I grew up with the sound this group. Their musid is simple soul. My brther and I formed a group in the late 60's and performed a number of their renditions. alas not as good as these guys.
Brilliant, thanks for uploading. Great memories of great days walking round Carnaby Street with my mate chatting up girls lol. Great song. It epitomises the era.
@EtereRadioascolto One of the authors that is. The other, Mogol (one of the most important italian lyricists and songwriters ever), is still alive and well. Battisti was mainly a singer and almost always composed with Mogol (though he has composed some solo stuff and other with his wife). The two were so intertwined that they are always cited together.
this song was originally written by the most creative italian musical genius: Lucio Battisti. it's an honour for an italian songwriter to reach the succes in the country that create rock music.

Thanks Andy for some lovely memories, You Tube delivers only what it can deliver, another time were just for moments we nearly touch what we thought would last forever but was all to fleeting.
Its cool to see this video, as it was only yesterday that a guy I frequently see/meet was in this band. He's Allan Jones, and owns The Globe Theater in Cardiff, and we see him whenever we go. But I can't believe he once was a famous musician
Not many people know that this song was originally written by the Italians Mogol and Battisti. Initially the song had no success in Italy. Then the Italian pop singer Patty Pravo heard this English version and, not even knowing about the Italian origin of the song, decided to record an Italian version of it that became a huge hit. Just search Patty Pravo Paradiso in youtube.
as a young man i mixed this original record in Olympic Studios with Shel Talmy ! And went on to work on Natural Sinner and several other tracks with Andy >> Amen Corner broke up ... Dennis Byron and Blue Weaver got to work subsequently, phenomally successfully, with the BGees ! happy days Alan O'Duffy
@annysvan ..Hi Andy is still touring uk...he doesnt seem to sing any of the old ones..pity..But he plays with ppl like Roger Waters..and Eric Clapton..mainly guitar and also sings in front of his own band.
Of course he doesnt look as he used to...but who does !! :) John
Well I hope he is alive and well? I was a bugler/drummer in the Band of H.M Royal Marines at the time. Just wish I had longer to chat to him and had a Photo taken with him. One of the greatest bands of all time, and defo my era. Regards Glenn

Memories flood back - personal ones and also the reminder that Andy Fairweather-Low's voice is unique and touches the heart & soul of the lucky listener. Great post thanks !
I remember the late Alan "Fluff" Freeman commenting on his retro "Pick of the Pops" show that this still sounded fresh over thirty years later. To complete the quote "but then, I'm funny that way pop pickers"

The first and original song in italian was sung by Ambra Borelli.
See youtube " La Ragazza 77 (Ambra Borelli) - Il paradiso della vita ".
The song was composed by Lucio Battisti and Mogol in 1969.
The Amen Corner made a "cover" at the opposite, infact in those years in Italy, italian singers sung many hits from uk&Usa in italian.
The Amen Corner made a similar operation with an italian song...
