This was broadcast, wasn't it, with the late and deeply lamented Donald Gramm in the title role? Gramm amd Bacquier were the best Don and Leporello that I have seen.
Bravo Monsieur Bacquier!
thank you gabriel!!!! hehehe, he send me some autographed photos few days ago!!! viva GABRIEL BACQUIER, one of the greatest french baritones of the centuryyyyy
Yeah I checked the libretto sometime after the post (year ago btw) and found my mistake. unfortunately you can not edit posts here, I don't speak or understand Italian, but i do love opera and i knew he was musically off on that beat. Next time try to be more tactful in your comments though. God forbids that you come across as a self molesting low life oblivious to civility in conversation.
Perhaps, but it is too awkward of a timing to have a rubato no? The fact that he has to look up also means it might have been just awkward positioning on his part...still, such a minor blemish for such a great open hearted performance.
I liked this. His voice is powerful and warm and his face is expressive, almost as if he was wearing a mask lol :) he also has a rustic presence here, which is perfect for Leporello.
lov' him

It's the best rendition of the crual character of Leporello I've seen. Excellent singer and excellent staging.

Who is Donna Elvira? Could it be Julia Varady? She looks a lot like her.

You can also search him on Youtube and he performs an awesome Don in the finale. It's breath-taking and frightening at at once.

next time try to be more informed/educated before pointing out the mistakes of great artists...

Are we sure it's not a bit of rubato? Hard to imagine a flub in such a spot.

... in reference to the "osservato" slip, as claimed by spinningwheel below.

What's up with the subtitles? The "translation" is more poetic licence than anything else.

Bacquier was also a wonderful DON PASQUALE at the MET.

I prefer this one to Bruscantini's version.
I didn't knew Bacquier, thanks for posting this.
