  • I keep expecting that voice to tell me to put the lotion in the basket.

  • so its pure silver? wow its beautiful how much did it cost to do cause I wanna try to do it on a bit of a larger scale to make a bigger crystal

  • If you were to do this on a larger scale and over a longer time, could you grow a noticeably larger pice, or is there some sort of equation?

  • Man you have everything!!

  • Great video! Thanks!

  • beautyful ! :)

  • Law School can suck it, Chemists get all the fun.

  • Can this be done with copper?

  • @GizmoTheGreen I dont think so.

  • Fantastic! I am SO impressed! Where chem and physics meet. I can't wait to try this for m class. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and making it quite clear (I think) on how to do this ourselves. cheers!

  • I'm meant to be an electrical engineer but when I watch this I realise that there's so much more to learn.....please oh master let me come and learn the darker arts of electroalchemy I promise to be a very astute pupil....!!!

  • so how about a week with this? i could be rich?

  • 7 people are gold.

  • How the hell do you change the hd thing in the new youtube layout??

  • @Trebgah it's a little gear in the bottom right corner :P

  • it's 4:39 am here in monterrey mexico... i'm still up because of this awesome channel :)

  • Do you just use water for your solution, or what?

  • Alchemy!!!!

  • Thats so cool

  • What happens if you crank up the voltage?

  • MONEY!!!!!!

  • @simon06rho You would lose money. The amount of money from the silver obtained is less than the amount of money the silver nitrate costs.

  • @Aviatorsmith Actually, you could sell the crystals to mineral and metal collectors for a decent profit. They would especially be valuable if you could make larger, sturdier, well shaped dendritic specimens.

  • ok...im subscribing now, your vids are freaken awsome T^T

  • Imagine this huge scale.......

  • 7 dislikes

    gold loves perhaps

  • very nice man

  • I love you nerd rage :)))) Your voice is soooo awesome

  • @minxel16 I love him more......................

  • "This video hosted by: Dr N. Butyl Lithium." I see what you did there.

  • Im not good at science\chemistry but i like waching and learning about this keep it up ;]

  • how much silver is made? it's $80 for 50 grams of silver nitrate. if i used all 50 grams how much silver nitrate would be made? that sounds like a math question lol

  • Comment removed

  • can you do this with gold at all?

  • @ciararavenblaze profit.

  • @ciararavenblaze its kind of hard to do with gold because the only way to get gold in solution is with aqua regia

  • @killdynamite that's what I figured. kinda disappointing, isn't it? XD

  • Can this kind of crystal foming experiment be done with regular metals? like iron or copper? Or any other regular metal?

  • SICK! :D

  • is there anyway to "easily" make a metal crystal that would be safe but also large enough for me to say put on my desk? because that would make a really cool paper weight XD

  • @vashxux maybe using alot more of the liquid and a higher electricity volt?

  • What happens when you double the voltage? (Without resistor)

And what happens if you use AC voltage instead?

Post Script. That was awesome! :D

  • @Neslakim Doesnt work with AC, almost no electrochemistry does.

If you dobule the voltage you get double the speed, and double the heat, and double the problems.

  • is the silver actually being created or 'taken' from the silver wire? in other words, is new silver crystals being created?

  • @LucidusOriensAstrum The silver is ''taken'' from the silver solution

  • @LucidusOriensAstrum

I assume you've been to school.

Now please remember the laws of matter.

You can't "create" it. C'mon guy. Alchemy isn't real.

  • @SmashMasterFox Alchemy is technically turning one element into another, not making an element out of nothing, still not feasible though

  • what is with that kidnaper voice :D

  • WOW! This is awesome! Finally an experiment that I can also do at home! Thank you SO much!

  • Fascinating. I'm glad I subscribed. :¬)

  • dude i take my hat off to you, i look through all these videos, and am am not only learning but you take it to the next level, by explaining the process in a well informed way. cheers from australia :)

  • "Now, first we'll look at the highest magnification at the tip" My ex-GF said that once to me :(

  • that reminds me of alcatraz's nano suit from crysis 2. CLOAK ENGAGED XD

  • its so bee-yoo-tee-ful!

  • Is it safe to leave it growing over night

  • It is the most beautyful video that I wach about silver chemistry.I have two questions: if I can apply these crystals on a piece of jewelry and how long it takes to grow crystals visible to the naked eye? Is this possible?Thank you verry much.

  • grow silver.. infinite moneys .. you mad bank of america >:D

  • @alien16759 THE BEST

  • @alien16759 Except the solution contains silver, so you have to pay more for it, plus the cost of the silver wire, so in reality, you're actually losing money doing this..

  • @SlimySnail44 dont stifle my creativity ... learn to think like a troll.. dude

  • @alien16759 nou

  • does it tay like in a solid for then i dont understand where the silver was put was it put into the filter bag ::

  • Can someone explain to me the corelation of speed of growing crystals and speed of creating new centers of crystalization in terms of higher and lower electrical density. And what shapes occur during which event?

  • HEY, could someone send him some gold just to make this with gold, how much is needed to do it ?

  • so when I separete silver from scap metel it stays in a liquid from ? silver nitrate? and is this the same procedure for gold

  • @loki12fx You have to emerge the silver ore into a solution that has a greater electrochemical potential. Now, the reason Au, AG and Pt are called noble metals is the fact that their el. potential is greater than almost any other substance, and therefore do not disolve, or go into reactions at all. They don't rust. To overcome such el. potential you have to emerge them into highly concentrated high el.pot. solutuons like HNO3-HCl (1:3) commonly known as the royal water (go figure).

  • @stipepok was it put into the filter bag

  • Hi...i was just wondering if can you describe your camera and microscope ¿What equipment do you use?

  • where did you get silver nitrate??????

  • could you use a copper wire as the cathode? As copper already forms silver crystals in silver nitrate solution, would using it as the cathode produce a more vigirous reaction?

  • is that silver worth money if u make alot of it

  • can this be done with copper?

  • How long would it take for crystals visible to the eye to form?

  • if you used more solution with a larger current, could you get crystals that can be seen unaided, or would it break and not form anything?

  • if in this reaction you make silver and ??nitric acid?? why they do not react?

  • Thank you great videos

  • Whats with the gay voice

  • @loldowl First your'e being homophobic, second, there is nothing camp about his voice.

  • @loldowl WTF man. everything is gay to you. GUYS CHECK LOLDOWNS CHANNEL. LOOK ON HIS COMMENTS. its gaygaygay

  • why does your voice sound like a fag bot

  • @shittart583 It's just changing it's form. You can't create a new amount of an element, or turn one element into another. That's what alchemy was meant for in history, before they knew this. You can't create a new amount of silver.

  • so it is just moving the silver from one stick to the other or is it creating new silver altogether?

  • Last night I was thinking about metal plants. Now, WOW!!! Silver Plant!!!!!!!

  • If you scaled everything up by a factor of a 100, would you also get 100 times larger silver crystals?

  • I LOVE microscopes.

  • What did you use to mix with silver nitrate, sents pure silver nitrate it a white in color powder?

  • Your videos just keep on amazing me...

  • Perfect for Christmas :D

  • why did you morph your voice

  • you rock nurdrage!!

  • This is awesome. Weird too, to see something as lifeless as silver grow like an organic tree or something. Also, I want that microscope.

  • If you up scaled this to a drum and left it for a few day's would get a bigger crystal?

  • That was amazing! I wish I had more supplies in my garage to do all of these different experiments you do on these series. You are the best in my opinion when it comes to these experiments. Thank you and keep them coming when you have the extra time for your fans! ;)

  • awesome!

  • electrochemistry

  • can we use this proces to extract silver from low qualities mines?

  • Where did you get that microscope? please provide a link, that was awesome. Iv'e been searching for a microscope that can record more than an hr. to long now.

  • Would reducing the current but raising the voltage lead to larger more uniform crystals? and would this take a long time?

  • Did you look at the anode under the microscope? I'm curious how it would look as the silver dissolves over time

  • Awesome and really interesting at the same time ! How pure is pure ? 0.99 ? 0.999 ?

  • I may have missed this in the video, but what magnification were you using? Do you know roughly how many micro-meters across each crystal was?

  • looks like a tree

  • is it possible to make crystals from any cheap metal salt?

  • so this is where silver comes from.

  • cathode is minus :) I always wondered how it was possible that current source could push electrons on cathode to reduce kations (high resistance flow through water) instead through the wire with small resistance

  • i found this really hard to masturbate with

  • @119Elite that a really good think

  • Teach us how to grow crystal meth

  • @somebrownguy07 Get the fuck out of here.

  • @somebrownguy07 lolololol xD

  • If you were to set these in resin or glass or something I would buy many. Pendants and earings. So beautiful! I'm sure there's be a away to like, magnify the encasing material (like a sea monkey watch thing).

  • So,which one is more economical and cheaper?

Electrolysis from chemical compound(melted condition or in solution) or just buy the element.

For instance, just buy sodium or buy salt and electrolysis it(in melted condition)?

  • Awesome video, now, if only you could do that with gold......or diamonds! You'd be rich man....you'd be rich!!

  • I wish I could grow a real silver tree in my back yard lol

  • why do you disguise yourself?

  • Cool video!

  • I wonder what it would take to mass produce this process efficiently. I'm guessing it wouldn't be worth it.

  • now how do you do this for gold...

  • does this cost more or less than just buying silver?

  • Brilliant! I am going to try this once I get a better microscope.

  • looks like aluminom foil

  • Probably the coolest nurdrage I've seen so far. Fascinating!

  • if silver can be created like this, does that mean that buying silver bullion will be worthless.

  • @MasonicEyes no nothing is being "created", the silver is merely plating out of solution.

  • @NurdRage How often do you get hit with the feeling that something surreal or arcane is happening during these experiments, even though you know how all of the reactions work?

  • @MasonicEyes

hes lying he is actually creating silver he is a alchemist

  • @MasonicEyes And it would take YEARS before enough silver crystals grow to create a silver bullion. You heard him say he time-lapsed 10 HOURS on one of the shots.

  • isnt a way to make golden crystals to????

  • @rovhatree Yes actually, using the gold salt its possible to grow gold crystals.

It costs a lot but perhaps someday when i have the money i might do it.

  • @NurdRage What is "a lot"?

    Hundreds? Thousands?

  • @NurdRage Is it also possible with copper salt?

  • @NurdRage How would you get gold to react producing a salt?

  • @NurdRage dude i saw your video you packed iphone 4s in 50 dollar banknots i think thats not so easy to get that money

  • @NurdRage Isn't the use of cyanide solutions required for it? Not something for inexperienced chemists.

  • @NurdRage Now can you see the silver without the microscope even when its a pretty large size?

  • @NurdRage how much are silver and gold solutions? i'm not planning on buying this and i dont know where to look. i can imagine they're not cheap

  • @NurdRage i would love to see that, it'd be so pretty ^v^ the crystals in this video are still absolutely beautiful, -especially- in HD! super job on this one <3

  • How hard would it would it it to create this on macro-scopic levels ?

  • I love a good fantasy/sci-fi story, but stuff like this just proves that no created world will ever be as amazing or intricate as the one we live in.

  • omg someone hacked your utube acc where are your gloves?

  • i want your microscope!!

    mine sucks ass :/

  • That's amazing!

  • hey can I see the result naked-eye view without the microscope plss

  • @THENOSAUR If you let it grow for a long time(3 days perhaps) you can.

  • @Dark0Lord7 actually, based on the size of the wire, these growths are probably about the size of the white on the end of a strike anywhere match

  • Is this the same as colloidal silver? Thank you very much for your time in making these videos.

  • ha ha ha an ad popped up and said,"chuck norris is a hunter.but he cannot hunt.instead he hunting.....i didnt watch the rest

  • how big can you get the crystals?

  • would this experiment be big enough to write a 4000 word essay ?

  • @yinniieetranx3 If you cover all technical aspects of this experiment then you can fill 4000 words easily. When covering the mathematical/physical description of the electromagnetic fields forming that crystals you could write 10000 or more words (at least I think so).

  • 0:13 "The setup is actually fairly simple."

*Fails to understand any of the following steps*

  • try adjusting the current

  • Looks like you making diamonds O_O..

  • will it be possible to make a "chemical garden" using silver salts and waterglass?

  • is it possible to do this on a larger scale to make little sculptures visible without a microscope?

  • Is this possible to do with other metals like Gold and Platinum?

  • Now do it with diamonds.

  • what would happen if i made a tub of this solution and inserted my silver chain would silver grow around it?

  • If I did this nonstop for like ten years how much silver would I have?

  • could you farm silver for a profit using this process? probably not lol, what do you think?

  • @MrDubstepaholic The silver nitrate would cost more than the price of silver you could get out of it.

  • @cgj151 godamit i wish you told me quicker ive got a silver farm in my basement now :3

  • money does grow on trees see i told you mom

  • Can this experiment be scaled up? :D

  • i wonder if you could super size this experiment and make it grow like fist sized crystals that perfect =D or an actual small tree or bush lol.

  • Now we know; Metal grows on trees.

    Wait... metal grows into trees?

Maybe the trees are only copying the metal...

    Anyway, awesome stuff.

  • if you make enough silver can you sell it and make money of it or will doing this be more expensive! im not very smart so i dont know this type of stuff :P

  • What microscope do you have?

  • So awsome

  • SILVER TREEEEEEEEEE

  • Ill Be Rich!

  • Other metals like gold can be grown, but its not efficient, you loose money doing it with the gold prices today and even if they were down it would still be a loss. It also has to do with nuclear fission so there is pollution :p I wonder if growing silver is more efficient than gold?

  • @xijnnijx do you mean fusion?

  • @kungmat you know theres a difference between "fusion" and "fission" and to answer for him, no he didn't mean fusion.
