Eddie is the true master and innovator. He raised the bar a mile high back in '78 when Eruption first came out. People were absolutely floored by his playing at the time because it was so groundbreaking. You have to remember when Eruption first came out the fastest players around were Jimmy Page and Tony Iommi etc. (Nothing against those guys either - they are both also great) and I'm not saying Gilbert isn't an amazing player too but it was Eddie V. that blew everyone's mind back in '78!

@MrDoochebag: Sure, easy to tap 30 years after it was recorded. But how many of us could COME UP with something as brilliant as Eruption, from scratch...in the freaking late '70s. I'm still waiting for someone to top that solo. Even with all the amazing players out there, no one has done it. No one. :)

@skrason Err... Eddie himself said he didn't really come up with tapping, he was just the first person to employ tapping in that manor, tapping has been around for hundreds of years, violinists did it. Eddie just took it to another level.

I read some comments where people say " that is so difficult to tap, amazing!", then I said that it is actually very easy, and that the 8 finger stuff is whats really hard. I did not really mean that the melody would be better. Although I bet with a beautiful chord progression 8 finger tapping could be more than just "shredding".

@CaveraYMacaco99 I know what you mean bro, when I started to practice this song, I found it weird that the part that sounds the hardest and the coolest was actually the easiest to play. Thats one of the things that I like about guitar playing ; you don't have to be quick or supergood at playing guitar to sound good. : )
