@kamenriderfang False. Always been Eggman in Japan. USA renamed him Robotnik. They made Robotnik Eggman's last name over seas, then gave him a grandfather -Prof. Gerald Robotnik- (and a cousin, Maria Robotnik). He's always been Eggman. His grandfather has always been a separate character. This is not hard to understand.

i'll always end up calling him Robotnik (i realize i spelled "Ivo" wrong). but i'm not really picky when it comes to what others call him, as long as others return the favor.

I can't really expect people to call Sonic "Charles", or Tails "Miles", I realize its a nickname.

@RueArsins - If my guess is correct, I believe the name "Eggman" started coming into play with Sonic Advance because I remember that was the first Sonic game when I saw his name was now Eggman. I also had a theory of why his name was Eggman because that's when the Chao debut so I thought his mission was to steal all the Chao eggs for himself, therefore changing his name to Eggman...but again that was my theory back when I was like 8-9 and I kinda stuck with it xP

The real trick to beating Dr Robotnik ( I do like that better than the Japanese name of Eggman) is to take your time. If you rush then its easy to get killed. If you take it easy however its not that hard a boss at all. Now Sonic 3 & Knuckles (when you combine the carts or click on them if you playing Sonic Jam on Saturn) the last boss on that is a pain in the arse.

Out-of-canon work (like Sonic SatAM) I still use "Robotnik".
