thanks. It's great to have an example of how not to do it. You ought to do 2 versions. This one and the energized one. John Guare is the most invigorating playwright of the 20th century! His plays get under your skin to break your heart and shake your spirit up out of your spine both! Like a skeleton in your closet dancing with its teeth jabbering. I hadn'y the patience to abide your version long but I believe you have the capacity to let it dance your skeleton. More heartbreaking that way.
@Quajonathan Seriously, get that fucking thing off of your reel!!! The other clips are fantastic. That's a stink bomb - it's going to piss off anyone who loves that play! As in, make them want to throw away your headshot.
Very interesting approach! I played Bananas this past Spring in my university's production. I just posted my monologue for kicks and then yours popped up! Our Ronnie definitely played it with sincerity, but kept it in the vein of comedy. It was very interesting to see your approach! I agree that the pacing was kind of slow--hard to tell if it was drama or line difficulties. But you have a great honesty and depth here that I thoroughly enjoyed. Great voice too! Thank you for sharing. :)
@LizzyM87 i appreciate you leaving a comment. :-) there were no line difficulties. I just let them come out when they were ready. I was trying to make it real, where the lines weren't forced out because they had to be, but rather, when they felt right. But i agree, it is slow. It's fun to just mess around with monologues like that and give them a new meaning. thanks again for the kind words. hope your show was a hit!
@akkidentprone That's what I figured. I could tell that you were comfortable with the material so I figured you were just going with it. It was awesome to see a whole new take on the monologue. I kept thinking that your delivery was very cinematic. Were you involved with the show, or did you read the monologue somewhere?
If you have a chance, I'd love to get your feedback on my monologue. The show went very well. Lots of mixed reactions, but a great appreciation for it regardless of opinion. :)
Don`t listen to Ksologist - everyones a critic! There is more than one way to skin a cat. What you have here is an interpretation and a good one at that! The beauty of the written word is that it can mean different things to each person that reads or preforms it.To have this part played one way and one way only would be boring. This work is well routed and and honest. You might think of mixing the pacing a little but apart from that it was really good! Cheers!
@Scripter555 Thank you very much. I agree. I love seeing dramatic taken in a comedic route and comedic as dramatic. It's called art for a reason. You can create whatever you like. That pacing of this is very slow... i admit it. but thanks for your kind words!
i appreciate your opinion. however this is my version of the monologue. this is not the real monologue, comedic or not. there's a disclaimer in my description. it's just a different take on the great monologue. i'm sorry you didn't like it.
beautiful. powerful. that is all that needs to be said.

Why are you playing it so serious? It's a COMEDIC monologue. That was just horrible, melodramatic, and boring.
