may i just point out that palesine is a generic name of the land bordered by: Saudi-Arabia, Syria, Mediterranean Sea, and Egypt.
None of the arabs in palastine are native, they came about 150-200 years ago from saudi-arabia and other arabic countries like Iraq, Egypt and so on to work for the Ottoman empire.

@jacovc1986. The Golan is part of Syria. Yes the west bank (J&S) is no longer claimed by Jordan but it was part of that country until 1967. However J&S is not part of Israel either. If it was or if your government thinks it should be then why not annexe it? You can't because that would be illegal, just like the occupation and the building of the settlements. I can understand the military, economic and political reasons why Israel took the Golan and J&S but that does not make it right or legal.

You propogandists may fool some of the people some of the time but that's all. where is the UN on the bombing of the Kurds by Turkey, the massacres in Syria and Egypt, Darfur for a start? let me just say, that even if we assume that israel breaking laws, we should never forget who is the bad side of the story, to my opinion, is the Islamists that want to take it all, and a tiny jewish state is too much for them to bare.

@jacovc1986. Yes Hamas are terrorists and islamists are scum. However Israel has acted as a recruiting sergeant for the terrorists. The PLO is a deeply corrupt organisation and that is why Hamas is on the rise. Until Hamas and a majority Likud government get round the table there will never be peace. If history has shown us anything it is when the hawks make peace it lasts. It is unfortunate that Israel's current fractured political situation precludes any serious peace moves.

It is not allowed by international laws and after apeal to israeli court IDF stopped using this weapon.
about the biasing part, the BBC and the Guardian are extreme form of biased media against Israel.
Most of the western media is biased and this is proved by some international reports

I have to pay the bbc over a hundred quid a year for a tv licence in England otherwise I cant have a tv, they are blatantly biased and have admitted this as have some of their better paid stars, thankfully orla guerin whom was 'in your face anti israel' was sent elsewhere eventually but jeremy bowen whom replaced her is not as in your face but quite subtle in his anti israel stuff. bbc Panorama on the flotilla was unusually honest and upset the pallies as they were not expecting it from the bbc

@peterpedant No, simply someone who has seen news coverage in various countries by various channels, and which came to the conclusion that in general, the BBC are one of the more unbiased news outlets world wide and are very careful when covering the middle east, for what I assume are historical reasons.
Sure, the are no fox news, but they do often try and present both sides, and ask both sides just as hard hitting questions when appropriate.

Nowhere are there records of either discrimination or oppression of Jews under Buddhism, Hinduism or Zoroastrian religions throughout the millennia.

You are being a little disingenuous if you refuse to acknowledge the Christian crusades of the high middle ages and the inquisitions? during the Goa Inquisition from the year 1552. Portuguese invaders in the South India committed massive atrocities on South Indian Jewry in the 17th Century. None were committed by Hindus.

cont.. the difference of course, as I have always maintained, is that NONE of these acts can be paralleled with the teachings of Christ. In Christianity, it wasn't the religion that needed to be reformed, but the church; what Jesus preached was good. Thankfully the church reformed and we no longer see displays of the kind previously mentioned. The Qur'an however has a 'read only' lock on it and thus can never be reformed.

Yes, you are right, there was a prosecution against Jews in Europe during middle ages. It was unfair and stupid at the time. Jews had been loyal to the countries in which they lived, they worked, payed their taxes, and contribute to the development of our countries. I've always said the expulsion of Jews from Spain, in 1492 was a terrible mistake & an unfair decision; actually Jews had financed the war against Muslims (the Spanish re-conquer).

They destroyed Constaninopla ( the East Roman Empire) Crusades against Muslims were a defensive war of the European Christian culture against the threat of Islam & an attempt to recover the lands they had just conquered. There is a black legend about them, but they were the way we, Europeans awoke and faced Islam, and made them go back.

The Inquisition was a disgusting institution which had no positive aspect and which was used as a way of threatening and killing people for several reasons, (not only Jews) and was absolutely against Jesus teachings. There is no historical reason for it. Jews, as a minority, have suffered prosecution along history, and the most horrible thing is that they were never a risk. Anti-semitism is an illness which should be stopped worldwide, but unfortunatelly it is increasing.

What prompted the Crusades are never mentioned in Islamic debates. in 1009 A.D. the Fatimid Caliph Hakim ordered the destruction of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, & for almost a century Muslims steadily made encroachments on the Christian presence in, & access to, what was for Western Christendom the Holy Land. A million European Christians were kidnapped, brought back to dar al-Islam, enslaved, often forcibly converted. The Crusades have to be understood in their full context.
