@wwedeadman85 I seriously doubt that. And I'm pretty sure you're lying. If not, then fight my Viper in UMVC3. P.S You think you got the best Viper out there? See Marlinpie's Viper.
@IlIl00 Matter which one you want, if you want the instant burn kick on the ground. You have to do a (Keypad) 412357+HK motion. If you do it right, she will jump forward and do a Burn kick. It's a pretty sweet crossup.
viper is so hard to master her combos i can do the combo trial 24 when the other player is on the right side of the map but when he is in the left side i always get a super or an ex tk :S
@lengcalvinthao kool, i play ssf4 alot but i dont really play mvc3 that much, i dont know why, i was well hyped up for this game be4 it come out, but i dont really play it lool
@lengcalvinthao man i know your comment was posted 1 year ago, have you mastered the seismic hammer into super jump yet, ive just started using viper and i find this so hard hahahahahaha
i can never do the seismic hammer into the high flame kick, no matter how hard i try i cant do it, ive must of done it twice out of 60 times but i dont know how i do it, any times, im pressing up forward right be4 she lands it and slightly after and nothing
my biggest problem after using viper for about a month is i have no idea which situation i should use her normals in. my viper doesn't have a very solid defence :(
@sprinter223 up close i usually use 2 standing low kicks then crouching medium punch follow up with a med thunder knuckle. The only prob i have is fff, if i can master fff i can take out an enemy quick... any other easy way to do fff?
@sprinter223 yeah it isn't actually that hard. you can negative edge the fierce punch to get the tk. i cancel it with strong and fierce and you use the dp shortcut to get ex sizmo. also i find it easier to start with standing hp when you punish whiffed moves. just personal preference though
I been playing this game for years. I have always liked c viper but just thought she was way 2 tough..Anyways today was my first day using her and i really liked her move set, thought she was amazing. I honestly think this vid will help.
I've just picked up SF4 and I love Viper's moveset, but as you can imagine i've completely fallen into the trap of picking a high skill character and I get demolished all time. While i'm pretty familiar with the move set I can't chain techniques very well at all, and probably the biggest issue is I use Seismic hammer accidentally more than any other time and the delay just means i'm unguarded when I don't want to be. It's also a problem trying to pull off the ultra in a tight spot. Any tips?
@Arksimon2k You are using seismic hammer accidentally because of execution error or bad decision making? Obviously the only solution to execution error is practice. As for the ultra, are you speaking in-combo? Viper's ultra has nearly no invincibility so it should almost never be used at random.
@Ubahman Execution error. I've been practising getting my ultra off properly rather than doing a combo and EX Seismic hammering, but its a pretty common problem for me when i'm trying to queue it up fast. Naturally i've noticed how hard it is to get her ultra off without some kind of hit confirm.
@Arksimon2k Well you could always use the "wiggle" motion to help you execution seismos more quickly. The game's short-cuts allow you to merely have the stick in a Down position and then you "wiggle" it by dragging it to the down-forward position and then bring it back to the down position. This is helpful to keep your character in the crouching position as well. Be warned, not returning the neutral can cause you to accidentally use super if you have it charged.
@lvk96 "Jet Boots"? If you are referring to her Super Jump, you can't activate that mid-air. Her trajectory is altered by spacing and when/what burn kick is used. At 4:17, he is landing an air normal (light kick and roundhouse) and then cancelling the normal into a burn kick. Depending on the strength and timing, it will cross the opponent up.
@Ubahman Oh that makes sense now. Gah, I'm doing this stuff on the Iphone, its pretty hard, but its fun. I can't change what burn kick is used though so does the roundhouse burn kick cross up?
@lvk96 Yes. Roundhouse bk is usually all you need. If you land the normal at the right time, it will cross the opponent up and possibly combo if they don't block. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to play her on an iphone...
Nice tutorial! Thank you! My Favorite is Chun li! And C. Viper is my four carachter best! Cammy is the two, Juri is the Tree and Rose is the five. :] ! Equip Female Fatalie. Man's is Ryu, Ken, Vega, Dhalsim, Akuma and T. Hawk. Playing Blank is very hard, I have... :P Me it's Noob... hahha xD. I Advanced fighter all carachter! :D
@truecid Yes its possible 2 do hp t knuckle 'naked'. Its harder (especially on a stick) but possible.
A variant of Instant b kick out of super jump is possible but needs the right spacing and strict timing (easy setup= st med punch->cr med punch->hjc->b kick). The hj b kick will fly so low it will hit the opponent from behind. The timing i pretty strict though, but well worth the effort.
hey can u please tell me how to super jump into ultra i just cant pull it off. like i always do super jump then really fast ill try and do the ultra but i just cant do it.
@tigerclaw2 i didn't want to keep playing with it to find out so i paid £47 for a hori ex 2 arcade stick just to play with viper properly, great vid too btw thx lots of stuff was pondering on my mind like the seismic hammer spamming when they block :D
A reset is doing a move after a small combo or something that makes them just get hit into a stand instead of falling down to kinda fake them out? Im still learning some terms and shit need some help, anyone?
@BlinkerArrow yes, you do a combo, and at a certain point in certain combos you can just do a little jab or something to reset the combo, it allows them to block and stuff but the damage is reset so if your reset plays a good mind game and u switch up the next combo, u get another full damage combo for free basically :) justin wong uses them all the time with rufus.
lol this video is insane. whats the best way to start learning viper. i'd like to use her online but this stuff seems rediculously hard to pull off. thanks alot for the video
At 0:40 it says: "For instance, tapping down followed by up-forward or back-forward". Is back-forward a typo? 'Cause it's not possible to press both at the same time.
Capcom really oughta make more characters user friendly cuz its a bit ridiculous how people like ryu (one of my mains) requires me to do so much less work to acheive the results of viper, gen, and like the whole rest of the non shoto cast xD...its a turn off when the difficulty is so skewed xD, especially when i dont have a stick
@Drizzydid For me, succeeding with unorthodox characters was really more of an "unlearning" experience. I'd been groomed on years of SFII, where the characters were pretty much Shotos or Chargers only. After all that experience, I can easily grasp how to use Ryu, Ken, etc. to maximum effect. But if you take those same experiences and try to apply them to, say Ibuki, you get crushed. You gotta think way outside the box in order to succeed with C. Viper and the like.
Then get a stick, 1 person's lack of resources shouldn't inconvenience the end-results of such a big game. I love characters who are complex, they end up being flashy and people shit bricks when you pull off a combo/special.
@Zinriusminazen i dont see the reason to buy a stick cuz like i said i can get equal results more easily with less "grrr i want to break my controller" moments using a basic guy like ryu on a pad...im not really big on buying add on accessories to play games...i bought my console to play the games on the controller it came with, im not gonna put an extra 100 plus dollars just to play one game :( its become less of an issue for me now though, im fine using ryu and akuma...i guess xD
viper would be my ultimate character to main. i love her but i don't have the matchup knowledge or the execution to win with her. well done to anyone that can
I can't seem to make her do the auto dash. I get the meterless focus attack, but no auto dash. I haven't even been able to fluke it once lol. Also I'm having trouble making her move forward with the burn kicks. I can do it backwards no problem. The only way I can make her go forward is doing it the standard way, qcb Kick button.
WHOA that was amazing, this makes me really wanna play c.viper. But i'd probably break all my fingers and possibly my left hand. But damn u are fcking amazing at this.
@kitsune235235 I like to mix up the two; but for the knuckle it matters. The jab thunder knuckle feint, although being the easiest to execute, is the slowest frame wise. I recommend using the mp thunder knuckle feint both naked and during block strings until you're able to do the hp one consistently as there is a huge risk if you mess it up.
dude would you mind tell me what music is it from around 6:50, sound kinda like the vex game from ps2. Nice Viper you got there, I always respect good viper players, she's one hard lady to use.
Is this managable in Pad? Theres this C viper player called Wolfkrone who plays Viper on Pad, Hes not as good as Flash or Uryo but hes just slightly below their level. ON THE PAD. So is it possible?
You need to show inputs or like hand inputs or something, because reading and looking at the character move, is extremely difficult lol. We need to know the timing of when to do stuff.
@TheXenogias Wrong that is not how you do the multiple seismic hammers. Learn the game before you start posting false information. You do not input down then up and then try to seismic hammer.
To all of you that want to do you can press Down-Forward, Down-Forward, followed by either Up-Back, Up, or Up-Forward. Or you can do it the way in the video which is smooth tiger knee, you have to tap forward then do a fireball motion to Up-forward. Both work its a matter of preference.
I think I finally got the seismic hammer chain thingy down. Now I need to practice canceling the Fierce Thunder Knuckle while in combos, it's really tricky.
for the seismic hammer chain he says forward followed by a smooth tiger knee motion, that "tiger knee" motion is the same as an srk motion right? or am i missing something? thx alot for the tutorial!
I'm giving up viper. This tutorial has made me realize I just can't do most of her advanced tricks. I'd rather use an "easier" character before using her.
Wow dude... I'm not a C.Viper player... I've always thought she was so cumbersome to use. Just watched this tutorial... I think now I AM a C.Viper player...
Finalfuckingly, someone explained a way to beat her hard trial number 3... which up until now I figured was impossible.
Sorry, I'm new to this stuff but what is the difference between instant burning kick and a normal one? When i do the qcb+ kick button I don't super jump? So what exactly does the instant version do?
@azn80149 The instant version allows you to do a burning kick "instantly" after she jumps. So what you're doing is an aerial burning kick as close to the ground as possible. Since you can direct it, it allows you to do cross-up shenanigans against the other player while they're on wake-up. Cammy has a similar technique, which is the instant cannon strike.
Thanks a ton for this video! I'm a viper and Cammy main, though I use pad.. It's really hard to meterless FADC on it :\ I've always been using the manual version with the down up mp+mk lols. I will try your "Tiger knee motion". Is that referring to the general DP movement which is forward, forward, down, down+diagonal towards.towards? Please get back to me on this. I always have it handed to me by Australia's Top Player. :'( Thanks Again! :D
@19arnoldsamau93 It's described pretty clearly in the video. Tiger Knee is a motion from down to up forward. Just do the same thing you would do to chain a seismic hammer, but instead of punch hit mp+mk and she should auto dash.
its from option select website, yet you dont see an option select section in this vid, i was hoping if it would show some option select options.. I already know all of her other stuff :P, i got a grasp of mix up cross up HK, that sometimes whiffs so i usually press grab with that. and another one is when jumping in with a HK, u input the thunder knuckle followed by a burning kick, thus if they back dash, the thunder knuckle hits them, if they dont, BK will cross them.was hoping to see some more.
Viper doesn't really have many option selects. The few she has are very character specific, like jump in o-s throw for Abel, or jump in o-s EX TK for Akuma. The TK against backdash one you mentioned is basically the only good general one, and even that one isn't that great. Thanks for watching though!
I'm glad I found this. It should show alot of people that C Viper is no joke. Great to see other Viper players. Wish I could upload vids and stuff but I can't.
great tutorial, but i'm having trouble doing a instant burning kick that moves forward, i can only do one that stays at the same place or moves backwards... can anyone give me some pointers?
Sweet vid! thanks a lot man! heres one for you guys to try... from (just about) full screen, and opponent near corner... Fierce Seizmic, to meterless FDAC, to Medium Knuckle, to Ultra. (somtimes I burn meter though, and I can't quite figure out why?)
This is what happens when you let the Japanese design an American government operative. They load her up with all sorts of gadgets and technical play. I'll stick to my Zangief, thank you.
This is disgusting. I knew SF4 had to be one of the most technical games out there, but as a Rose main I had no idea high-level Viper play requires this extent of knowledge and execution. I've always enjoyed watching the best of the best do their thing with Viper, and understood there was a lot to it, but seeing this video just makes me appreciate it even more. Not something I'll be trying to pick up any time soon though.
@etherealrhythm SF4 is a pretty simple game, even compared to other Street Fighter titles like Alpha3. Compared to a game like Guilty Gear, it's nothing.
Well, no. SF4 isn't a pretty simple game by any stretch. Like you say, it's not even the most technical Street Fighter game, but that doesn't stop it from being a very technical game all the same; I said "one of the most...", not "the most".
Even just understanding all of the basic mechanics of the game is a lot to take in and think about, compared to "other games" as a broad, spectral term. Not to mention things like matchup-specific information and strategy and making use of frame data.
Compared to other **fighting games** then. Certainly it has depth, I wasn't trying to say it didn't, it just doesn't have the same amount of depth as SFA3, GGAC, or even CvS2, nor does it require execution on that same level.
My main in Guilty Gear (Millia Rage) literally has no combos that aren't character specific (even the most basic of her BnB combos have vastly different timing by character), so believe me when I say SF4 is easy by comparison.
technicality u are right sf4 is not as technical since theres a more casual approache but execution wise u are oh so wrong. SF4 has some of the toughest combos along side the EZ mode combos.
Yeah, that's what I meant. Compare SF4 to your average 1P/3PS - or pretty much any other game outside of a few, select fighting games - and the level of complexity is immense.
I don't enjoy playing a lot of fighting games, so I find SF4 strikes a good balance between difficulty and playability. It's not esoteric or over-engineered, but you can take the gameplay as deep as you want to with a little time and effort.
Wow... fav'd. I still have problems regarding instant bk to the front - I always end up doing stuff like d,d/b,b,u,u/f+K, doing straight jumps.. but I guess I just have to practice.
Characters like Viper is what makes a game challenging, yet flashy while at the same time having a good payoff. People who can apply this to their game and are successful with it deserve their credit. How I wish all characters in SFIV had advanced features that would make the character complex and good instead of simple combos and ultras that take a lot of damage. The game would be so much more interesting. Let's see what SSFIV has to offer.
@DepressionMoon Sorry! I planned on adding a few more match up specific things such as option selects and just various character specifics but I didn't have enough time and I believe another vid is in the works. :)
Damn this is Hard

@lvk96 "Jet Boots"? If you are referring to her Super Jump, you can't activate that mid-air. Her trajectory is altered by spacing and when/what burn kick is used. At 4:17, he is landing an air normal (light kick and roundhouse) and then cancelling the normal into a burn kick. Depending on the strength and timing, it will cross the opponent up.

But damn u are fcking amazing at this.

does it matter which special i use to feint, knuckle or seismo?
also, would lp versions be better than say mp or hp versions?
kitsune235235 1 year ago
@kitsune235235 I like to mix up the two; but for the knuckle it matters. The jab thunder knuckle feint, although being the easiest to execute, is the slowest frame wise. I recommend using the mp thunder knuckle feint both naked and during block strings until you're able to do the hp one consistently as there is a huge risk if you mess it up.

Both work its a matter of preference.
ltildragon 1 year ago
I think I finally got the seismic hammer chain thingy down. Now I need to practice canceling the Fierce Thunder Knuckle while in combos, it's really tricky.
Kibbelz 1 year ago
Like everybody here I"m having trouble canceling out of her seismic hammer into another seismic hammer or thunder knuckle.
Instead of cancelling into another move after the high jump, I just high jump.???
PhoPhucLai02 1 year ago
@PhoPhucLai02
that means you're doing the motion to quickly

when i do meterless cancel she does the focus atk motion
instead of auto dash why!?
Danteezy 1 year ago
for the seismic hammer chain he says forward followed by a smooth tiger knee motion, that "tiger knee" motion is the same as an srk motion right? or am i missing something? thx alot for the tutorial!

I'm giving up viper. This tutorial has made me realize I just can't do most of her advanced tricks. I'd rather use an "easier" character before using her.

the tiger knee motion from down to up forward serves as a cancel then we do another seismic hammer to chain it the 2nd time?

the tiger knee motion from down to up forward is count as an cancel? so we need to do another seismic hammer to chain the 2nd one?

So what exactly does the instant version do?
azn80149 1 year ago
@azn80149 The instant version allows you to do a burning kick "instantly" after she jumps. So what you're doing is an aerial burning kick as close to the ground as possible. Since you can direct it, it allows you to do cross-up shenanigans against the other player while they're on wake-up. Cammy has a similar technique, which is the instant cannon strike.
Contrastique 1 year ago

SedoSan 1 year ago
Viper doesn't really have many option selects. The few she has are very character specific, like jump in o-s throw for Abel, or jump in o-s EX TK for Akuma. The TK against backdash one you mentioned is basically the only good general one, and even that one isn't that great. Thanks for watching though!

Great video, thanks.
etherealrhythm 1 year ago
@etherealrhythm SF4 is a pretty simple game, even compared to other Street Fighter titles like Alpha3. Compared to a game like Guilty Gear, it's nothing.
Narcowski 1 year ago
Not to mention things like matchup-specific information and strategy and making use of frame data.
etherealrhythm 1 year ago
Compared to other **fighting games** then. Certainly it has depth, I wasn't trying to say it didn't, it just doesn't have the same amount of depth as SFA3, GGAC, or even CvS2, nor does it require execution on that same level.
My main in Guilty Gear (Millia Rage) literally has no combos that aren't character specific (even the most basic of her BnB combos have vastly different timing by character), so believe me when I say SF4 is easy by comparison.
Narcowski 1 year ago
technicality u are right sf4 is not as technical since theres a more casual approache but execution wise u are oh so wrong. SF4 has some of the toughest combos along side the EZ mode combos.
mikolyyyy 1 year ago 3
Lol if you think links and sjc's are hard...
Play cvs2 please. Links are close to impossible to do consistently.
TheGosu 1 year ago
Yeah, that's what I meant. Compare SF4 to your average 1P/3PS - or pretty much any other game outside of a few, select fighting games - and the level of complexity is immense.
I don't enjoy playing a lot of fighting games, so I find SF4 strikes a good balance between difficulty and playability. It's not esoteric or over-engineered, but you can take the gameplay as deep as you want to with a little time and effort.
