  • In American accent, "biscuits" is pronounced "Cookies"

  • um the only thing is that we dont all talk with a souther accent

  • you're pretty good but you emphasized too much on some like dollar. (I'm American by the way) for Potter, it's not like patter... yeah.

  • Im Canadian and sorry but we do say words differently from americans

  • You kind of over do it, but American's also over-do English accents as well, haha.

  • Latin American people (not only spanish speaking) just understand each other no matter what the accent is, that's weird.

  • your boyfriend just passed u by without saying anything? poor girl!

  • there is a biggg difference in canadian and american accents. EX some canadians say progress as pro-gress while other (in the more american fashion) say prawgress

    :)

  • apparentley to everyone else, americans are dumb and sound ditzy:/ whenever they try to perfect the "american accent" its always a valley girl accent haha

  • americans and canadiens sound the same

  • As a Canadian, the accents you were doing here sounded much more American than they did Canadian.. you did a pretty good job though

  • Your American accent was passable. I'm from Vancouver, BC Canada. The accent here is the same as it is in Washington state. The biggest difference between the Canadian and U.S. accents is that in America there is much more variation with accents. People living in Alabama speak with a much different accent then people living in Ohio. If a Canadian person was touring England, i am pretty sure the English would think he or she is American. That's my take on it

  • im canadian and we dont say potter like we say the

"po" like you but the "ter" like americas. does that make sense?

  • I didn't know we have an accent....wow. Haha I'm Canadian so its a bit different, but, still, good job!

  • @cpmvsk8erdude why like canadians and not like americans?

  • Fabulous Ameri-accent! I love it!

  • Basicly, we talk usually with "d"s for "t"s .. so like todally. thats basicly it...

  • Yeah, Canadians are generally a lot more "British" in our pronunciations. Our "O"s are "O"s, our "T"s are (more or less) "T"s.

  • you have a accent to me, im canadian from the maritimes

  • Pretty good but for Potter and Total its not "patter" and "tatal" It is more like Toe-tal and like your saying the letter O Pot-er like a long o sound

  • LOL sounded like "Patter".. I'm Canadian and we say "Potter" the "o" is much more accentuated when you're Canadian! "Badderies", "Wanna go".. doctor, with the "o".

Uggh, "Dollar" was SO American! The "o", in Canada is very accentuated, (doll-er) whereas many states such as Michigan use an "A" instead of an "o".... which drives me nuts (dallar). And Canadian's say "todal", I guess... we're a bit lazy pronouncing our "t"s.

I like your non North American accent better though :)

  • @Barelybe true say my friend :) we do say the "oh" it's very distinct. i dont know why people say that we say "ah" instead. canadian = doll-er. not canadian = dall-er :/

  • Americans have different accents depending on the region, as with nearly any country. A Canadian accent is also different than an American accent (well it IS a different country) but I like that you have fun and play around with the accents. I love a British accent, even a cockney one! :-)

  • You are pretty good at the American accent!

  • wow shes doing a good job lol

  • A Canadian would NEVER say 'patter' or 'daller' – that is totally American (and only in some parts). Everything else was spot on. Lol. x

  • @petie71 haha of course not, but they would say aboot for about! haha j/k I agree with you, I think the the patter and daller thing is more midwest.

  • LOL @ DALLER

  • Canadian/American? Cool let me make a video doing the English/Scottish accent. Because they're basically the same thing right?

Can you even do other accents from your own country? You're generalizing England and the United States. Typical English person.

  • @ineedtherapyquick well, dude, I live in Canada and I've been to the states plenty of times and they sound just like me.

  • @546046 In certain parts, yes, but 80% of Americans do not sound like us.

  • @546046 ok go down to texas or anywhere in the south and than go to quebec or the maritimes and tell me they sound just like you!

  • @ineedtherapyquick You're right!

  • Very impressive!

  • in the US we have a lot of accents

  • This isn't a good guide. If you REALLY want to learn about ALL the accents linguists have categorized within North America and hear them said CORRECTLY in an audio file, google

    "IDEA dialects"

  • we don't pronounce our 'A's so much.

  • IM CANADIAN

  • WHOA, when you said "docter" you sounded so North American it freaked me out... Same with when you said "Can I get the total for your bill please?" That was so freaky, man!!! To hear you go from such a total British accent to complete Southern California accent was crazy. You need to move to North America or be an actress or something... Good job, I couldn't do a believable British accent if my life depended on it!!!!

  • canadian and american accents are soo different. the titles wrong =P

  • @HereIsCassie I'd agree in most cases accept that I live in Southern Ontario near the NY border and we sound a lot like our American friends living in Buffalo, NY and Niagara region of western new york.. If you compare someone from Texas or NYC to someone from northern Manitoba... Yea, massive difference.... Closer to the border, it''s a lot more similar.

  • @DontTreadOnMe888

I agree. I live just off Toronto and honestly, you could mistake us for someone around Buffalo.

  • woaaaaaaah........

You gotta slow it down a lot more........

And if ur talking like people around michigan or ohio or anywhere close to Toronto you have to kinda talk through the side of your mouth : (

and sometimes point behind you with your thumb...

I also noticed how the brits show their teeth more when they laugh... sorry but... You Brits DO* remind us of Wallace in "Wallace and Grommit" :P

    Haha! /watch?v=rJXedRX-0Ro

  • Why would you want an American accent? An English person reading the phone book sounds better than an American reading the Gettysburg Address.

  • There are 4 known accents in North America that I have heard.

    1. The popular one that we all know.

    2. The american south dixie accent, or the texas accent, or whatever it is called.

    3. The Canadian accent that only first generation canadians have.

    4. The francophones from quebec who speak english.

Even french. I heard in school that the francais french, and the quebecois french sound different.

Oh yeah, the cheecahgoh [sahsage fahktory] accent as well.

And then there's the boston one.

  • @signofzeta No, there are MANY more N. American accents than just those you listed. Linguists have categorized <30 dialects in a single state in the US... 4 example you said "american south, dixie accent or texas accent whatever" : Within the alone south there are MANY different accents. You should study up:

    Google "IDEA dialects"

Aside from that Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Mexico have scores of accents within their borders.

  • @eg463665 This reminds me of a situation where a guy says something, and people understand it, and some nerd comes in and goes "Actually blah blah blah", and everybody tells the nerd to shut up for spewing useless info.

Not to sound like a dick, but If you read my comment, I said the accents that I, as in me, and me alone, have heard from my very own experience.

If others read my comment, they would understand that my comment states that there is just more than a Canadian and American accent.

  • @signofzeta To continue what I said before, I don't read up on useless information. As long as people get it, then it does not really matter the exact number of dialects there are in North America, as long as there are more than two. If someone, who isn't majoring in language and culture, studies up on that stuff, I call that a waste of time. And besides, the most of us don't give a crap how many dialects are in North America.

So in essence, stop being a nerd about it.

  • @eg463665 I dunno, maybe I want to watch a video on someone doing an imitation of a Canadian Accent, and I decided to list off Accents in North America that sound cool and are popular to the public because of exposure to television or games, as opposed to reading up on at least 24 different accents, which are totally not popular to the general public anyway?

And your response to my comment and to that of the video poster makes us both look stupid.

  • Most of them sounded like a New Yorker, but definitely not Canadian.

  • Canadians pronounce O more, Americans pronounce A more

  • please watch DELIVERANCE you will become a natural ,you may become reasonably good with a certain musical instument also .

  • pretty good accent ... you did it with no effort

  • @NewsyJackal thank you, sugar x

  • @Sezzera just a heads up... canadian accents are different from american. But I must say... great job on nailing an american accent!

  • Not much of that is really Canadian, so I'm not quite sure why you labeled the video as such lol...

  • wtf is thhis??

  • your adorable=]

  • Great job! you got it. I'm from Upstate NY, about an hour from The Canadian border. When I first moved to Colorado, people asked if I was from Canada because I say moontan, oot, and hoose. Pretty funny, I didn't know I have a little Canadian accent but,I'm proud of it.

  • American and Canadian are two different things. Not a shred of Canadian in this, but nice American-type one.

  • Your American accent is so funny! It's not very good but it's fun to listen to.

  • NICE VIDEO! If you'd like any NY accent tips let me know.. I am from long island or should I say lawn guyland... =D Love your accent too!

  • @JessicusMaxiumus thank you Jessie. Send a message via YouTube and I'll create a video for you.. =D

  • your natural accent is british or aussie?

  • @retroguy02 My accent is how us "London folk" speak, not the Queen's English. I am not a great fan of the Aussie accent.. Much prefer the American accent.. :)

  • wow sounds nothing like canadian, plus it sounds still a lil bit english, you have a lilt, at timed you sound like a surfer dude...lol keep up the good work, i know i dont sound like that

  • I love your accent, you know, your normal everyday voice. You did a great job with the American accents!! =)

  • @Lock11811 thank you x

  • most of our (american) t's are pronounced more as d's i personally like the way the english accent sounds better.

  • yeah, these are completely American accents. These open treatment of vowels are not Canadian at all.

    Cheers

  • XD Not bad.

  • you talk as if the midwestern accent isnt sexy lol

  • Wow that was awesome :)

  • Wow i realized we do have a weird accent, i am american so ok

  • omg you do sound american!

  • the name of this video should be changed, your good at the american accent but canadian accents are alot different.

  • not to them

    depends where you are from

  • keep your English accent it's very elegant and sweet sounding! I'm Canadian ... you did the general American/Canadian accent very well ! you guys make words sound much more beautiful. but I love your English accents haha

  • Um, the Canadian accent and the American accent are completely different. That's like saying that the Australian accent is the same as the New Zealand one.....

  • @OnMyOwn1988 i wouldn't say they're COMPLETELY different. they're pretty similar. Btw, i wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an australian and a kiwi accent.

  • your pretty good

  • i kinda like it hearing the english accent (not on me though). Oh well, probably because i simply CAN'T do it!!!!

I can't even say "so" like english ppl do, darn!

  • @brandaogu what are you then? american, canadian? hahah im english :D

  • hahah, no.. i'm not american, neither canadian, I'm brazilian

seriously, i simply can't say any word faking an english accent.. it's sooo hard for me! hehehe

  • I'm from northern ontario and i noticed that canadians say "pop" instead of "soda"

  • really?? pop? hehehe never heard that bf!

  • lol yeah, to us "soda" sounds retarded, like you're either dense or from the 50's.

  • Virtually impossible for me to tell the difference between a Americunt talking and a Canuck. hell even Sara palin sounds like she is from either minnesota or Canada.

  • @1949FUCKUSA Americunt? Lol. wow. Spelled wrong American. Its eaither your spelling is wrong, or you like to make fun of americans. wow sooo imiture. :)

  • Yes I am insulting Americans.

  • @1949FUCKUSA Like I said. Immuture :D. what ever Im not american. but at least i have some respect on other countrys. Unlike you. who obviously has no life. then to make fun of americans. :)

  • I am just enjoy mocking idiotic Americans but I also will insult other Westerners if they insult China. So Canucks, Aussies, New Zealanders and Eurocunts I wont spare you.

  • @1949FUCKUSA like i said again. ( NO LIFE) :DD

  • It's too whiny, but nice try.

  • i like your beck shirt! woooo go beck

  • Ahhhhh Jeff that is ironic because im american and i met a guy from canada and his name is jeff :P lol thats just cool haha yah um what's next Nic lol

  • I don't even realize how different we Americans must sound to you folks until I hear the two pronunciations side by side lol

You ought to listen to some older people from the Appalachian Mountains in the US near where I live... they can be nearly incomprehensible even to most Americans :) lol

  • Aha...that's true...

  • There's TONS of american accents. You're imitating one from Long Island. You're very good, actually!!

  • British people just seem more sophisticated

  • No such thing as an American accent. We have no set accent. There are more than three accents for us here in New York state alone. We sound nothing like texans,or people from Boston,or Maine,or Georgia! It can even vary from town to town.Or from family to family.Or race to race. DUMMIES!!

  • from boston to ny it changes that much? any examles ?

gosh.. it's the same metropolitan area... "bosnywash" (lol)

that really surprised me.. though you can tell the difference in accent from where i live to 200 km from here.. but it's a complete different thing (countryside accent of my state)

  • Yes,people in boston say a lot of words(including boston)very differently. We pronounce it like BAW-STIN.And they pronounce it how it is spelled,bah-stin.And western N.Y. is more like canadian sounding. And the N.Y. city area is much different, like in the movies or t.v. shows, that New Yorker accent.

  • And all of those different accents in each state are all American accents. Dummy.

  • what are you talking about, america has more accents within the country than anywhere else in the world. im canaidan, and when i go to america, everyone has an accent...

  • I'm not seeing what you're getting at.

  • @FATMIKED5183 and there is no such thing as a british accent either idiot it varies dependin where u go

  • YOU sir are the idiot, seeing as how I never said there was a british accent.

if ANYONE else want's to challenge me,please come prepared next time!!

  • im not challenging you im just saying just as there is no american accent there isnt a set british accent

  • YOU were just calling me an idiot.Seeing as how I'm not from britain,I didn't care as much about that.

  • wow that was funny. ahahaha I hope you have a good day :)

  • haha, its funny because i live in canada, but my boss is american, and she always pronounces her "o's " as "a's" XD

like she did here, patter, instead of potter XD

  • Also they dont say "shot" they say "Shat"

like did you get the H1N1 shOt?

  • I'm from Nova Scotia and I say "of" like "a" but that might just be me... and dollar is said in american/canadian like dawller

  • That was good!

  • I liked ur video actually I like the way u talk and this video was awesome because I could see the different between the american and england accent because I'm not a native speaker of english I speak english because I my mother speaks english, but I got it as a second language, I like ur accent I think it is pretty nice yep don't change it well take care see ya

  • That was really good ! Does anybody know if its generally easier for an American to do an English accent or vice versa - because im starting to believe that its easier for english people to do our accents ...

  • americans dont do teh english accent properly. english have an easier time

  • its gonna ;)

  • what's so funny?

  • That was cute!!!! You are lovely!

  • You say words like potter & dollar wrong D:.. and some more.

  • agreed!

  • But seriously, the american accent/canadian talk much higher, compasre how you said the words. When you tried to do it american you spoke higher. Go watch some canadian videos on youtube or something maybe some american ones. Pretty hard huh? Gotta like stress it out and everything. Same when you talk american you wanna sound english or '"euro".

  • lol it's weird hereing u switch lol

  • you got the yank accent right, but canadians don't really speak like that, a typical canadian accent sounds like a light scottish accent without the rolling of the "R" the folks out in newfoundland speak an awful lot like the irish

  • yeah... agreed.

when i was watching this i was thinking - she sounds really american... but not canadian.

  • Not really, most canadians sound like a standard american accent, like reporters on tv but more casual, take cities like niagra falls and ottawa, we all sound like a cali accent or maybe some from like new york and stuff, really, who says eh and aboot yo? I speak like new yorker and standard american evern though i was born and rasied in ottawa.I Know british words like trainers and crisps. I got the best of both. So just watch like kids talking on some candian videos on youtube.

  • well, thats ontario though, although I do say eh and aboot, but it's really like a-boat O not a U sound. torontonians really sound like new yorkers, us montrealers have a very perticular accent, personally I'd say it's a tad like muted british accent, but you CANT deny that newfies have a perfect southern irish accent, and nova scotians sound like scottish people faking a canadian accent

jut don't get me tarted on the french. O.O

  • Haha i heard my share of quebecois, i AM from ottawa lol

yeah but ontario speaks american, alberta and sask. speak like canadian saying things like 'Sore-Eee' (Sorry)

and runners, like newfie and stuff ( well at least the adults, never heard kids) talk like eh and aw. Depends on what part of canada though. Oh and plus 9/10 if someone really speaks canadian they are an adult. most kids speak standard american with canadian tendencies.

  • I'm from Canada, and we sound almost exactly like the Americans.

  • you're probably from toronto. if you we're from the rest of eastern ontario, that would be a different story, especially the maritimes, although montrealers have a list of accents (brooklyn, american, maritime, italian, french) and thats only while speaking english. americans and torontonians pronounce the "ou" like in OUCH, so out in about sounds to you like oat and a boat.

  • Even here in Toronto we have a mountain of varied accents from prairies to maritimes. My old boss used to call a dollar a DALLAH - verging on Bronx - despite living here for most of his life and not pronouncing any other words like that. Accents around Canada are as wonderfully varied as England or the USA. Except I don't think we have class distinctions by accent as prevalent as England. Unless you speak hoser.

  • perfiction

  • EVERYBODY has an accent. There is no such thing as non-accented language. Standard languages are an artificial accent or the accent of the dominant cultural group in a nation or language area. So, Americans, and Brits, Canucks, and Aussies ALL speak with an accent. Your "American" accent is very Yank or Northern. There are much better ones. Many Americans think that Midwesterners have no accent. Of course, that's ridiculous! Good video. ;)

  • True. I always thought of Midwestern U.S. as a peculiar accent. It's similar to Southern Ontario but they generally speak much louder and with wider mouths. There are a few differences but the ones that always stand out are pronouncing 'a' as 'eeah' and pronouncing 'o' as 'ah.'

  • for an american accent...... um.... it would actually depend on where in the country you are from....

  • I dont think canadian and american accents are THAT different, much more related than english or aussie accents

  • Sezzera you seem really nice! Good job with the accent.

  • AHAHHAH,

  • for some crazy reason.....dis is SO cute to me lol :-X

  • canadian and american accent is much different

  • OK :P

  • too rights there bruv

  • There is more than one American accent, someone from Wisconsin sounds a lot different from a New Yorker or say a Texan, And I couldn't tell you what they Speak in Newfoundland but they tell me it"s English, so the Canadian accent is quite diverse as well

  • Yeah.

  • you sound very american.

    good job.

i'm a canuk and for most of those words i could tell a difference as to how i say them.

not all - but most :P

    *claps*

  • WOW, you're good! My fiance is English, and he does a perfect imitation of the way I talk (I'm an Orange County, SoCal girl, and "like" is way of life here, LOL). Btw, you are too cute for words, great vid.

  • Whoa, really cool and interesting vid ya got here. ;) I'm a "mid southerner" from subburban west Tennessee. I have sort of a late/great Bill Hicks thing goin' on, and so I don't know about my accent. Guess sometimes I'm a self-loathing American on that level.

I really dig all the English accents. b-movie queen and former Bond girls Caroline Munro and an adult film actress named Roxanne Hall especially.

Just somethin' about the English accents I dig. Canadian as well. So five stars here.

  • Love it!

Americans tend to say, "dot cahm" (i.e. .com) whereas Canadians say "dot calm".

  • It's pretty close, but your accent is more American than Canadian. XD

You may find it hard to hear the difference, but its there. ;)

Kudos. (I'm a Canuck by the way)

  • i find it easier to understand the brit/english accent compared to american accent

  • yes it's easier for me too, even the kiwi, and the canadian I think is the most clear of all, or the Boston accent, but south of state is anoying.

  • yeah..the "peace" sign :)

  • @stefharder I always do the peace sign, especially whenever I meet friends at the tube station or at concerts... Then we kiss/ hug it out. ;) That's how we roll x

  • lol

  • Dawler? I just say "Dollar" with an emphasis on the "ar". I'm canadian btw, you did a pretty good job though ^_^

  • lol this was quite impressive. Iv asked alot of english people of Canadians have accents and most reply "Well yeah we speak the queens english and you DO NOT". Iv never heard an english person immitate our accent tho. It was very cool nice job.

  • good american accent!

  • your american kind of sounds valley girlish. but its good, just not completely realistic

  • I like ur accent! I'm french-canadian, so I guess I have an accent to everybody else! weird, lol.

  • This made me giggle. I really try to do an english accent. I think you sounded american, but more like the leather jacket and holey trousers kind.lol. I would love if you could help me perfect a british/or moreso london accent. I could probably help you with a few american ones too.lol. We have just as many as the uk. But erm, respond if you'd like to.I've only tested my brit accent on americans so obviously they think its all alike. But exchanging accents sounds quite cool.Hope to hear from you

  • ok.. you should hear Manila Filipinos try and imitate accents... most of us can do a heck of a job at it...

like me.. I can do the Filipino English Accent, American Accent, Australian Accent, Kiwi Accent, and my favorite, British accent..

its cuz our text books are in English and when you cant speak English, people look down on you.. and also if you see our TV programs, its very diverse cuz its filled with alot of other nations channels.... :D

    Peace out

  • Everyone has accents for the rest of the world, dont you get it?

  • .......are you retarded....everyone has an accent.

  • lol. do you know why its called ENGISH.... because of ENGLAND

  • word of advice: Don't try to do the american accent! your accent is awesome! i wish i had one!

    so just own it... okay?

  • Everybody has an accent, they just don't know it.

  • soda has a big R on the end - soderrrr

  • you sound just like me speaking in my THICK american accent

  • Lol its my bfs lamborghini,

    XD

    ahaha,

    nice (:

  • i love the way you say dollar!

  • lol it makes me cringe. no offense to "sezzera" of course
