The song is called (in English) 'The Bandura I would take' meaning more precisely,A Bundura player I would become for your love and (this is a bit poetic) give my eyes to do so.Most Banduresta's or Kobzari were blind minstrels. There are plenty of references on google sites and history sites. Some people have added to the youtube clips also.Hope this helps.
@Aussieuke Thank you very much. I met Mr Mota Wolodymyr this past weekend in Montreal at the 2011 Ukrainian Festival. He is in great shape at the venerable age of 85. He thanked me for posting this video in 2009. He gave me a copy of his latest CD which feature 15 songs with the bandura. You can contact him through his email address which I gave at the end of the description above. I just posted 3 videos of his performance at the Montreal 2011 Ukrainian Festival.
I took the bandura and I knew at once: Because of this bandura I had to become a bandura player######## And because of these dark-brown eyes, when i saw them for the first time: For these dark-brown eyes I would give my soul. ############# Marusya, my heart, please be so kind: Take my heart and give me yours. ########### This a close transliterated version of the words. This is a great recording of a master player.
Vzyav bý ya banduru tai zagrav, sho znav: Tsheres tu banduru bandurýstom stav. A fsye tsheres otshi, kolý b ya ikh mav: Za ti kari otshi dushu b ya viddav. Marusýno, sertse, pozhali mene: Vizmi moye sertse, dai meni svoye. This a close transliterated version of the words
It's "Vziav by ya banduru" = "Would I take bandura in my hands". Bandura is this ukr. muz. instrument, that Mr. W. Mota so greatly plays and wonderfully sings!
LOVE this song. Makes me cry every time.
Pan Mota is wonderful musician and human being.
