  • This isnt the Prophet's Song...it was part of White Man

  • Reminds me of Natural Born Killers during the prison riot.

  • Prelude of the songs Tiny Tim will be performing...............Moments from now.

  • Uhhhhhh this isn't Prophet's Song...

  • Are you sure this is The Prophet's Song?

  • @MonsterJam2010 If it is, this is one hell of a variation! Sounds more like, "Aliens Have Landed on the Prophet." Still, I wish I could have been there!

  • @MonsterJam2010 Yes!

  • Excelente muestra del misticismo musical de Queen!

  • completely speechless. one of the greatest feats in vocal performance history in those first 2 minutes. 1:50+ are sounds that I have never even heard of since the 30+ years it’s been since this was recorded. and it was done in the very city I’m living in right now. I have a peculiar sense of pride, knowing that this was accomplished in the city I live in.

  • I'm SO tripping on this shit.

  • @FunkyKrakje

    you are the shit !!!!!

  • The effect is being produced by the Eventide Harmoniser, a guitar/vocal processor. It's the same effect used on 'Get Down Make Love'

  • This is insane. The best kind of insane.

  • I was at this show and still remember it so well...thanks for posting this!!!

  • I think I'm on drugs

  • This is so freaky and weird, but in a good way! x

  • that proves Freddie is THE BEST SINGER IN THE WORLD!

  • After this show you can lose you eyes, you'll never see santhing fantastic like it!

  • i was at that show - great memory

  • damn this would be a killer concert to get on dvd/blue ray

  • Does anyone else feel like they're on the best drugs imaginable??

  • Excelente joya de la Reyna!!!!

  • this is pretty rare, fuckt up but rare, spare the stoned

  • wow. it's the same effect they used on Get Down Make Love. what is it? some harmonizer.

  • DDL

    Digital Delay.

You can get really nice ones for reasonable cost as guitar effects (e.g DOD stero Digital Delay). Check eBay.

  • I know the repeating is a delay but that weird sci-fi sound it's making... seems like something besides pure delay.

  • Yeah... I think that's something like a flanger (?)

I'll have to try to google for samples of audio effects.

  • I know what a flanger sounds like and that ain't it. It is some weird modulation that is probably not a stomp box. Might be an Eventide (you know, the $2000 box most people can't afford).

  • wikipedia has an rticle on sound effects, but so far I haven't found any audio samples so I can listen through and find out for sue.

  • I'm pretty sure digital delays weren't even a thought back when Queen was doing this stuff. My guess would have been something like a Roland RE-301 tape echo. I used one back in the 70'-80's and you could speed the tape in the machine to get sounds almost identical to what you're hearing. These machines are so rare that when I sold mine in 06' I got six times what I paid for it in 78'.

  • @JetBlue42

Brian May was supposedly quite an electronics wizard - it wouldn't surprise me at all if he built a delay from a tape recorder.

All it would take is a continuous loop and the ability to adjust the speed.

    And creativity.

  • There's a great chance you're correct as I agree that Brian May was for more than just an outstanding guitarist. If you're a Queen fan, as I am, check out "Classic Albums - A Night at the Opera" DVD. The answer might be found in the bonus material. (the entire episode, originally made for TV, has been posted on YouTube in 5 parts w/o the bonus stuff.) There's a wealth of this kind of information there.

  • @KanzlerM I was there. And as documented Brian uses banks of delays. On "White Man" he stopped playing and the music went on for 30 secs. He had played over himself for like a minute layering the sound and there wasn't one stumble. You can imagine what would happen if you screwed up with this kind of setup. Remember this was 77 there was not near as much tech , hell synths were still new.

  • @robinfra52

Yeah - in about 1985 you could buy a Digital Delay that would echo infinitely...

things happened fast after the late 1970's. These guys were pioneers.

  • @JetBlue42 There were analog delays then used by quite a few acts. They were available to the public in pedals. The only thing I didn't get then. Wish I had but I have my Tubes Screamer from then. Actually I do have one in a multi pedal Ibanez PUE 5. I use it for Stevie NIcks "Seventeen". So much gear so little time.

  • Freddie sounds as good as always! Great video! Thanks for uploading!

  • Brians guitar starting at 1:50 is so unbelivebly unique and no one before or since sounds or could even come close to Dr May

  • So they're running the vocal signal together with the guitar?

  • yep they sure were they had from the time they started their massive world tours the best sound system and engineers available and still do i wish they would of done that and white man live in later years

  • haha that's Freddie, not Brian.

  • i know its freddie but listen to the right side speaker you hear brians delay pedals and feedback string bending its as well as freddies singing

  • freddie iis the best

  • @canadaguy2112ca well presumably judging by your screen name ill have to tell ya that your boys from toronto are the best active band on the planet and ever since ive seen the new documantary marking their entire career i love them even more than i did back in the day

u got good taste in music my friend

  • @dadadruma jerry garcia used to use this effect during some of the grateful dead's space jams. i think May used it first tho.

  • @dadadruma sorry hit the wrong button by hitting the thumbs down , Brian May is the TONE MASTER !!!! Fucking 2 thumbs up !!!!!!

  • @rastacorey no prob bro ive done the same many many times and many many more im sure

    cheers

  • @dadadruma 1:50 definitely processes the voice, kind of like a vocoder, not only guitar. You could hear the pitch-shited vocals...

  • @dadadruma It's not the guitar. it's Freddie voice with effects. :P

  • Reminded me of 2001 Space Odissey psychedelic bit. Great stuff
