yeah...not so great. had my buddy kick me for real (with shin protection on) and the blocking pushes you since you're airborne and your jumping knee is worthless and out of good range
@renshiboom you jumped way too early and your posture was too high its just a simple muay thai leg check then the flying knee as your opponent is bringing his leg back, stay on the ground for the check once you have checked it then jump.
The technique is not so bad,, but it needs lots and lots of practice,, knee guard is really efective,, in fact is the best defense for low kicks, cause tights get harmed very bad with these kind of kicks,,seriously. about the knee it's a really thai efective weapon but back to the point ,,these one needs practice..
The guy's comment is right up there, a very strong kick will make the balance of it, but in martial arts we have to have the intelligence to improvise techniques if they take the leg at the low kick the technique becomes valid.
you know what's really annoying is someone describing the technique for several minutes without showing it. show it FIRST, then explain, then show it again slowly so that the viewer can follow the explanation
someone should tell him that in a real fight if he try to block like this a low kick he will probably find himself in the floor..this technique is shit
I agree completely, thats why alot of fighters just wear the low kick as it allows for a counterattack. Blocking a solid low kick really puts you on the back foot your lucky to stay balanced let alone leap at your opponent and he's prob gonna finish the low kick with a punch combo best of luck defending that
i do jujitsu , atm i am purple belt , i dont see the point in all that , why not just block and outerwind him , or even like block and knife hand to neck.
im not being creul or harsh , but out in the street you dont have does thick gloves even a snap kick and punch will do
muay thai is a more brutal art than karate or some of the other martial arts, thus their use of the hardest bones in the body, elbow, shin, knees as primary attacks.
my mate does ju jitsu. hes been doing for 3 years i think now, and he says that hes been taught about not just how to fight, but also about how the body works for things to go right. whether or not thats just his teacher. but from what he tells me, he says it is an excellent skill to have.
hey guys plz send me message i want your opinion answer me if u only know is ju jitsu good it has good kicks and stuff? can u protect your self on the street? :]
Cool move. But i see more usefull when the opponent closes the distance, the reason to lowkick somebody (for me) is to do some damage from a safe distance, i dun know.
b/c its the best of both worlds haha.. not only does every mma fighter need this but BJJ is the best on ground.. joint locks chokes and amazing grappling endurance.. muay thai is the best stand up. kicks knee elbow punch and hardest training out there for overall dominance.. why not do this?
sorry to call BULLSHIT on this technique. the impact on the defending leg from a sincere low kick will throw you off balance to initiate a jumping knee from. if this worked, it'd be part of standard muay thai by now.
no. i have been doing muay thai for a little over 4 years now... not a diehard professional, but i have some amateur and 1 pro fight behind me. but have to call bullshit on this guy's technique -- not just impractical but silly. before considering him as an instructor i'd like to see a few reels of his pro fights if any.
okay lets say he throws a kick towards the thigh, but feints to go to the shin, so he already got through your defence, leaving your other leg unprotected, causing you to sweep down on the floor.
@AMRock777 I don't know man, you may have the point, but still, there is a good chance for this move to be very effective... If the opponent throws a jab (for example) after the low kick, he might just walk on to that knee... I agree, tho, this is a risky move, but hey, every move needs to be perfected.
i wish the other guy would put a little more oomph into his kicks... he's pretty much just swinging the same leg over and over in the same boring repetitive manner... but none the less good technique and i second the "not wanting to get behind his knee"
i thought your elbow is supposed to be outside your leg?

I think most moves comes with a %. That maybe a low % move. Great to show off against beginners though! :)

shin block is poor, a decent REAL kick would go straight through the block.
Great block and counter in principle, but poor technique and demonstration.

i dont want to call this technique unrealistic. but:
if u jump to early a good lowkick will kick ur blocking leg into ur "grounded" leg and u fall down.
if u jump to late the person will be out of range but got a very good chance to counter the leg u landed on again with a lowkick.
im not sure if u can time that knee good enough after blocking a decent lowkick.
and i would not crouch in this situation.
Muay711 3 years ago
I agree.
you can hit by surprise using this, but not against an average martial artist.

it's like asking why don't they use their hands in soccer or why not just run with the ball in basketball instead of wasting time dribbling..
personally, mixing the two just looks really ugly to me from a stylistic point of view, but i admit i am biased.
