Muslims in fact preserved the writings of the Greeks and Romans through translation, many of which was lost in the Baghdad invasion by the Mongols, however MOST was not lost because Muslims practiced and built on top of those studies combined with everything else that came from India, Persia, China, etc. Looks like you need to read history!
