  • it's doesn't need to be 100% wool. Its better with mix because after the hand wash if it's 100% it would shrink so much terribly & miserably every time you wash. If you have 100% it's better off you go with dry cleaning. it would not shrink. however if it's in a survival wild set up you do need to wash your wool blanket with hand & water for hygiene reasons. therefore, I prefer thick 80% wool little mix with some other material woven with it.

  • these blankets are not 100% wool

  • When I was in the Navy there were a lot of guys that broke out in rashes because there were allergic to wool.So they had to put on a tee shirt first then the wool..for shocks they would put on a real thin shock, then they would put on the wool shocks

  • @mogges1 it's because of chemical or mites they bring out from the dry cleaning or the warehouse . just bring that to good normal dry cleaning place.

  • ATTENTION!! Make sure you find out if you are alergic to wool before you use it! I found out the hard way when I slept with one (for a week but thats a long story) and ended up with a rash for the following 2-3 weeks.

  • @Vyppaaa11 wool allergies are actually to the chemicals on it or to the dust mites. kill dustmites in very hot washing machine water with 1/2 cup baking soda and squirt of dr bronners soap, then air dry... ALSO on a dry wool item (wet item in dryer would cause major shrinkage, but dry wool item fine), place blanket in dryer machine for 50 minutes... cooks the lil critters... You will be AMAZED... works for "de-allergizing" Down blankets/pillows too...

  • SO many people think they are allergic to down or wool, when its really the dust-mite critters !! and/or moth chemicals ... baking soda and dr bronners soap ... several rinse/spin cycles also good to help with the moth ball chemical/smells !!

  • @4712guest Well, when I had to shape my beret (brand new from the package) my hands and patches of my head got the same rash so I'm pretty sure that I'm alergic. You may be right, but not about me. I even found out that my grandfather was extremly allergic to anything conatining lanalen (ya, I can't spell). But thanks for the input

  • @4712guest You are right. many surplus stores carrys mite with in the store & it's from all over the world....lol Better wash at dry cleaning place or wash them with borox to kill the mites at home.

  • Swiss is the Better Blanket. The Italian are sometimes Moth Ball Smelling. The Swiss are great quality and shape

  • I bought 6 surplus blankets that smelled horrible. A run in the washer with a double dose of woollite and a line dry took out all the smell.

  • @outoforder2day lol alot wool horror stories ..looking for a perfit wool blanket

  • Which is better, swiss or Italian?
