I've had this phone for about 6 months. It was good and fun at first but honestly you get tired of it after a while. It's just not a phone you want to get if you're on a 2 yr contract and have to wait the full 2 years. it will drive you crazy. I'm thinking of upgrading to the Samsung Captivate soon so hopefully it will be better then this phone, by far.
what phone is he comparing the oure to? idk cuz my speakers are fked up so i temporarily have no sound so i cnt hear the name he said if he said it. lol
don't think it would work that way. If you upgrade or sign a new contract, you HAVE to get a data plan, just like you would with the iphone. They do this so there are no "surprises" on your bill when really if you have self control and don't access the mobile web there wouldn't be any "surprises" to me this is just a way for them to make more money, and to counter the fact that some smart phones now have a wifi card. I mean, if you have a wifi card most people wouldn't bother with the datapl
i think the only way that would work is if you bought a smart phone prior to september 09...or maybe if you bought it used. not sure exactly, talk to someone at att
Why are you looking to get a smart phone and not wanting to pay for a data plan? Having a phone with all these features is pointless if you dont want to use it for date i.e. internet, email, etc.
I would re-consider purchasing a smartphone if you will only use it for texting and minutes...
@rexatar You can, but will be penalized with fees due to change of contract. Trust me, just go with the data plan for 30 bucks. You can at least tether that way with a laptop/etc. if you ever need internet in an area without wifi.
yea, i know "wifi" is free but i just wondered if at&t charged for it. I actually got the samsung impression, because not at&t requires you to purchase a $30/month data plan with any smart phone they have... which really makes the wifi useless.
Why would someone want to get on a free wifi connection when ur paying for the mobile net. I personally would want to make sure i get my moneys worth...
Q: I use a smartphone today. Does this mean that I need to sign up for a data plan?
A: If you purchased a smartphone prior to September 6, 2009 and are using data on a pay per use basis, you will not be required to add a data plan at this time. However, data plans let customers take advantage of browsing the mobile Web , search, advanced e-mail capabilities, applications, games, music services and more without the worry of bill shock; we recommend that all smartphone users have a data plan..
I used this phone at an AT&T store, I gotta say, Windows Mobile 6.5 on this phone is frustratingly slow, and I found myself choosing the wrong programs and such. Next to it, was the Samsung Solstice, and wow, I'd choose Solstice over this any day. Faster, more responsive, precise, ease of use, etc. Ofcourse this cant be compared to the Solstice since this is a business phone, but I'm just leaving my opinion over the two.
i just got the jack, the phone awesome, i really like it. This phone is a major upgrade from the blackjack 2 which i previously had, fast processor, good texting and all that good stuff. Im really liking the HTC pure though, i am considering getting it around christmas time and selling my jack. Nothing wrong with the jack at all, i love it, but the pure is nice as hell, i think. Ill probably pass by the at&t store a few more times to try it out to make my final decision
yes, to be more specific. resistive will work with your fingers, a stylus, gloves - basically anything that can compress the screen. the resistive touch-screen detects compression, while the capacitive touch-screen detects heat, so using cold fingers on a capacitive touch-screen wont do you any good, and of course using something warm with also work
Ok, for one, this phone is a bit of an upgrade to the original TD2 because it has a higher res camera, 5mp vs 3.2mp. Plus imo it looks better, the back of the original TD2 is pretty plain and is still glossy plastic which scratches easily...
That adapter is FUGLY! WTF!!!! Why must GSM go and remove something that is essentially stock on the original phone? Verizon do I see you in my future?

Q: Does the policy apply to current customers who upgrade their device?
A: Yes. Activations and device upgrades going forward require a smartphone data plan.
vistaway3008 2 years ago
so you can't get this phone without a data plan?
rexatar 2 years ago
no... any smart phone you get from att after sept 2009 requires the monthly data plan of $30 per month. lame. especially since it has a wifi card..
vistaway3008 2 years ago
can i not just like pay the data for a month then get rid of data and still have the phone? that would be alot nicer

did you get from AT&T? if you got aftermarket, its super fast, responsive. and maybe you just have fat fingers.

Resistive is for like using a stylus or at work if you have gloves on. Capacitive is if you use your finger.
