How strong is gallium? I could make a decent lockpick set with that if it's strong enough. Not to break into other peoples' things but my own if I forget my keys or something. Is it as weak as alluminum or as strong as steel?
@AstatineMime It would be kinda the same as ''ice bullet''. But I think the gallium could handle it, since it's like .001 secs when the bullet is in the air.
@AstatineMime Yeah Myth Busters busted the myth, just like I thought. But considering that, water has 0*C smelting point, and gallium has 30*C, it would be highly possible to make a bullet from gallium. And it would smelt inside the body since all humans have a body temperature above 30*C.
it would be funny as hell if his friend was inside and had one of those bbq heaters like in home alone 1 and wen he put the key in it melted and his door just gets fucked.
@medicfrazier So you won't kill them unless you are fast enough to puncture a vital organ. Gallium isn't incredibly poisonous, but in a vital organ it would probably kill the victim very slowly.
@simon2381 You're thinking of it too simply. If you make a very thin blade, it'll be sharper, but more fragile and easily malleable, however, if the blade is the thickness of an ordinary butcher's knife, it wouldn't be very sharp unless you're a master mould maker with no gaps of air in the mould or unless you sharpen it, but that would melt the gallium. Poisoning a victim would be much more likely than gashing them open, unless you're skilled in boxing, street fighting or any other martial art
@xxDooMKaiseRDragoNxx He made a key with it and it was solid enough to open a lock. Keys aren't very thick. And i'm not talking about making the knife sharp to slash, i'm talking about the point, to stab someone. You could also make a really thick stake with a pointy end and it would do the job.
@simon2381 Yes, I got your point, I'm saying that a SHARP object would be difficult to replicate because the mould would need to be perfect or you would have to file it, which might melt the gallium.
I don’t think that stuff made with it is very reliable. Because as soon as it gets close to those 303 Kelvin (~30°C), it will become very soft. Imagine the key will just melt away when you put it in a lock that’s heated from the sunlight. Have fun buying a new lock! ^^
But if you live in the arctic circle, this is probably very useful… depending on how brittle the stuff is.
