This is science fiction for girls. Basically no science, just a matronly spinster and an effeminate older man. They're like a lesbian couple, only picard is the female.
this show was before i was born but i love it none the less. it makes me sad to know that i watch a show that was popular 20 years ago. but then again it is a timeless series.

This is perhaps the gayest scene in the gayest television show ever aired in these United States. I also love how all the chicks have these gigantic packages.
How fitting FAGcard is playing the flute, judging by his homo clothing he's just returning from playing the Nutbuster Sweet on Riker's junk.

Ya know, I really doubt it. This garbage has nothing to do with science fiction. It's for fat ugly girls who no dude would ever touch to squoink themselves to.
No heterosexual man would ever think this is watchable.

@sondano That doesn't make sense. LOL - Just hearing this incredibly gay clip from this gay assed show is making me laugh. The cheesy over sentimental schmaltz is unreal. I love how everything that happens in this show had nothing to do with science fiction, instead it had wooden actors acting precious all the time. If you like this show you are either a 16 year old fat girl or a fag.
You know this segment of Lessons stood out as one of the most remembered moments in TNG for me. My late grandmother got me into TNG at a very young age, and I've loved it ever since. It's hard to believe that these episodes were all shot so long ago. TNG will live on forever :-).
Because she's playing the "background" notes for the song. Usually, for the background music, the background is played just a half-step lower or higher than the actual notes. If you notice in most music.. there's dual-layers of music, the background and the actual notes either sung or played up front.
As much as I love TNG, one thing that shows how old it is, is the fact that a councillor is involved with Battle decisions! OR the moment the ship gets into battle "Red Alert...senior staff, lets have a conference on this in the conference room!"
Blimey, it sounds so strange when you think this was actually 20 years ago. Time has not ravaged this show at all, it remains as fresh and poignant now as it was then. I love it!
Not so. It's a standard piano keyboard. Just a different one. It's an electronic flat panel keyboard. Though, at that time, there were only a few of those kinds of pianos created. But, it's "real." In the recent several years, they've come out with flat panel "key-touch" pianos. Standard piano keyboards, only on a compact scale.
Perhaps the most subtle and moving part of the whole TNG series and also one of the great pieces of movie making. A brilliant piece of work. My hat goes off to the nerdz who made this possible.
Incidentally Wendy Hughes is one of the few Australian voices I ever recall hearing on Star Trek! Subsequently this ep got a fair bit of press in Aus, in spite of TNG's cult status here.
This I think was really emotional because the song that Picard plays to him it is one to be never shared with anybody, but he plays it for her and for the first time we see the Captain showing his emotions.
This is my favorite scene from Star Trek:TNG, I had this memorized on the piano when I was younger, and also saxophone. It is a very catchy beautiful tune. :)
This is what i was looking for! Thank you :)

This is sheer beauty. I've always liked this piece from the moment I heard it in The Inner Light; it's simple, but elegant in it's simplicity.
Anyone who can't or won't appreciate this kind of music has no heart and is a supreme example of what is wrong with the human race.

I'd like to know the rule which says "Romance and sci-fi don't mix." Anyone????

TNG was made 20 years ago. It's correct.
But:
TNG is actually (for us) like a eternal fresh show.
More exactly. TNG is a window to the future. So It's no a "old" TV show.
vayoran 2 years ago
As much as I love TNG, one thing that shows how old it is, is the fact that a councillor is involved with Battle decisions! OR the moment the ship gets into battle "Red Alert...senior staff, lets have a conference on this in the conference room!"

You are wrong.
Troy is not a simple councillor. She can advise what are sensing the other minds.
Thats fantastic and futurist. TNG is not old. We are.

Oh and to top it off, video error, she rolls out the keyboard but then while she is playing it is placed on top of a rack. lololol
iloveihop07 2 years ago 3
There aren't nearly enough keys on that keyboard thing to play the Moonlight Sonata.
Why don't they just use the holodeck to get peferct tone/acoustic sound?
She would have to be an amazing musician to pick out the chords CORRECTLY Picard was playing on his flute-like instrument.
She isn't even using proper form to play a piano/keyboard/instrument with keys.
So many errors... but a good episode nontheless lol.
iloveihop07 2 years ago
also, the scene was filmed in a studio- the Enterprise wasn't even a real space ship :-)
you're right about it being a good episode though
place910 2 years ago
She wanted a real atmosphere for the love. The holodeck is negative for this.
vayoran 2 years ago

"The Inner Light" is the ep where this tune originates - Picard (in his other lifetime) learned to play the flute.

This I think was really emotional because the song that Picard plays to him it is one to be never shared with anybody, but he plays it for her and for the first time we see the Captain showing his emotions.
