  • Man, What a send off

  • it a good end for an hotel

  • yeah 1999 is totally incorrect i used to live ont the strip and it was always there until 3-13-07

  • Added: March 13, 2007

fireworks then a biulding collapse ,only in Vagas i soppose.

  • it's amazing how many people were counting down faster than the giant numbers were going down

  • lmfao! did they not know at the end that it exploded?

  • this is sad

  • I hope it wasn't 1999. My Wife and I stayed there on our wedding night 09.24.2005. I had to come by and see this again. It seems like so long since March came around. I really don't feel comfortable going to any other casino in Vegas. In fact, I haven't been since just before the Stardust closed. It was the first and only casino I've stayed in and I'll tell you now. Whatever that new P.O.S. is that they're building, don't expect me to stay in it. FUCK PROGRESS!!!

  • It looked much better in real time...trust me i was there

  • It was not 1999, it was in March 2007. I stayed across the street at the Wynn in late February and I took many pictures of it with no glass. I could see thru the casino.

  • It wasn't 3-13-07, it was 12-31-1999

  • That would be the Hacienda.

  • dur 3-13-07 was when its posted you stupid moron

  • WTH!? I didn't see the implosion coz it was too dark.

  • that is probably the best demolition ive ever seen, it makes me very sad though altough i never stayed there :(

  • lol...I have this same video. I was on the top of the parking structure at the Wynn. What an awesome night!!!

  • awsome! thanks stardust for the good memories

  • dude...i still wondering wat was that little light show they had on the building during the fireworks display does anybody wat it is cuz 5 other people were asking it to

  • U fukin stupid asss bitch merk98house theres always the one guy who complains about something. ur so fuken stupid. maybe if u had a little joy inside ud understand why they did the fireworks. they tried to make it a show cock suker.!!!FUKEN EMO ASS BITCH!!!

  • hahahahaha, aaaamen!

  • Another great one lost to "progress". I moved from Las Vegas last year (if they close the 'Dust sports book, why stay?) but came back just for the implosion and I'm glad I did. A nice Royal rooftop view gave me an unforgettable memory. Your video lets me relive it whenever I want. You did a great job on your website and did a better job with your videos on this classic joint. To all that worked there and made it what it was and to you for capturing history - thank you... thank you very much!

  • damn! vegas' has got it all! even to blow up a building they have lights and shit! go VEGAS!

  • merk98house: This casino was an important icon on the strip, with a great deal of history surrounding it. For those of us who appreciate that history and the appeal of it's older landmarks, this was a sad thing to watch. Vegas is all about pageantry and flair -- what didn't you like about a great fireworks show to commemorate one of the last great Vegas hotels?

  • What a waste of time...blow the damm thing up already and stop wasting time with all the light and sound effects. Then when it does crash down, you can't even see the damm thing. Even the gay tiger guys were better than this crap.

  • This was awesome! I was actually walking down the strip and just saw a big crowd, and fireworks started going off So i stayed and watched it. The dust and smoke afterwards was all in our hotel lobby and the smoke detectors went off.

  • Ah the end of an era. But they should have done it during the day though.

  • They did the Aladdin in the daytime. Boring. Much better visuals at night (even at 2am).

  • that was kool

  • LOOKS JUST LIKE WTC7 on 9/11/01 ! Except the one on 9/11 was CLEANER !! HA!

  • Perhaps there was a good reason for this implosion not to be clear enough! Ha!

  • I was gonna go to this but I forgot about it, then 2:30 in the morning I hear crazy banging and I look outside and see the fireworks going off, wish I went to it

  • The implosion of the Stardust combines in one show elements from a few past Vegas implosions: that of the Dunes and Hacienda (the fireworks), and that of the Boardwalk (the way the big building fell). The visual countdown is the one new element. Overall, a GRAND (literally) finale to one of Vegas' hottest and most historically significant casino resorts.

  • For those who don't know, Stardust was one of the early casinos that made Las Vegas famous. Later on, Caesar's Palace, etc, came in to give Vegas a more modern look.

  • that was anti-climactic

  • next is the iconic Flamengo

  • travisdt: Actually the FLAMINGO will be around for a while as there are no plans to implode it and they have started to renovate the property.

  • The towers collapsed from the top down, this building imploded, zippyzeee.

  • Not Wtc7

  • I hope nobody was in there

  • Reminds Me Of The Demolition Of World Trade Centre Building 7 On 9/11

  • Erm, what the hell, wtf is this crappy building? And why so much firework and people just for it to be taken down? Jeezus. o_O

  • I'm glad they gave her a proper send-off.

  • The Stardust ended up a pile of dust..

  • Can't see much of the actual implosion.. they should've shined some lights towards the end.

  • Why did they have fireworks at an implosion???

  • Cus it's Vegas, baby!

  • Because Americans celebrate EVERYTHING.

  • What's wrong with having fun???

  • Makes me sad :(

  • WOW...so intense

  • Reminds Me Of The Demolition Of World Trade Centre Building 7 On 9/11

  • troll

  • true

  • Yeah, except in Vegas, a whole lot of really really loud explosions actually went off before the building came down.

  • so sad, i worked there for 12 years!

  • It was the first casino I stayed in Vegas over 20 years ago.

  • I cried watching this video. I never stayed there, but I had so much fun inside. Great video.

  • so they imploded it at 2:30am?

  • yes it was quite an event

  • thats quite odd to do it at that time. if it was like 8pm just as the sun went down yeah its reasonable. but 2:30am people are sleeping i suppose.

  • Whenever I'm in Vegas, I generally sleep during the morning and afternoon, and then am up in the evening and night until about 5am. I know a lot of other people who do it that way, too.

  • They seem to out do themselves with each new implosion.

There's not much left on the strip from old Vegas.

The Trop, The Frontier, and... is the HO still there?

  • Sadly, the HO is no mo

  • I actually watched this with tears in my eyes. It's just very sad to see it go.

  • "Nobody told me there'd be days like these. Strange days, indeed." -- John Lennon.

"Though I dream in vain, in my heart it will remain. My Stardust melody - The memory of love's refrain." -- Hoagy Carmichael.

  • Joel -- you captured it perfectly. An awesome tribute. Thank you!! Absolutely spectacular.

  • Never stayed at the Stardust, but it's a real piece of Old Vegas and it's sad to see it go - surely it could've been beautified like the Aladdin? I just hope they're building a new hotel on the site, and not more damn condos.

  • awesome

  • yes a new high class hotel, from the same people

  • The Echelon Towers, which will be open in 2010. It'll have something like 6700 hotel suites, one tower will be rooms only, no gaming. It's the new thing here in Vegas - you don't remodel, you build up...everyone has towers now
