C79 was her room number. When he left the pop scene and ditched his name, I thought back on the lyrics 'I was a pop star then'... he's telling his son the story about how he met his mother and he's no longer a pop star... foretelling.
This song is gorgeous on so many levels! It's a great beat that keeps shifting and taking you on a ride...the lyrics blow my mind ever time, too. Yes, especially the color of your eyes line and also "I'm still having a good time". :)
Sometimes Stevens is cryptic, , and since it concerns a topic that Muslims consider sinful, I doubt we may find out.. My idea was wrong, because Seat is not spelled with a C so, who knows? Or, maybe it was some number in rows of concert arena seats, like A5, or B 23, or C 79. That's how our arenas where I saw him play were arranged.

I thought it meant Seat 79 all these years. Makes sense, "I'm on the road again, she's in Seat 79... We met in the back room, behind the stage.."
