you. I'm 6ft and can sit comfortably in the back with about 2" of head space available, I know models with the panoramic roof lose a few inches of headroom. Definitely a great car, and this reviewer is one of the best around at the moment!
As for the car, i think its too expensive for what it is. At least in my country. For example, 2.0 dci model with the highest equipement package and aut. gearbox costs 41000€, while for that money you can get, i dont know, a renault laguna 2.0 dci GT (with 180hp), with 4 wheel steering, navigation, and all the equipement you get in qashqai, but it only costs 32000€.
It all depends on what spec you go for really, the majority of QQ sold are the lower powered petrol & diesel models, which make the most sense. If you compare say a 1.6 QQ Acenta against a similar spec Astra, Focus or Golf the pricing is competitive. Also the QQ is now the equal of the Golf for residual values, with huge demand for both new & used models. The Laguna may well be bursting with extras ( likely to stop working ) but come resale time, you may end up dissapointed.
@derbigpr500 That's interesting, it's the first time I hear someone complain about the value for money one gets with that car. Also the comparison with a Renault Laguna is just ridiculous.
@derbigpr500 Why then you see thousands of Qashqais in the road and only few Lagunas? I have a 2010 Qashqai and i wouldn't change it for any other car.
@derbigpr500 True, but pretty much every SUV is more expensive that it's Hatchback rival. :) But then again, you get a lot more room, ride height, and, if needed, with 4x4 it is a decent offroader, for let's say, a ski trip.

Qashqai interior is actually more upscale than the Rogue as it the rogue shares the same interior as Altima
that Rogue is seriously underpowered
