There is no way Xbox 360 OR PS3 could have 64 players. But they could have at least made the stretch for 32 players. Even Homefront had 32 players and Homefront was a vast dissapointment.

One of the things that make Minecraft so great is that it is programmed in Java. Programming in an engine like this, though it would greatly improve the graphics, would completely get rid of multi-platform/OS compatibility, and even trouble the still-small company Mojang with the different versions of the engine (for the different platforms/OS's it is going to run on).
Yeah, I think Java and pixel-ated graphics would do just fine, for me. ;)
Everyone who thinks DICE is being a dick about not giving consoles 64 players should know that it's your silly console's fault. And no, don't try going all "yeah, but MAG had over 100 players!". Compared to that game's engine, Frostbite is insanely more advanced. Just face it, if you want the real Battlefield feeling, get a PC. At least PC games aren't overpriced. PCs can be made for gaming, but it's a multitask and -media machine. Consoles are just keeping technology in games from advancing.

If consoles never existed, we would just end up with the same games just with fancier looking graphics or effects. New or heavily improved technology is not going to magically spark some creative flare in developers. If better looking fog or higher player counts are all it can produce, I think I'll sit comfortably with gaming as it is now.

In all honesty this game will ruin MW3 and you do have to admit consoles from 2005/2006 run games better than alot of pc's and they only cost $300 compared to a $2000 pc rig that can make the game look "slightly" better than consoles. granted hardware wise consoles are trash but its the developers job to optimize games for the consoles and even then they still preform better than your over-priced pc counter-part :)

Just, some games have better service and more patches (like tf2, I think) on pc, hopefully consoles will get that later as well. And, some people might prefer PC, as they make gameplay videos. Many effects such as slowmotion depend on a high FPS level, and that's where the PC comes in.

The engine isn't just about looking pretty its mostly based on destruction, and the lighting. and if you really look hard at both crysis 2 and bf3. crysis is just a shiny cartoon where as bf3 means business. i heard somewhere i forget where but that in each one of those balls you see, contain more lighting programs than an entire map of Battlefield bad company 2. And Okay I have to give you, the GTA4 mod looks pretty nice, even though it's not an engine. But the lighting still is no comparison to Frostbite Engine 2! Plus the sound in BF3 rocks the world!
The first/original Mirror's Edge ran on the Unreal 3 engine. I even ran into almost the same graphics problems with it like the other (un-updated) Unreal 3 games I played in my PC, to be honest. LOL. However, the EA Games president did hint that the second game may likely run under the awesome Frostbite 2. Let's just wait and see. :D

i would rather have intense, epic gameplay with more than 24 players for console than have pretty graphics that are fun to look at. i know that DICE can include more than 24 players if they kept bc2 graphics (good enough graphics so you can see what your shooting at) and focused their time on gameplay. 12 people simply cant fly all the jets, all the heli's, all the tanks, and still have footsoldiers like in battlefield 2. Gameplay beats Graphics no doubt. you pc players are lucky you get both

and if you want to talk about competition-wise gaming. well, MLG essentially started out in Halo 2, which was on CONSOLE. sorry to tell you, but there is a reason why PC gamers are always in the shadows... because they dont want to go outside, and because they are just too damn expensive. So i'm glad to own a 6 year old computer that can play awesome games. I really don't give a fuck for better graphics, and if you look at side by side comparisions of gameplay, they really arent that different.

In all honesty this game will ruin MW3 and you do have to admit consoles from 2005/2006 run games better than alot of pc's and they only cost $300 compared to a $2000 pc rig that can make the game look "slightly" better than consoles. granted hardware wise consoles are trash but its the developers job to optimize games for the consoles and even then they still preform better than your over-priced pc counter-part :)

@xViZoNZx 2000 dollars is overkill, 1000 is enough. This isn't a gaming laptop we're talking about, and apparently consoles will run it at 30 fps (which is fine), and will have less people in a single room in multiplayer, so it's not just looking a little bit better.
But wait, you can't say that a console will perform better than that 2000 dollar gaming PC.
That overpriced gaming pc which is totally unnecessary can probably run it on max settings with an obscene amount of fps. For the insane.

@Travaillons yes but my point being that its stupid to say consoles cant do this or do that in a game. im always hearing 360 is a hardware fail and blah blah blah. (in reality 360 hardware and PS3 hardware is trash) but both consoles still preform just as good as your average gaming PC with hardware that puts consoles to shame. Only game ive seen now days that looks 100x better on pc than consoles is Crysis 2 and the DX11 patch they just released makes it look even better than ever before.

Just, some games have better service and more patches (like tf2, I think) on pc, hopefully consoles will get that later as well. And, some people might prefer PC, as they make gameplay videos. Many effects such as slowmotion depend on a high FPS level, and that's where the PC comes in.

The engine isn't just about looking pretty its mostly based on destruction, and the lighting. and if you really look hard at both crysis 2 and bf3. crysis is just a shiny cartoon where as bf3 means business. i heard somewhere i forget where but that in each one of those balls you see, contain more lighting programs than an entire map of Battlefield bad company 2. So if you dont think that is impressive your a crack head.

Please do some research. CryEngine 2 and 3 also show off Radiosity and they still have a lot more to show than BF3. Don't act as if Frostbyte is the first engine to support Radiosity. In fact. Do you know Mirror's Edge? That game is filled with Radiosity and it runs on Unreal Engine 3.

@TrickyEmu Yes Mirrors Edge, which is also a creation by Dice, has radiosity. But the Problem is, that it's not dynamic radiosity, It's all pre-baked! In BF3 the lighting can change - destruction - ! Plus, Frostbite2 supports the best Character animations ever in shooters!
And Okay I have to give you, the GTA4 mod looks pretty nice, even though it's not an engine. But the lighting still is no comparison to Frostbite Engine 2! Plus the sound in BF3 rocks the world!
No Crysis achieves this!

The first/original Mirror's Edge ran on the Unreal 3 engine. I even ran into almost the same graphics problems with it like the other (un-updated) Unreal 3 games I played in my PC, to be honest. LOL. However, the EA Games president did hint that the second game may likely run under the awesome Frostbite 2. Let's just wait and see. :D

i would rather have intense, epic gameplay with more than 24 players for console than have pretty graphics that are fun to look at. i know that DICE can include more than 24 players if they kept bc2 graphics (good enough graphics so you can see what your shooting at) and focused their time on gameplay. 12 people simply cant fly all the jets, all the heli's, all the tanks, and still have footsoldiers like in battlefield 2. Gameplay beats Graphics no doubt. you pc players are lucky you get both

@avshaman How about you go take a look at the PC version of BC2, and the Xbox or PS3 version of BC2. THEY LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME. The only difference is the 60 Fps for PC, or the so called "Higher Resolution", which is a crock of shit considering that I have a fucking 26" O-LED Flatscreen with 120hz frame rate that puts out 1080p or i, it can do both. Anyways point is, your PC may be more powerful, but its not MADE for games, YOU make it PLAY Games... Thats why consoles arent dead yet.
