@thehobo204 Yeah, that's great. I have seen Mythbusters get it wrong quite a few times. I have 3 engineering degrees and I have seen them set the experiments up WAY wrong.
@cheesealtar Oh my, somebody telling me that I am wrong, when they cannot even write a clear sentence, lmfao. Give me a break: these guys are in special effects, NOT ENGINEERING. It is for entertainment, nothing more. If you are too stupid to see the errors they make, then take your ass back to school and get a degree. Until then, STFU, because you don't know WTF you are talking about!
That's very interesting. I would expect it to embed itself deep into the ice, not bounce back up. How deep is the ice/snow and what sort of ground was beneath it? I wonder how fast it was spinning there. Probably 10s of thousands of RPM I'll bet. It keeps spinning so LONG on such a lousy surface after all.
Ofcourse it spins! The grooves in the barrel of the gun makes it spin as it flies through the air. By shooting in the ice you stop the forward travel but the spin continues.
cool discovery, surprised the bullet isn't deformed from hitting the ice and bouncing back, but you pointed the chambered gun right at the camera man after shooting the target at 2:16... that's bad juju. bad juju.
That is pretty cool to see, but is it the most retarded thing ever. No gun safety!!, this is why people think guns are bad. No many risks the way they are testing this.
Ice is cold. Its like a person skating, if ice was warm they wouldnt slide too far due to friction. The bullet continues to spin because of the lack of friction and tremendous velocity. For them people who think this is fake or some other shit.
@tubagoo2them00n Your kidding, right? Cuz the camera and their hands move around in the backround and interact with the "animated" object. Do you have any fucking idea how complicated that is to do with stop motion animation, smart guy? as weird as it seems, this is probably real.
@dbpharm29 Yes, I am aware that they are FMJ however the bullet they are firing is a .40cal round, which come stock with a blunt nose. I saw no deformation of that bullet.
@ranseed1 just the risk of a riochet. but by the looks of it its realy interesting. the ice stops the forward momentum but there is so little friction that it keeps spinning. pretty damn cool if you ask me!
man thats crazy, i had no idea they would spin that fast out of the barrel, you can hear that second one just whizzing, awsome vid, seems just a little dangerous though, but to each thier own! good stuff
@plumbpetti yeah i cleaned out my dads beratta barrel the rifling doesnt seem like it would spin THAT rapidly but i guess at the speed that the bullet is moving at, really adds up.
@masalb2 LOL wtf are you talking about kid, are you game crazy that you have to bring up COD? (which I don't play) All I asked was if it has to be a 9mm bullet in order for it to spin and if using a .22 bullet would spin or not. Look to the side --------------------> I was watching the "9mm bullet spin" and accidentally went back to this tab and asked.
Sigh* This is what happens when kids play too much game, it's on your mind constantly that you have to use it in all your insults probably
@armorersvault no its not spinning because of steam, its spinning because of the spiral grooves in the barrel of the gun as the bullet passes through the barrel the groves cause the bullet to spin to madge it more accurate like a football thrown in a perfect spiral. so the bullet is already spinning when it his the ice and it then acts like a top
This is why the liberals continue to try and pass crazy gun laws because of IRRESPONSABLE gun users like this douche bag. There was a good chance someone could have gotten killed or at the very least injured because of this typical, hypermasculine insecurity, manifested in poor decisions and zero respect for handguns, all to show off and prove something... to people on YouTube. Wouldn't be surprised if Nancy Pelosi uses this video in her next anti-gun campaign.
@PaulPradaShow What you don't think a spinning bullet on ice is cool? Why did you watch this video. You're just supporting him like bieber haters watching bieber videos. Besides, he's probably Canadian. We don't have that anti-gun/pro gun bullshit you guys have to deal with. On a whole, the country is a lot safer with guns.
@xTwizzT OF COURSE! The heats and friction form a lubricating water layer o the ice! Forward momentum ceases when the bullet strikes the ice, but the spin continues due to the low resistance!
I saw Mythbusters doing this. I can't believe it worked. I would have thought the bullet would just smash into the ice and probably deform the moment it hit. However, it would seem this does work. The bullet stays in shape and is left spinning.
Paper mushrooms a bullet? What kind of bullet are you firing? For that matter, what kind of paper are you firing it at? Cus I'm sure the military would love to get their hands on that stuff.
one word... wow... im not going to question if this is real or fake for it obviously is but how does it work? i understand the concept of rifling and its effect but there are a million questions still. why no ricochet? is the bullet spinning on its point of impact? why didnt it go through or atleast crack the ice? so many questions, so few characters.
@JustYourAverageNick for real. And that's some pretty soft recoil for a .40. and that's got to be the biggest .40 round ive ever seen. must be that new 400 grain load.
The reason that it spins is because inside the barrel, there are nicks and swirls to make it spin for accuracy, and since the ice isn't rough like concrete, or squishy and sticky like balistic gel, it doesn't stop spinning until it just looses volocity due to friction the round is causing. its science, not magic, this myth is real, it does work
