hello,  I got 3ds Max and Maya just so I can write something on the curve surface of a cylinder imported from AutodeskInventor2012, I really don't have time to watch all the tutorials...could somebody help me? I bet it's really easy.

good tut. i'm thinking of doing this for the koopa shell i'm making for my semester final in my intro class. I was gonna loop the outsides of the hexagon-like shapes on the back side of the shell and then chamfer to make the extra polygons and then just extrude
