  • i wanted to see a chow chow, not a demon bear

  • CHOW N:-(T HAPPY

  • Its chows like this that give the breed a bad rep. Its all on the owner, not the dog. I have been and raised chows since the day i was born, and mine where never aggressive. If they were to show their teeth, it was out of protection, thats if they didnt like something about the person. I grew up in a pet shop with them running loose inside and they never attacked someone. People need to stop giving Chows a bad name and just grow up.

  • You must teach your dog to socialize... that sense of protection is wrong... look his fur need to be brushed and nobody dares to brush him because the dog is too agresive... actually chow chow are very docile but owners become that dog in neurotic

  • i have a chow chow mix she is the sweetest thing ever she is named tiana and i am 12 and she has NEVER bit me she only nibbles on my hand when we are playing she is the best thing i had ever had she is my clueless wonder!!! :3

  • I have a chow chow and there are 5 chow chows in my family. They are brilliant dogs. They have a bad reputation, but they aren't aggressive they are protective. They don't turn out like the dog in the video unless they weren't socialized when they were young and weren't trained properly!!!!! Chow Chows are BORN, RAISED AND BRED TO BE GUARD DOGS. chow chows are protective as long as they were socialized as a puppy and are trained well they will turn out to be the BEST DOG you will ever have!!

  • 3 years ago an stupid couple ask me to wacht their dog for 2 weeks and never come back for it it was just plain vicios my wife wanted to get rid of i have toll her no cause is a good gard dog better than my staffy well today a guy jump over the fence cornered the guy until police arrives i wasn't home and yep it does that too he thinks the fence is his secod time he goes out for the family i love that dog even when he sometimes do not said the same

  • To all the well meaning but idiotic "dog lovers" who say "it depends on how a dog is raised." or "it's not the dog, it's the owner", please stop.

You are doing a disservice to all the wonderful breeds that need the proper care. Not acknowledging that there are breed characteristics and some should only be in experienced capable handlers, leads to this. I own and love Chows and they should NOT be taken for granted. Couple with this clown owner and you have worse than a loaded gun.

  • The decline in popularity of this breed has improved breeding. The greedy profiteer breeders are gone; the legacy breeders are still around. Chows are a breed apart. protective for sure. Born GUARD DOGS. The animal above used in the capacity portrayed is fulfilling it's inherent breeding. Personally I would only buy a Chow that is social and can be socialized as a puppy.

  • i wanted to get a chow chow....this changed my mind, so thank u :D

  • @akwesasne6pride lol if you want a chow chow get 1 they are no deffrent then any other dog i had a shepherd chow that i just had to put down the only thing's that make dog's deffrent are size it just depends on how you train it every dog will bark or bite anyone if they are a threat its like a kid he can be nice or be trouble depends on how he is brought up i've had a shepherd chow, norwegian elkhound, and a dog was mixed with a coyote. not any of them were bad and i loved them

  • @akwesasne6pride if this video changed your mind im sorry chows are protective but this person was tormenting the dog and who knows what happened to it in the past. Ive had chows my whole life and none have attacked anyone they are amazing dogs and wonderful companions i wish you would change your mind back to chows if you have any questions feel free to ask

  • @wrx4life44 I completely agree with you,I have had Chows my entire adult life and have never had one bad experience with any of them...they are extremely loyal and do not show affection in the way,say a Golden Retreiver would,HOWEVER...they too have been unfairly demonized in the press, just like the Pit Bull. If either one of these breeds of dog do anything good, you NEVER hear about it,just the bad stuff...It is always the owner, not the breed of dog.

  • chows are not mean dogs i got my daughter one after she was bit by a dog n she loves it.they r very nice dogs!

  • made in china

  • they come from a country where people eat dogs. at ancient times, chows were led to battlefields. that's why they're so 'protective'... tell you what: never trust a chow. an unfortunate friend of mine happened to trust her boyfriend's chow. they became 'good' friends. after six mohts of friendship you could almost call them brows! result: one day the dog woke up in a moody way and she ended up with more then 50 stitches all over her body.

  • my chow is a son of a bitch but he loves me

  • Same here.. I'm a musician so I'm gone a lot.. Never have to worry about my wife being alone.

  • Chows are my fav and are very cute but those fuckers do not play. my grandmother has owned several of them, one was a cat killer and would actually stalk and kill about 1 cat per week, usually cats that would wonder into my grandma's home. He was vicious but a sweetheart with the members of the family. very protective and territorial. The largest one she over owned would climb a latter to the roof of her 2 story home and stand tall and proud just watch over the street.

  • i agree, if your quite unmistakably the alpha of the home, they are the best dogs ever!! but will take a mile if given an inch!!, i have a red female, and she is a fab dog, so clever!! and no-one can come to our door with out her telling them they're not welcome! ... but is truly all bark and no bite lol

  • Imagine no fence OMG...anyway chows are wonderful dogs just know how to train them.

  • I had a chow for 10 years. He was a lovable teddy bear. He definatly was protective of me. But never agressive. This video shows what ANY dog can become without the love and care they deserve.

  • good example of how tenacious and fierce chows can be(if provoked). My friends dads chow once fought a bit bull and the chow screwed the pit bull badly.

  • reminds me of my chow.whenever anyone gets within five feet of me shes a ball off fur and two inch teeth after the person nearrest me. :3 i love my fluffy body guard.

  • my chow would have destroyed this one, mine had about 3 almost 4 inch fucking teeth! and a growl that makes your heart go like your about to overdose on coke, and he was so fast. im so fucking proud of my beast, my best friend i can trust.

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!

  • @DRcaprice Bro, you have a Chow your biased. Get an Akita, then state your opinion. Thats the way it is.

  • Comment removed

  • omg

using the chow as a guard dog would probably be cruel and unusual punishment for trespassers XD.... woe to the burglar who knows absolutely nothing about them and mistakens this ball of fluff for just that

  • i love chows i think mine tried to be a killer and he was scary but now hes just a lump losing time with him:(

  • Of all the dogs I've came into contact with chows are probably the most protective and territorial. If they do not know you they most likely do not like you in the least bit.

    I love them :)

  • This would never in it's life be one of the best dogs you could ever own. A Chow? gimmee a break. I seen one of these ugly things try to attack a little girl. It was brutal watching her family Akita kill it. Seeing that & knowing the story of Hachiko easily let me know what the best dog breed is.

  • @Skcit420 chows can be it just takes an understanding owner and there not ugly

  • @Skcit420 there are chows that can easly out do akitas, dont be so closed minded you cock sucker. yeah, i know akitas can fight bears, so can chows. plus my chow is perfect, not the fat and scrunchy ones, but the one that looks like half bear and half lion, and he is really intelligent. so for you to say that shit, and not ever owning a chow yourself, leads me to belive that you have no fucking idea what you talking about and might have made that story up to sound like your akita is a badass.

  • @Skcit420, You couldn`t be more of an ignorant idiot.....I have owned both, and both breeds are as good as it gets..Chows are one of the best breeds to own though, but not for dumbasses like you...

  • Had 3 chows, and one of them was mean as hell.....She was my favorite though, miss her.....

  • he doesn't seem happy

  • chow's are worse than pitbulls. Pitbulls have bad names because of their looks, and the media. Pits with loving owners, and good training/handling won't harm a dandelion.

  • Kurdish kangail is most big dog in the world

    & most srogner

  • Holy fuck...

  • Don't let the anti-pitbull nuts see this!

  • those canines are big. Not just long but big! I remember when Chow Chow's used to be the number one "evil" media dog.

  • @beginnersgambling my chows where real big. i saw him growling at my uncle, and holy shit he sounded like he can freeze people with fear, and his teeth where real thick and long.

  • @DRcaprice

i live in Taiwan and they still have chows for pit fighting. They cannot on average compete with the APBT anymore but some still do sometimes hold their own even in professional dog fighting. Chows in China and Taiwan are still bred for the business. They are serious guard dogs and I'd have a chow as a guard more than an APBT as pit bulls can be too trusting a Chow on the other hand is very suspicios and extremely loyal. Nice dogs after bull terrier types they are my favorite

  • @beginnersgambling chows are in my heart, i had one and what a beast he was. the perfect dog, and they are long living breeds, up to 18 years.

  • LMAO HAHAHAHA thats great

  • Fuck that dint look scary at first!

  • best dog ive ever had.

  • That doesn't look like a full chow to me . . . looks like a mix that hasn't been trained or socialized. You shouldn't get that reaction unless you are threatening their owners. Also a chow will normally not bark if the owners are away, they'll lie in wait.

  • @Caite33 You're 100% correct. As with any dog who's been properly socialised (i.e. take them for walks and allow them to interact with humans and other animals) this behaviour is unthinkable.

If a chow is left to fare on its own then you'll end up with one very aggressive completely disobedient dog. It's not a breed for anybody.

  • i grew up with a chow chow since she was 2 months old. Not only are they the cutest dogs ever but they ae also very strong, protective and loving. We did have to be careful with her around guests she didnt recognize but oherwise she was the best dog ever!! and yes they can take down pitbulls and rotts

  • el perro mueve la cola la parecer le tiene panico a la camara

  • man i want this dog now i heard he can kill a pit and a rott ive definitally got to get this and its cute my mom will totally go for this little demon sweet! (not cazy i just dont like my little bitch dog a shitzu poodle)

  • damn that dog is more pissy then a weak bladder

  • When i bought my chow chow he was 3 months old and he was so agressive that no one could touch him without him biting them (he was pretty big) he is still like that but he only lets people that he knows touch him ( i can do anything i want to him that he wont bite me though :) i kinda like it that way

  • You failed at training him then, that's how the breed was bred to be as a protector over their master. But todays society does not need that.

  • @FoochaChan

depends where you live doesn't it lol

If you live in Albania or Causcus then it is needed lol

  • The person taking this video was probably either a stranger or an owner who didn't train the dog well. I'm going with the former.

My best friend's sister has a Chow, and he was really great with regular guests that he's got to know since he was a puppy. But if you were new or haven't been over in a while, he was very aloof. He had to approach you first, otherwise if you tried to pet him when he didn't sniff you first, he'd snap.

  • I would love to have a chow chow... I am just in love with it :)... but.. I've heard that is a little expensive to buy one.. so :(.. also it's difficult to take care of them... but I think it wouldn't be a problem because I love dogs :)

  • I am thinking about getting a chow chow. Can someone tell me what i should do to keep it from being mean and biting people, i want it to be protective just like the one above and to people it dont know but not to me and family.

  • Comment removed

  • Lots of love and attention.

  • @45doby56 you dont have to do anything, they are just naturally like that. My chow is not trained to be a protector, but she does it anyway because of her nature

  • This show show can easily be owned by my Rottweiler. :D

  • I highly doubt that. rotts can fight some, but I have seen chow`s take them down with ease.

  • chows r the best.. n yes they r very prtective dogs.. n ur stupid for shootin a dog that wasnt urs..

  • If I saw you do that I would shoot you!!!

  • My chow is like that if someone he doesn't know enters my house alone. but when that person is with me he doesn't mind at all

  • Chow Chow is not for protection!!! Sell it to someone who really cares about his fellings!!! mY Chow chow would never do that!! You criminal!!! Im sure that kind of dog shouldnt act like this!!! Feed him or her cuz it is not sure at the normal weight!!!! You bastard!!!

  • @AnaArsenie

Chow Chow was made to be eat by human. Does that mean that we should eat them ?

  • no , only in Asia they eat Chow chows , maybe people do in United States but as far as i know i've never looked at my dog as dinner

    (MakkovicQC)

  • @123Megasavage my point is that we should not alway use dog breed exactly for what they were made.

  • @AnaArsenie are you retarded? chow chow are great protection dogs. Its not cause they didnt feed the dog, their probably just testing him out to see how it acts to strangers.

  • The primary function of a dog has always been to provide a service to humans in some form and Chow dogs were actually used for fighting and protection. This dog is doing exactly what it has been trained to do for centuries. We humans also had natural god-given protection instincts before the libtard, politically correct facists brainwashed people like you into acting contrary to the instincts of the force that created you.You are an insult to the true predator strength and character of humanity.

  • u idiot...

chows r a great protective breed!

my old chowchow (may she rest in peace :[) was so protective... one time, my parents put a sign on our garage door "do not go in!" and a guy was installin our windows... he went in and our chow was in there and she bit his crotch xD so yea -___-"

  • @thesillyfool

My chowchow, licorice (because of his purple tongue) he was the friendliest, yet a slight wuss to our family, we huggled him and cuddled him, even sometimes used him as a pillow, but if he sensed if any of us were in danger he would go very protective! :3 And I miss him soooo much, sense I nearly grew up with him.

  • @thesillyfool owned

  • Just watching the first 2-3 seconds of this video clearly shows this is not a full breed Chow Chow what so ever. Watch his/her tail at the beginning... see how high it sits? A true chows tail is almost pinned down on his/her back. But still, this is clearly an abused and not well taken care of mixed chow-chow... who ever recorded this also show his/her stupidity for aggravating the dog as well.

  • i think it might be a neighbors dog or something. but if it's not...for your dog to have you that much you have to have abused it somehow.

  • the SPCA should go over there. if you have a guard dog that's fine, but this dog looks mistreated

  • Judging by the appearance of the Chow on this vid, i can tell that it is not being taken care of very well.

Also, Chow chow is one of the best guard dogs, although they don't look like one. This dogs if trained and socialized well is a very great dogs. However unwanted strangers should not be fooled by its cute appearance, even the most friendliest Chow chows are still fierce guard dogs

  • Chows are naturally vicious... I breed chows and each litter I have had always fight each other by the time they turn 8 weeks old... its their nature.. its in their blood!! The Chow is the ultimate guard dog.. there isnt a better guard dog available to mankind and if provoked they make one hellacious opponent

  • I love chow chows and have had them for more than 12 years. Mine are trained and socialized and the best, sweetest babies. I take them to dog parks and they visit friends and are one of the most loving animal companions. Any dog who has not been treated correctly with love and discipline acts like this--from chihuahua on up to great dane. It's not the breed. So ...what could it be? Hmm. I wonder.

  • How the f*ck have you treated this dog?!

    Have you abused him/her?

I've never seen ANY chow-chow act like this..

they're always calm and just bark if someone comes to enlight the owner that someone is comming.. never seen them attack like that.. that's wicked..

my chow would never do that :/

  • Then you should have seen my old chow, she used to attack me and other little kids as a puppy! Some chows chows are just born vicious....and well let's just say she grew up a terror and would growl, bark, and chew away fences when people were near. She didn't even like the whole family just one male member. Dogs have different personalities I guess.

  • That's a lovely way to make a chow seem horrible, so damn stereotypical. Chows, when trained and have very lovable families, not owners, families; are wonderful family members and when needed they will protect those whom they love. Their just like every other breed, if they don't have a lovable stable home and are constantly abused or abandoned, they will become more aggressive.

I suggest whom ever posted this, should take it down. It is quite offensive toward families who have chows.

  • :')

    hes cute

  • I had a chow that was very very vicious. we literally couldn't have people over the house because it constantly tried to viciously attack everyone that wasn't a family member. They are loveable dogs, but only to those it grows up around. Anyone else is in serious trouble.

  • Yes, they are cute. I think they are the ultimate guard dog. Aloof to the point they will not take food from a stranger.

Great dog, perfect, docile. They must be trained and shown whos is the boss!

  • why would you torment your dog like this? good work dickhead.

  • chows are good dogs they just need training if you dont they'll become lazy, adorable, but lazy. the chow i had befor was very protective and strong but thought that people were trying to hurt us so he was very protective of our family. but the chow we have now is fluffy and lazy but i don,t care i think hes cute, keep a chow trained

  • Comment removed

  • "you come to stare at the beast" XD

  • i meant used in wars... sorry lol

  • if a dog does that their ususally provoked

maybe thats why they only showed you a part of the video

chows were used in ward aLONG time ago

their great dogs very protective, and if you actually take the time to educate them they are great companions.... i have 2 :)

  • I love chows, I owned one when I was young. He was very friendly. Everyone told me chows are mean dogs, I had friends come over scared of him because of past experience but they found out my dog was gentle, lazy and sweet. Only thing he would do is bark at people, I would yell at him and he will just look at me to figure out what he did wrong.

  • Chow are a strong willed bread. They are fabulous dogs. THEY ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE. If you want a cute cuddly teddy bear and that's how you plan to treat your dog, don't get a chow. If you know how to be the alpha, are fair and balanced, this will be hands down the best dog you'll ever have and you will never want any other breed. This video is an accurate representation of what a chow can turn into if you don't know the breed and what they require.

  • @Bedfordoak thats not true chows can be cuddly etc, depends on how you raise them, don't give chows a bad name i have a 5 yr old female, that i got when she was 1.5 yrs old, she has no mean streak what so ever , i have owned 4 chows all together, the owner is responsible for how the dog turns out in most case, i saty most cause some are mean streaked and you can't change them. they can be vicious protectors and like mine big babies, mine has never even snapped.....

  • @Bedfordoak ,... dude i bet this dog was abused. Dont be silly.

  • @jmangonepro nobody abuses a chow like that, there is no handling a pissed off chow you dumb shit.

  • @Bedfordoak Um. Right.

  • @Bedfordoak Not every chow is a very protective dog. I had a chow and it was a "cute cuddly teddy bear" because we treated it that. Depending on how you treat it as a puppy it will think either it has to be mean and vicious to get its way, or you could treat them another way and show them that being sweet is all there is to it.

  • @Bedfordoak They are the best protectors too. When I was a kid, my chows would let me know that they are bigger and not to pull on them, but still be very gentle with me. When I was babysat, they would sleep at the top of the stairs and wouldn't let my babysitter in the room once I had gone to bed. They are very loving and amazing dogs, and if you take proper care of them they will do the same for you.

  • @Bedfordoak MMMMM BREAAAAAAD, CHOW BREAD!

  • wow, my dog never does that.

  • wow...when i saw the puppy it was soo cute and lazy ,,,,,but this!! its scaryy .....should i buy it?!

  • my chow used to put her teeth in the fence and pull it.She was very territorial

  • my chow chow only put on a fierce first impression

  • Chows are natural guard dogs. Very serious and uncorruptable. I've owned rottweiler, bulldogs, shepherds but I never observed a deeper hostility towards strangers than with the Chow Chow. Currently I have a couple of black ones. The male is almost 3 years old and, I can tell you, nobody can cross its territory. Never bark, never disturb, in case just attack with no reserve.

  • i do the same thing when ppl try to put me on cam ....lol

  • these dogs protect their place...so if someone goes there with bad aura...they feel the danger and attack...they are guard dogs...THE BEST DOSG !!!

  • my Dog does that sometimes.

But Chows Have the Worst Temper

  • and they say non-working dogs

  • lol some chow chow did that to me lol!

  • stupide

  • video stupide

  • Chows are so under rated when it comes to badass dogs. My old Chow was 90 lbs and solid and scary as hell. Love the breed, especially big ones.

  • That dog can change with Cesar's help.

    hah :P

    (Cesar Millan)

  • dangerous dog

  • O_olll

  • i tell you that dog will never change

  • how is this to be described as :-)??

This is a neglected dog who has got cause to be this aggressive. Poor dog. :-(((

  • Poor thing has matted fur and is dirty! no wonder he is angry :(

  • i picked up a stray chow, 3 wks ago, it was really hungry & curious, and eventually hopped in my car. she's not very affectionate really but sweet dog, slowly warming up a bit :D

  • can u make a vid of the chow u picked up

  • it will take a while but i bet you she ends up getting really attached if you treat her well and you will have a friend for life

  • Chows can be very sweet- but if the owner brings them up to be brutal, they'll be damn scary.

  • totally right mine is the nicest dog i ever came across so lovable creature

  • like any dog, if trained to be mean it will be. Chows are no different.

  • My neighbor growing up had one, I'm pretty sure it was all grown up. It was one of the nicest dogs I ever met, It talked me a few times playing, which is saying something cause I was like 6'0" at the time.

  • my dog is part chow...and part german shepard....I am never afraid of anything when she's around

  • there like pits they are protectors of they owner and space

  • i must agree, my chow has already killed about 3 rabbits and put a hole in my pits face for eating his food.... but other then that his just a big teddy bear

  • yea but pits most of the time turn on there own owners

  • Its not their nature....its their owners. Its a problem since pits are such popular dogs with such bad people, as well as people who don't know how to raise dogs. People who want to have a dog and treat it like it owns the owner needs to stick with small dogs :)

  • yea its because theve had stupid people for owners like u...every dog is unique and if u treat it right it will have a great personality but most people just take that chance away.

  • u callin me stupid

  • no im saying im beautiful.

  • lol

  • even though those dogs are not the biggest buy you can by the reatction of this chow that its not afraid to attack because the dog came forward.

if a dog is barking and runs back, you can tell that they don't really have the guts to protect their property.

  • Thatj's really speculated. And actually chow chows are one of the most dangerous dogs to have b/c they REALLY don't like strangers. If a dog leans back, or runs back, it is usually confused about what to do, not necessarily afraid. Chow Chows are more serious minded so don't fuck with me is what the one in the video is saying.

  • well my chowchow is nice to everybody lol

  • Of course! I am speaking in general terms. The true chow chow is a serious minded dog who doesn't like strangers (it's really hard to catch a stray chow chow b/c they get really aggressive), but doesn't mean you can't make it a social butterfly or whatever, y'know.

  • Yep that's my chow alright. Barks and runs.

  • lmao....my chow is exactly the same...

  • i don't know what kind of chow you have, mine charges and never runs away lol. killed a couple racoons and possums and scared away some meth heads haha.

  • Comment removed

  • I had a dog that was half chow chow and she used to be kinda like this. specialy after she had her puppies. you couldnt even go into the back yard. lol

  • Cute, but deadly. LIKE A CHIHUAHUA!!

  • I have a beautiful chow and I love him to death! He would never do this to anyone, the only time i have seen my chow do this is to my brother, my brother teases my poor baby and its clear that he doesnt like my brother in return. The only way this chow could be like this is if this was a stranger filming this and the chow was protecting him territory or whoever filmed this must have teased the poor thing and upset the dog before filming this

  • Comment removed

  • Actually Chow Chow dogs are really fierce with strangers my family had one everyone that visited us were scared of he, but they are also very protective and loved us too much. Great dog for a family.

  • i disagree with that i have a chow chow lab cross named grizzly and hes a big baby! I think you have to prove yourself to them though. grizzly had a rough past and at first wouldnt even come into the house.

  • Sry i ment to write "I have" not "I hate"

  • I have a chow pekingese mix. she is small but will let you know if someone is near the house. She growls but is more Pekingese than chow in aggressiveness but reserved with strangers like a chow.

  • Well then u must not have raised him right if he was growling and snapping at anyone who came in. My chow in never like tht he barks two time then walks away, but, for example, one time I was walking him down the street and a little girl(I didnt know) ran up to him and he snapped at her because she suprised him, so u must not have raised urs the right way.

  • Well maybe I didnt teach him manners lol but it his protectiveness was actually a good thing for us, because he scare away unwanted strangers like sales-mans or jehova witness on sundays lol

  • true lol about the sales-man and stuff

  • I own a red chow and I have 5 little boys. He has never attempted to bite any of us. If I let you in the house he will leave you alone as long as I'm there, but I would'nt want to come in uninvited, because he can be agressive toward strngers and he hates other dogs. He is well trained and knows his place in the higher archy of our family. Even so he weighs 70 pounds and is quick as lightening so I still watch him close even thow he fears me. A dog that big can do great damage to a kid.

  • chow chows are the best but don't confuse their cuteness for weakness. They will attack you if you push it.

  • I'v owned a couple of chows and the one i have now wont let anybody so much as touch him other than me. Hes a GREAT guard dog.

  • I beed chow chows ok i have a pure black one a golden one and a dark brown one and none of them are agressive besides my black one BUT he is protective thats all he dosent like new ppl give him a day or 2 aroudn you and hes fine with you

  • I had a chow mix once that was a street dog, coolest dog ever. Never aggressive to my family, but i was walking him one time and another stray dog came and acted aggressive towards me, and my dog LITERALLY bit the other dogs leg ALMOST OFF. It was hanging by the skin and muscle.

  • did it die?

  • Yeah, unfortuneately animal control had to come and took it to be put down.

  • oooooooo nice guard doggie

  • martmania61 they can b trained and good dogs but i kno my friend took good care of it and it had never met me or anything and it bit me 2 and it only ever bit me and i never did anything 2 it and they never did anything 2 it and i hate hearing bout these animals being put down but i guess alot of people cant handle them its really hard 2 cuz they luv being dominant and on top i kno its sad cuz dat dog could be very good but they sed they had 2 get rid of it but it bit me 2 and almost stitches

  • You were acting like a fucking faggot then. You type like a fucking retard, so much so that even I am inclined to bite your neck and tear your throat out.

  • I have a chow, rescued from the streets 9 years ago. We have trained her from day one to know that WE are in charge, and she has never challenged us. She is "aloof" like cats, but she knows her place in the pack and has NEVER been aggressive to humans- even when my 5-year-old accidentally trips over her in the hallway! In fact, she is very protective of him, and "guards" him wherever he is in the house, and even checks on him during the night. It's all about the training.

  • I agree with you.

I have a beautiful blue chow who is the sweetest sweetest thing in the world. He would never NEVER behave like the one in the video, yet he is extremely protective of me and my family.

However, I did know a friend who owned a red chow who was mistreated when he was a pup. Staked out in the yard, hit, pulled on, simply not treated well. Notice what the dog in the video is being kept in. This is not the home chows are meant to be in.

    THIS IS A SAD VIDEO.

  • This video proves absolutely nothing in terms on Chow-Chow behavior. So if a stranger comes up to a dog and holds up a strange object at him and doesn't move or saying anything it's OK? Or better yet, lets whip an animal for peeing on the floor (wrong discipline action) and when it runs to a corner or another room lets follow it, pin it and keep on hitting it until it bites us. THE DOG IS SCARED AND WHEN THEY ARE SCARED THIS IS WHAT THEY DO. Why is is so fucking hard for retards to realize shit?

  • i have a chow and been taking good care of her for 3 years. I believe Chows are a very intelligent breed. They know if you have bad intentions or not. She mingles to all the family members very well and behaves well to our guests too. But rarely she wanna be touched by people she just met. These breed as cute and cuddly as they look, don't wanna be "squeezed, hugged, etc." but if you're their master you can do it as long as you like but just don't expect something in return...

  • For those who say that the breed is non agressive are also contributing to the Chows demise as well. When you purchase your Chow. Owners should know that breed. They end up being to much to handle. They bite and are put down. Ask any Vet or groomer or animal rescue. Their not cute little bears. They are the lion dog. The were bred to guard the Emperior. Know what they are.

  • I am a women and I've own a few Chows. You have to be a savy chow owner. Yes they are by most part have a very mellow personality. But do not take it for being non agressive in anyway. They are by nature and breeding a guard dogs.Having a reputable breeder does help when choosing a chow. SPCA hates chow calls to go on. Allot of these poor animals are put down because of bad ownership and lack of Knowledge. Capitalizing on this breed and there agression will be a death sentence for the animal.

  • Wow !!
