@rs200000000000 mini cooper mk1 is lighter of course. but beetles are much easier to come upon, and easier to engine swap, with many choices of turbo subaru engines (FTW). i wouldn't call the beetle heavy either, it weights around 800kg (mini is around 600kg), and this one appears to have interior work and is probably stripped so its even lighter. beetle also has much more space to actually fit a person comfortably. either way you go, its awesome.
@danelio i live in the uk mini's are all over the place here , ive seen subaru engined beetles and campers infact came very close to buying a t3 with a wrx engine in restently but i came to my scences, yea the mini's do weight about 600 kilos stock but here alot of people go for the for example z cars tubular chassis ans fibreglass/plastic body gets it down to around 450kilos and they will out run ferraris on the track literally pull away from the start on pretty much anything its nuts
