If any of you reenactors want to defend your position on reenacting, look up "real footage of Picketts charge" Ive been slugging it out a bit with someone on there.
it was a great event despite all the rain and humidity but i think that added to it. Crossing that lil creek was intersting the first day during the rain
My opinion? Too many Yankees. Despite the grandeur of this year's Pickett's Charge, there were quite a few too many Union reenactors that made it look like the repulse of the Confederates were a minor inconvenience and not an almost "close run thing". Some of those bluecoats should've galvanized, fleshed out the Gray ranks.
you should have seen it from our point of view then. Do you know how many more Johnnies there were? When we were watching them come towards us they were spanned across the entire field. THREE DEEP
I agree. I was with the 75th OVI (we were alongside the Iron Brigade at one point on the 1st day, so, hey!) It seemed to me that we were a lot thinnner than the CSA ranks. Great time in any case. Thanks for the fine vid.
I was with the 8th Ohio during that scenario on Sunday and our battalion was the last to up the federal numbers that day for the re-enactment. From our vantage point, the Johnnies were stretched as far as they eye could see with 2-3 rows deep. We had every available man along the wall and the right flank. No way we outnumbered you guys at that event! haha Maybe in '98 at the 135th, now that was some numbers at that event! See ya at the 150th!
In my opinion, the event numbers were very close. Yes, to retort to the other comment that the Johnnies LOOKED like the greater number. Yes we likely did look like a larger force, as we were marching in line 2 deep, yet the Yankies in alot of area's were 4 and 5 deep, it was obvious that the numbers were about equal. it was just troop management from command in the way the armies were spread out in my opinion! It was a good time, alot of fun, and i look forward to the 150th Gentlemen!

Good to see it from the Confederate side.
