I wish I had the camera and had it rolling the night a Werner truck was complaining about Fed-Ex making it look to easy to pass him. It was Christmas, it was late, we were headed home, and we made the Fed-Ex truck look slow. The "HOLY S#*T there's two of you" was priceless.
@truckn33 Ahhh...got it...no sweat, I's jus' bein' funny anyhows. Actually....I had slowed to let him catch up, then sped up to keep him next to me for longer( I know, real swift). I think the original video is gone, but this was all made as a joke in reply to someone who had a video up about trucks drag racing on the highway.
Hey boss its clear that Werner slowed up on you as he was passing. I was remarking on the other dude that was talking about trucks staying in the right lane
Here's an idea. When your being passed by a truck thats RPM challenged just like you back it down a couple of miles an hour so the other guy can get by you.
@truckn33 Thank,s you're a genious...I'd've never thunk that'n up fer m'self. That's pretty much standard practice for me. In this case, I was makin' a movie, so I made everyone suffer for a few seconds...I officially apologize to the world
@truckn33 Are you joking? I am going to maintain my speed in the right lane for as long as its going to take me to get to my destination. If you want to pass then pass. If your truck is RPM challenged then get in the right lane and cruise. You have got to be a moron to slow down for every Tom Dick and Harry who needs 20 miles to pass.
theres nothing worse then 2 co. swifts trying to pass each other and neither will back down so they clog the interstate its funny and frustrating at the same time
@SWIFT95330 yup the ones that go to the hammer lane and forget to pass all the while holding up the entire interstate ill have to get a video if i am riding shotgun when it happens again (got to love teaming)
@SWIFT95330 If a big truck is passing another big truck on the interstate, either one is going way too fast, or one is going terribly slow. Love my old Star, no governor, could cruise at 70mph all day with a permit load If I wanted.
Pretty sad when I wish I could go as fast as Werner or Swift. Little comforting knowing I can blow by a Schneider solo driver at an astonishing 1.9MPH. That equates to like 1.95 minutes to pass or a little over 1.33 miles.
It's amazing how Swift trains there drivers, you can't learn jack from driving a simulator except bad habits, when I went to school we had 2 days of class time to bone up for our CDL test at the DMV and the other 28 days of school was all spent driving all over Salt Lake City
I'd get the Hell away from any Werner truck. Hate to get hit with a load of Chinese rubber dogshit heading to Dollar General. Swift is bad, but Werner is almost as bad as CR England.
@Atlquotl, in my days of driving there were some semi drivers as well which didn't anticipate my merging onto a highway in a tractor trailer. Those drivers figured it out at the last possible second so I've been through my tight situations. FYI, I'm an ex-Swift driver so that safety training did stay with me and I'm happy in my short lived experience my MVR remained spotless :) Can't say much about my DAC and DAC just sucks.
While not as commonplace as the previous one, it's still been heard countless times before...Come on...I challenge you to think up one we haven't all heard before.
this is why governed trucks suck. You don't have the power to get around asshole Swift drivers when you need to because both trucks are governed near 65 mph. Trucking is complete fucking bullshit as long as those trucks remained governed. Not worth the wasted life or slave labor.
Yep, It really sucks trying to pass someone when you only have 1/2MPH more than them...it takes forever. When I see someone that's taking too long to pass me, I just back off for a few seconds and let them get it done...I hate running right next to someone for miles on end, even if it's not holding traffic.
this is why I never liked Swift and 60 mph and coming up on the slower vehicles inch by inch because of that 1/2 mph bullshit. Perhaps another reason why they should do away with governors altogether and make it more for real out there to where if you have to pass someone, then just up your speed and get around them. Company speed policy can be set at whatever but the governors need to be removed.
What I really hate is when I move over to lef some driver merge onto the highway, THEN he ramps it up to match my speed and leaves me hanging out there. I mean, let me back over, then get all the way up to speed. Just a little respect in return isn't too much to ask.
I ran into similar situations once however a slight bit reversed. Merged onto a highway in a construction zone and the stupid trucker finally figured it out that I was coming onto the highway at freeway speed. I heard that trucker lock his brakes as I was merging onto the highway. The other one was last minute quick thinking to avoid hitting a slow moving vehicle on a major interstate. Had to cut a trucker off in the hammer lane. No accidents though and just lucky. I know how it is.
at Atlquotl, you are also suppose to merge onto the highway at highway speed and the worst thing you can do especially in a tractor trailer is stop at the top of the ramp. In driving across the U.S. I was also looking for openings and merging in accordingly. Stopping on an on ramp is very dangerous. Some exceptions where it is unavoidable and you have to stop would be NYC. In the midwest different story especially if you have a lot of time on the ramp before you enter the hwy.
Wow, and I'd originally hit reply to your comment... odd that it didn't come up as a comment... Sorry I think I misunderstood the concept... Figured you were four wheeling, and barged your way in in front of a shiny semi and then got ticked at him for not yielding to you... Thinking of bad movies where someone in a car barges onto an on-ramp in front of a semi and then gets mad at him for his "Bad driving"
@Atlquotl, LOL nah actually I'm looking to merge in with the semi vs. cutting in front of him because I to have my Class A CDL so I'm not your average basic 4 wheeler because I know exactly what to look for and I do give truckers a break. One did clip me once and his ins. co. totaled my car out for more than it was worth. The trucker figured I'd run a yellow light and the other issue was that trucker was bobtailing so that driver goofed. No highway patrol involved and his insurance settled.
@SWIFT95330 Fucking Prime Drivers......I swear they have USB ports implanted into their head and have this very concept downloaded into their brain a dozen times over before they are allowed to take dispatch. They always do this shit to me. Let them merge on then he starts to pass me like I'm fucking tied to a oak tree then the USB port comes out of hibernation and they leave me out there even though they can run 70+. Now I see a prime truck merging....nope, sorry, fuck off and yield bitch! UGHH
LoL, i remember the day i seen a Swift truck trying to pass a Schneider on I-29 south between st.joesph and K.C. ,for 5 miles he just kept at it, schneider wouldnt slow down and swift would not give up on it, cars was lining up in the hammer lane, total retardation
Whenever I see truck trying to pass me, and it's going to take longer than I want...I back off and let them get it done. You onl need to drop 2-3 MPH for about 15 seconds. Then you're back on the case.
I used to work for Werner. The company was fair in general, they tried to treat their drivers with respect and retain them. I made good money when I was a trainer with them, but not as much when I was solo. My only other thing about Werner is I didn't like those seats that they had in those trucks, they were very uncomfortable! Didn't mind the electronic logging either, but I think I'm the only one! LOL!! Good vid!
Yeah, I know that wasn't very nice of me...I had actually slowed down so he would catch up quicker so I could get the clip, It wasn't that long. I still admit it was rude of me. Thanks for keeping it clean and polite.
The I-80 "500"? Hmmm. Back in the old days around 1977, the late Sunday evening, early Monday morning race across I-80 in Pennsylvania was cynically refered to as the "Hunts Point 500." It wasn't any place for an automobile with 1,000 screaming trucks headed east bound with early morning appointments. Does anybody remember the Ho Chi Minh Trail? I'm 63 years old, in excellent health and still truckin.
ehh all companies have their good and bad points i started out working for werner then made the switch to swift in my 1st year lol..nothing like leaving the werner terminal in phoenix and heading over to swift to sign paper work
Yeah I liked the result with the reflections too. I didn't know I was going to end up with that, but it makes it a better clip to watch, I think. I have seen some of the clips from those guys, but need to go back and watch more.
just watched it again for like the 10th time. You know what I like. I like the view from the side mirrors. when you see the trailer..it feels like I'm driving it. For fun I did my own driving video and did some mirror shots...kinda cool.
This makes me love my un-leashed 550 kittyCAT. These idiot companies don't have a company truck that can run with me.
