You are probably right. You can see that the wooden board vibrates a little, right after I span it and that means that some of the energy from the spin was used to move the board.

maybe if u mounted the 3 stationary arms seperatly onto that 1 pivot point you would get a more chaotic and diverse set of motions if the top and bottom swung one way and the middle swung the other, of course with some sort of space between each pendulum, but mate i have to say great job, especially for a small project.

Actually, I think that would make it end sooner. More link means more relative motion within the system and thus more friction forces, which always reduces the energy of a system.

I'd like to deliver a different opinion that the friction would stop various smaller pendulums from turning at all, and so only the lowest friction pendulums will turn. The efficiency of the structure will thus increase.
