Earlier in the episode he said "Everything is fine with Gina (his then girlfriend). It's ordinary. Problem is I don't want ordinary...I want...magic."

Here he gets caught in that 'magical' moment with Beckett, snaps back to reality to realize that she is what he wants.

End of the episode : he breaks up with 'Gina'.

'Nuff said.

Actually, with Castle's reaction... I think Caslte and Beckett have switched the "roles" that they normally play in these types of scenes. It used to be Beckett that would 'quickly turn away' when she felt emotion towards Castle (you can even refer to Castle's novels - preferably Heat Wave - to see the same moments happen with Nikki Heat). Castle is now the one trying to conceal his emotion from Beckett... I'm assuming it's b/c he knows that Beckett has a boyfriend right now. I could be wrong.

In the past there has been a lot of teasing by both of them but I think maybe in this case, it was the first time that he may have really been tempted to kiss her and really felt the connection that has been there all along, so intensely that it freaked him out. That's my take anyway.
