  • What a really strange voice

  • i dont like your voice. but i admire your intelligence.

  • @nightreaper999 I don't care, back in the university years I have professors with all their normal voice teaching me, they did't achieve much IMO. Given a choice again I would want this man to teach me, you have no idea how extremely fabulous is his math skills and his insight to modern physics. But I have an impression that he dislikes lecture times, this man is all research.

  • you can just tell when he hesitates at 0:58 that 5 million equations just went through his head in eleven dimensions.

  • This guy is the real Dr. Manhattan.

  • QUACKADOODLE TALKING ABOUT A QUACKY SUBJECT. LOL. PARALLEL UNIVERSES ARE FICTION.

  • Ed Witten is so unbelievably smart, it is scary. If you watch the string theory Nova specials, even the other physicists look at this guy like he is beyond human. Probably one of the most impressive minds in science since Einstein and Newton.

  • @Diomedes01 You should be careful about jumping on the string theory bandwagon. But what you say about Ed Witten is true.

  • @boogiebuddy01 , well, afaik tachyons are really just a term for particles moving faster than light - so if the neutrinos are found to do just that, I guess this would make them tachyons as well. More on wiki under Tachyon.

If you want a real physicist explain about the neutrinos, you need to look no longer than Youtube and Brain Cox (just search for "Brian Cox neutrino").

  • lol this guy is a fcking robot

  • @spsiman alright Einstein

  • @x1x2x3ct Luckily we physicists have spasman around to set us all straight. 8)

  • @spsiman oh god, leave it out.

  • @spsiman

where did u get your degree? youtube university?

  • @spsiman Nonsense it may be, but without we have no chance of making sense of it all.

  • @spsiman Have you studied relativity? Do you know why the equations work? Because you are completely wrong about much of what you said. Your saying that we have relativity etc because we didn't understand the physics so went to making equations? Re-think all of that.

  • @spsiman Photons interact with neutrons (and other hadrons), not just charged ones.

  • @spsiman yea too bad the real smart physicists like you are busy trolling the youtube comments

  • @spsiman "relativity, QFT, string theory and all the other nonsense"? are u retarded or just fucking around?

  • @spsiman Did you watch the video before posting? I guess not. Next time you decide to eviscerate science, maybe choose a less spurious video. Oh... and look up "spurious", you fucking philistine. Kill yourself parasite.

  • Maxwell also believed that light was an oscillation in a real medium known as the aether, so he started with the answer he wanted - a wave model of light & finally created the math that had this form. Einstein did not dismiss the idea of an aether, he simply developed SRT without using any explicit properties of such an aether (he did use the speed invariance which implies that the 'springiness' of the aether is universal).

(Part 2 - to be continued)

  • Witten retells the orthodox story. A more radical view is to recognize that Maxwell only proposed a statistical theory that had no fundamental significance but had the advantage that it only required a single (universal) time parameter, like all the other physics theories (this new math model is known as field theory).

(Part 1 - to be continued).

  • I can't say I understand everything Ed said but I think it's wonderful we are all learning, including scientists.

  • Wow Ed, your smart... but next time, write all this down and have Morgan Freeman read it for you!

  • @nckey42 i like his voice.

  • @nckey42 Not only is that funny as hell, but you couldn't have recommended a better person to read it either - well... except maybe Mike Rowe! LOL

  • Wow Ed, your smart... but next time write all this down and have Morgan Freeman read it for you!

  • Brilliant, thankyou for sharing these!

  • Yeah, thanks for posting these vids dude.

  • freak

  • Thank you for posting this series. Edward Witten, the super-genius of our time!

  • Truly great series of vids ... thanks so much for posting :)
