  • and i also thought of all of the things he named. like how it started to topple over at the end and how his kids looked different at the begging and then changed differently at the end.

  • This is one of the most 'EPICEST' (if thats what you call it?) movie EVERRRRRR!

  • I love this movie its a complex movie that is confusing. But if you listen carefully to what they say throughout the movie then the 2nd time it comes to you really easily. And on my opinion at the end nobodys right and nobodys wrong the idea of the movie is to think what you want to believe at the end of the movie, and i wish that there were more complex awesome movies out there like this one. And that hopefully they make another one.

  • i just got inceptioned

  • all i can hate is the buffering. seriously.

  • @MrBlabloooo aaammm ok.... xD

  • Whatever the ending was, the movie sure is a marvelous one.

  • @MrBlabloooo im gonna tell you the truth..... and it's gonna be a lot easier than that........ Cob woke up, because when he is dreaming, the kids are always using the same clothes.... in every dream! (begining, midle,....) .... but, when he gets home at the end of the movie, the clothes are differents. the girl is using a similar clothes, but they aren't the same.... and the boy has a longer hair than in the begining.... check it if you are not sure

  • I think the purpose of the movie is to plant an idea into our brains that he may still be dreaming

  • I believe that there isn't one correct theory...you believe what you want to believe.

  • @ZeroPhoenix7497 i agree with you i think that (how i see it ) at the end when the thing is slowly stop spinning its probably cuz the whole situation befor was maybe a dream and he finally woke up? shit i want to know the real story of leonardo lol

  • im playing hockey on the side

  • Comment removed

  • i love how he says when he has a ring he is in a dream and when he doesnt he is in reality... at the end he has no ring

  • For all saying that Cobbs rign is his totem, it is not. The totem has to be in reality and in the dream, so if it wasn't in reality then it can't be his totem. He uses the top as a reminder of his wife.

  • honestly, i think that that one part where that one thing happened, and the guy did that thing, and they jumped off that thing, never really happened

  • try to pause it perfectly so that the two gaps meet up

  • I think Cobb DID go back to reality because i believe his children are his totem

  • @Rxdrifting LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • at the end of the movie, at the airport, one of the driving services guy is holding a sign that says "LAM" which is Mal backwards. I think the entire movie is one layer in a dream, and Cobb is stuck in it.

  • @Gongbuhae LOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • I believe that the whole movie is a dream. In the chase scene when Cobb runs through the two buildings they close on him little by little in reality buildings don't do that. Also, the totem Cobb uses doesn't tell us if HE is in a dream or not because that was Mal's totem to begin with. At the end we see Cobb finally with his children but when he actually sees them they are in the same exact position as they were in his dream. Seeing their faces doesn't matter and they are both still the same age

  • @5random1 You went out of your way to post this comment on a video about a movie four dont even like?

    Pathetic.

  • remember that the whole crew was training for the job, which may be weeks, giving the grandpa time to get to the states

  • Notice in the dream you don't see the kids' faces (Correct me if I'm wrong.) But at the end you can see their faces.

  • @ttruiett no he just doesn't look at them that's why u dun see their faces, he doesn look coz if he will then he'd be all, this is reality right?

  • @kaaghalaa No.. He sees them and then they run off.. At the end they don't run off. his only memory of them is them running off. They didn't run off at the end.

  • @MIlanSilby I was thinking the same way. he never saw the face of his children looking back at him hindering him to finish his dream about his kids. but on the ending, the kids look back and he saw their faces.

  • looks like julia roberts

  • If Saito is the extractor, it would be a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream... Who knows how many layers. Whoa!

  • i think theres no answer to the ending..theres alot of facts that show that he is dreaming and others that he is not

  • Well I don't Think they aurally killed each other at the end, I think they realized they were dreaming and woke up that way because they weren't sedated so they can just go 'I'm dreaming' and wake up since they were in limbo regular dream rules might not apply seeing as how limbo happened in several seconds. Also the multiplier they had to sedate themselves(mal and Leo) to enter the dream state for 40 years but it doesn't say they did so that would mean they are within a sedated layer because i

  • Inception is a very complex movie.

  • Remember where he shows the girl the part of his dream world where he has to leave and he says 'I want to call out and see their faces but no matter what I do I can't change this.' I think this proves the ending was real.

  • Here's some things I've noticed after multiple views, aside from what most others have already said.

    - When Cobb sees Michael Caine in France, Michael Caine specifically asks him to, "Come back to reality."

    - Before testing the sedative himself, the old man walks up to Cobb and says, "...the dream has become their reality." Then he smirks as he asks, "Who are you to say otherwise, son?"

    - In the same scene after testing, Cobb drops the totem before he can see the result.

  • The sequel to Inception was out before Inception... its called "David after the Dentist - Is this Real Life?"... thats how messed up the dream logic is....

  • Cobb says that totems only work for the ones who make them, he uses Mal's totem, meaning that it doesnt work, its unreliable, it doesnt work for him and the chick never uses her totem, so from the begining it was all a dream. The whole movie is a dream, the ring thing in the dreams that are reality(since i think its all a dream) he doesnt have it because he thinks its reality. So its all a dream, and i think Mal really woke up.

  • I DO think that everithing wraps up by watching it the seccond time, the first movie scene were Dicaprio gets to old saito and convinves him to get out is the scene that must me between the architekt getting out of the last level and Dicaprio´s waking up....besides the ring thing oviously

  • i think its real because you never see the kids faces throughout the dreams and if you saw them in different clothes and age you would not recognize them BOOM mindfuck

  • oh god i forgot about momento. great movie!!!

  • In his house (leo decap's) as he spins the top, hes not wearing a wedding ring. Slow it down and check for yourself. (Its the left hand, btw)

  • it could of spinned, wobbled or whatever but it still would of kept spinning hes dreaming. And his wife is not there because she died in his dream

  • I've seen Inception 6 times.

I still feel like watching it!

  • My totem talks with me, but I think i'm not in a dream...

  • I think that Saito is the extractor and the group planted an idea in Cobbs mind that he should come back to reality and forget Mal, in the end when he comes back to the airport it is still a dream, it might be so that it couldn't be possible to allow him back to the states so Saito called someone to "allow him" to the states. At the end he skips checking if he is in reality, that's where i think he could possibly just be in a dream after all.

  • These people aren't getting that, Cobb says with his children on the phone: "I'm gonna send some presents with grandpa" That means that Michael Caine is going to the USA propably before him, his father knows that he found a job to go to America, and his father meets him and the airport because he was there before metting cobbs childern.

  • He isn't in the dream!! wtf, his totem is not the top thats mal's totem his totem is a wedding ring that he wears when he is inside a dream when he is in reality he doesn't wear it and why would the top wobble if he was inside a dream?

  • @ssj4joker hope you know if you are happy you live in the fake side of the word

  • The end is a bit like "Total Recall" it's up to you what you want to believe. That's why the movie stops before the spinning top starts to wobble.

What is really interesting is when Cobb wakes up from the organized dream at the Alchemists basement. He rushes to the tap to spin his top, but gets interrupted before he can watch the result. The top falls to the ground & he simply puts it away. Now is any of it still real from this point, including future conversations?

  • @pun1978isher DUDE, I honestly thought that I was the only person within my group of friends that noticed that

  • 0:08 pay attention to her boobies!! awesome! Huge!

  • ur all wrong_ he isnt in limbo becuase remeber when cobb and mal were in limbo?well remember how it was ONLY cobb and mal not a whole bunch of other people...geez

  • @jacksonhero625 ye but maybe its not limbo its the 5th dream. lol but i doubt it...

  • its obv hes faced to reality , "welcome home" and when he finally see's his childrens faces, the reason the spin wobbles is because we are meant to be left with indiividual prespectives.

  • Throughout the end credits you can still hear the sound of the top spinning layered beneath the music.

  • How very conservative and american these people are... "I'm just going to believe exactly what I'm told without thinking too hard about it, because thinking makes my brain hurt.!"

  • HE WOKE UP U IDIOTS BELEIVE IN SOMETHING!!!

  • I think because he left Mal that's why his ring is gone and his children were his totems like they said Cobb never listens to his rule and one of his rule was make the totems small and later he accepts the fact he is in limbo so he looks at his childrens face.

  • From the movie's first moment to the end,Cobb was in limbo and Mal(wich mean evil or bad in spanish) was the only one who woke up.that's my conclusion after I watched the movie first time, because when he started using her totem it was worthless and she always sabotaged him,she even said in different parts during the history things like:"what if I am the real one","we still can get old together",and one question: why the kids never changed?.his own idea had infected him(AUTOINCEPTION=FAITH).

  • i think...THAT HIS CHILDREN ARE REALLY ROOSTERS THAT HAVE TOOTHBRUSHES THAT SHOOT LASERS AND ARE REALLY TRYING TO MAKE EVERY ONE FREAKIN CRAZY SO WHEN EVERYONE THINKS THERE DREAMING THEY'LL HAVE SEX WITH MOTHER NATURE AND EVERYONE WILL THINK ITS NORMAL!

  • Also, why would Michael Caine be in a dream when he was pleading for Cobb to come back? Caine had left the dream world so if it was a dream at the end, he wouldn't have been there.

  • Plus, his kids ARE wearing different clothes. its just hard to spot. also, how did he get to los angeles so quickly? oh okay, we'll just watch about 2 hours of him getting into the airport, getting on to the plane, watching a few on board movies, etc. its called skipping past stuff we don't NEED to see. jeepers :L

  • Jesus Christ. The ending isn't IMPORTANT. its the fact he looked away from his totem which reveals how he doesn't care whether hes dreaming or not. he's just happy to see his children.

  • Fuck.. you.. christopher..

  • when we see the children's clothes at the first scene (in the memories of cobb) the little girl wears a red dress but under she seams to wear a white t-shirt....

AT THE LAST SCENE SHE ONLY WEARS A RED DRESS....

so this is why i think that the end is not a dream but reality...!!!

  • Could the ending scene when he's not wearing the ring also interpret the fact that he finally left Mal after the final dream sequence? So many theories...

  • Whether the dream is a reality or not isn't the important part. What's important is that Cobb was willing to accept whether he was in reality or a dream. If you'll notice, Cobb doesn't stay to watch the totem. He leaves it on the table. He doesn't care whether he's in a reality or not. What's really important to him is that he's with his children again.

  • these peoples stupidity is pissing me off.

  • Where is Freddy when you need him??

  • lol lemme just put out a scenario

Movie-guy: Well it doesnt look like we can squeeze in the last few seconds of the movie where the totem stops spinning and we know hes in reality...

Movie-Guy #2: boy....thats gonna leave alot of people confused!

  • its not that complicated!!!!!!!!!! completely understandable!!!!!

  • I still think that cobb don't want to know what's real and what's a dream.

  • i hate this supid advertising

  • Stop saying Omgomfgyesyes plz sequel!!!!

BECAUSE THERE WOULD BE NO POINY

  • @Kracker5000 What if Warner Brother caves to your demands and puts in a pony?

  • @dghansen85

    Point*

  • my totem's still spinning...is that a bad thing..

  • @xEastendersx Have you seen Inception? Yes, that's a bad thing.

  • The totem bobbled. He was awake. End of movie

  • Some poeple say that the totem falls down after the credits ! I watch the blu-ray and there's nothing !

  • @aya9489 no, nothing happens after the credits... its just people that want to make other people feel left out

  • @aya9489 only in the theaters

  • this review made my head hurt worse then the actual movie itself!

  • jeez i think some of you people look waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far into this

  • when cobb wakes up from trying the sedative, he goes to the bathroom to splash his face with water. after doing so, he goes to spin his totem to ensure that he is in reality, though he is unsuccessful because he is interrupted by kato who appears at the door. the totem falls to the ground and there is a scene cut -- cobb is not shown to spin it again. what if everything after that is a dream, and he never woke up from the sedative?

  • The endiong is not a dream. If it was a dream he would have a ring on his left finger. In the dreams he has a ring on. But in real life he doesnt

  • @AWES0MEKLUTCH Cobb's totem is his wedding ring, yes, but his left hand is hidden from sight after he wakes up on the plane.

  • @MightyTreeMan No it isnt. Wtch it when he gives his passport to the guard

  • @AWES0MEKLUTCH Okay, you're right. Very briefly, his ring finger is visible, and he isn't wearing his ring. That's how you know he isn't dreaming.

  • @MightyTreeMan YAY HAPPY ENDING

  • omg you penis americans. STOP INTERUPTING EACH OTHER!!

    egotistical fucks.

  • even christopher nolan dont know what the hell is ending,,,

  • that didnt explain shit

  • now apply the same concept of dream vs.reality to life and after life! basically is your true being after you die or is it the present? you can never answer this...the ancient hindu scriptures had mentioned this concept as "satya" or "maya" several centuries ago..chris noland just ripped off the idea from them!

  • what if cobbs father is his totem?

  • Wouldn't the fact that the top is Mal's totum and not Cobb's affect it? When the idea of the totum is brought up, it's told that it's an object that only the specific person can use.

  • @curly0805 yeah but since cobb knows all the aspects of the spinny top thingy its basically his, the only reason why one person can use a totem is so they can tell whether theyre in someone elses dream or not, since they are the only one s who know the weight of their totem

  • @wlcm2th3nfl Yeah and since Mal died theres really no point...unless Mal's projection can be able to manipulate Cobb's totem cause she knows the aspects as well.

  • the movie expert got it wrong it aint a dream the kids cant turn round in the dream and micheal caine says his scenes are in the real world

    great expert lol

  • Cobb is not cobb its a mental patient in shutter island !! Its all made up !

  • here is my theory of the movie...

you are all idiots! cobb is not dreaming at the end. you are all overthinking this movie. stick to the plot that is given to you!

  • @thrice302

    ur right because

    not wearing his wedding ring

    kids turn round

and the spinner never wobbles at all in the dream world

  • well... all i know is the ending of this movie is a mystery.. we dont know its real or dream for sure.. even if we say about this wedding ring we still not sure perfectly cuz of that thing kept spinning till the end.. sry for the bad english

  • @CHKNSFKN FTW!? Asians acting as his family?

  • I dont wanna repeat myself on every video about the ending of this movie, but the ending means that he realizes that the top is not important. His children are. So, he forsakes the top for his children. Real, or dream.

  • based on that theory, when they put Cobb under to test that Pharmacists seditive in the basement, they never brought Cobb back to reality because for the ending to be a dream and those Asiant acting as his family Cobb and the Asians all have to be connected to the same dream machine

  • Thats true, when he's in real life he doesnt have his wedding ring and at the end at the airport he didnt have his ring on so that tells us he's in reality but then why would they end the movie with that thing still spinning? Was his aim let us think we've solved it but at the same time leave us a little unsure? id rather be completely unsure but If he is still in a dream at the end, all those Asians in the basement under the pharmacists shop are acting as his kids and his father

  • @CHKNSFKN Because cutting away before you're sure makes the whole theatre groan with cliffhanger suspense, and fuels all this post-movie debate.

  • @CHKNSFKN those 'asians' are africans..

  • It's really confusing but after watching it 6 times I think I've figured it out, thumbs up if you agree with me.

Remember Cob said that the totum can only be yours and only you can have the feel of it for it to have value. But, the spinning top was his wife's so every scene with the top is invalid. His real totum is his wedding ring. If you watch again you will notice he only has his wedding ring on in the dream, because he was still with Mal then. The whole movie is him in limbo.

  • @buhreezayyx3 good theory but that isnt true, i know it sounds impossible but i think you've gone too deep into the idea of the movie. Great idea though :)

  • @buhreezayyx3 good theory but that isnt true, i know it sounds impossible but i think you've gone too deep into the idea of the movie. Great idea though :) not to mention a totum is something you have in the real world and in the dreamworld so the ring would not be possible

  • o think it was real. (probably because i love lenny d and i wnt im to be with his family)

  • any one else notice that the way totems are explained, they are useless in your own dream. so the top spinning was a red herring

  • This might be stupid but i will share it anyway. Remember that part when cobb went to test the elixir that yusuf gave him, before cobb went to sleep yusuf said the elixirs could go for about 40 hours... don't you guys think he woke up way to fast? And when he went to the bathroom and he tried to use his totem but it fell because saido interrupted him?... i think he was still dreaming

  • I ve a sick theory!!!

The children were his totem and they were not older in the end.

He s still in the dream after he falls with the van into the water.

Because you CANT skipping levels of a dream.

He dont wearing his ring in the end cause he knows thats he s still in a dream and he accepted that his wife is a lie

  • The kids' grandpa was there because he was going for christmas, remember in a call that Dicaprio made to his children he said he was going to send gifts when grandpa goes. Also, in that phone call, wasn't there a third kid named Phil?!

  • I think Christopher Nolan's just such a good director that people automatically assume his movies have some big, important meaning and he doesn't even have to try anymore.

  • Amazing film,

but that bitch needs to stop screaming over everyone.. lol

  • At the end he was actually reunited with his kids, REAL. This is the reason he did the inception in the first place = to get back to his kids.

    So it all worked out..

  • anyways, dream or no dream, it's nevertheless a great movie!,made me had really weird dreams for several nights after watching it haha : P

  • good point about the granddad going from France to America so fast.. but if you remember in the movie (saw it in theatres, and again the other day!) that he introduces Leo's character to the girl, who became the architect. They trained and were getting the plans together for the plane trip.. could have taken several days, so its not suprising to me he was already waiting at the airport in america for Leo. awesome movie though!!

  • if he was in a dream i think his wife would be there....and i have seen the movie

  • @MegaUraniumMan but he cleared his wife from his subconciousness remember and put her to rest

  • i wish my dreams were as vibrant as Inception portrays them as

  • I think they played Minecraft too long xD

  • Just got myself a DVD and finally had a chance to watch the movie for the first time. Good punchline at the end but after playing the ending and the scenes a couple times im pretty sure Cobb was back in reality. Besides him not wearing the ring and the spinning top wobbling. Just compare near the end of scene 2 when he got a call from the kids, to the ending scene, the kids are taller, the daughter had a white t-shirt under the dress, wore diff shoes, n the boy had different color shorts too.

  • @nam1220 I agree with you...My brother and I did the same thing you did, we compared the children from his dream to the ones at the end and they are DEFINITELY different. I think Christopher Nolan had them dress similar just to make people think about it

  • He's not dreaming in the end, though it would suck if a second one was made.

  • This life is by definition an illusion [ looking from a quantum physics perspective ]. Only when we "die" = " "You are waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away."= we are going to reach the absolute reality. Until then, we are dreaming inside of a dream.

  • @kafka27 You took the movie far too serious

  • @BoznianBeast Not at all..I just like the idea.. but check this out and try to put all together..

    /watch?v=30mzNPT7aAU

  • @kafka27 Afterlife,i know about that. Were you die and everything becomes more bright and clear, yet, at the same time, it feels as if someone is controlling your body, taking you into a better place.

It's called Dreaming. when you die you start to dream at first because your brain hasen't recognized the fact that your dead.

Theres a reason sleep is the cousin of death.

  • I think its simple...he wouldnt stay with his dream wife and dream kids...so why would he settle to just stay with his dream kids...i think he would have done anything to be with his real kids

  • I have a question. You know the totem that Cobb has? So, in reality it will obviously stop spinning because of gravity and all that. But I don't get why a totem can't stop spinning inside a dream. Anything can happen in dreams right? and everything is realistic. Wouldn't the totem stop spinning inside a dream too?

  • @IanMaster619 You know the kicks that wake them up, they are real, using the real use of gravity, same with the memento things they have, they bring them into the dream world, therefore they have the same recognition of gravity.

  • @aR4ND0Mrabbit OHHHHHHH thank you soo much

  • In the other hand, Cobb rolled the totem a few times during the movie and it fell, which means that not tho whole movie was a dream.

  • @Mostwantedo In my opinion Leo's character never got out of limbo, and the real ending is everyone waking up seeing that Cobb is dead (Well actually out of his mind) and they cry they get sad and then arrive....

On the other hand, the movie just cuts to the end with the totem rolling, maybe 0.05 seconds later it fell down...

Cobb is suposed to be wearing a wedding ring when dreaming, and NO wedding ring when awake...

at the last scene he has got NO wedding ring, so we conclude he actually did it

  • @Bloggin101 Yeah. Hope he's not dreaming. Amazing movie.

  • i just finished watching this movie....now im going to watch it everyday for the rest of my life until i get it!

  • 4 people are in a dream.

  • haha I like his idea that arthur planted the inception in cobb's mind

just because he's such a badass

  • 4 people are in Limbo.

  • @13lack13andet 3 people went to save them but failed :o

  • ad blocker stop working?! OMG IM IN A DREAM!!!!!!!!!

  • I think i'm still in a dream. I queues i have to shoot by brains out to wake up. Don't you agree?

  • @NDSCollector disagreed lame lame comment

  • @NDSCollector learn how to spell first

  • i would like to inception that chicks chest, seriously.

  • @BHMatrix

HAHA true tat ma man. Fuck trying to interpret the ending and go straight for the lady's goods :D

  • it mind fucked me!

  • just watch this :

    watch?v=20xD7eTcrxM

  • The girl was wearing different shoes in the end and he saw their faces. Suck it Roeper.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE, SO, SO MUCH!

  • fuck u he woke up lol

  • Most incredible film and music of all time.

  • for as much i would love to have christopher nolan explain to me the ending and give me a decisive outcome, i love the mystery he presents us with

  • I LOVE THE MOVIE!!!

  • The ending where the totem seems to wobble could be that he is in his own dream so the totem falling means nothing anyway because if he is in his own dream he can control the outcome of the totem. It could also be that the top wobbles because his dream is unstable for some reason, that happens through the whole movie.

    That's my theory anyway.

  • I think that the he is in a dream the whole movie because of the kids. They didn't have kids while they were experimenting with their dreams together otherwise why would they bother (I was under the impression they experimented with dreams to escape reality)? Then when they come out (or don't) of their experiments you are not told how or when they actually had children. I think the whole movie is Cobbs dream and he never really had any children or a wife.

  • @whyplaytheracecard But that would be such a terrible movie and like the guy said it's a total cop out. I mean it is the ultimate way to ruin the story just say none of it mattered it was all a dream.
