And, I agree the Russians are returning to form. This invasion of Georgia is a power play by Russia in direct response to what they perceive as US/NATO meddling in Kosovo.

After Viet Nam the draft became political death. Unfortunatly our young men do not read the small print when they sign and Are contractually obligated and unfortunately get stuck many times in the "stop-loss" program. A program I do not support but do not know what the military can do without the draft. In Nam "Combat at Arms" did their 13 months and that was pretty much it unless they were lifers.

Despite my volunteer service during that war, I swore that I would assist my sons to dodge the draft if we ever had a war like Viet Nam again. This war is not the same and personally, if I was young enough I would have gone. I do not think that we are in dire enough straits for a draft at this time.
