good film, I will surely watch it till the end when my exams are over! But what an beautiful Jean Valjean!!! If I was Cosette, I wouldn't need Marius anymore :p :p :p
thank you so much for showing this great film, one of the finest of all time, the two performances of march and laughton have to be rated as perhaps the greatest confrontation of dynamic acting in film history
I am french and I liked this american version of the novel of victor hugo" les miserables".Jean valjean's actor is really good. And rochelle hudson as lady cosette is very pretty and shiny.Good version.I read the novel in french of course but this version makes me improve my english too and listen to american.Quite nice.
I seriously do not like this Javert. I think that either the Javert from the 1932(which is the best imo) or the 1978(which is the worst imo) are the better Javerts. It's a good ValJean though.
@LordotRingsgirl -- ditto that. This Javert seems in many ways like the antithesis of the book Javert: he seems like an overly anxious, insecure, ready-to-snap case of arrested development, and he's a trembling, sweating, doughy man, not the sort of person you can imagine stalking down an escaped criminal with a precise, ferocious, animal glee. He also seems compelled to explain his thought processes to EVERYone, instead of NO one. Sacre bleu.
does anyone kno if they made a movie musical out of this? i read the book and saw the musical last summer and ive seen this movie and the 1998 movie. but sadly, i wanna c a musical movie of it but idk if anyones ever made one :[
For me the best version is from 1978 with Anthony Perkins as Javert :). I very like this Valjean :) But in my opinion Laughton is worst Javert ever. Anyway thanks for upload :)
The best adaptation *****

This is the first movie I ever saw in English. It remains my favorite film adaptation ever made of Les Misérables.
