  • Update: After paying for the repair the unit has stopped working again, same problem. Of course it's past the 45 day warranty period, but not by much. Unless you only need your repair to last 3 months don't bother paying these guys for the repair. I don't normally gripe about these kinds of things but this was a totally bad experience.

  • thanks guys, i have a similar problem, my Dell m1530 turns on and everything it´s ok with the video, the problem is with the backlight, it´s off anyone can help me?? please?

  • Gracias Men!!!

  • @Music4Lifecity Try to flash the bios and see if that fixes it.. If not you might need to replace it.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • think I missed it..where did you put the copper?

  • oh thank you !!! you're a legend . i was gonna fix this with almost 120 KD ( Kuwaiti Dinar ) it's almost 436.44 USD .THX Again :)

  • fuck that im just gonna get it new computer, the effort in doing all this ha

  • uugh i should of sent my alienware to these guys

  • Some companies do not like any kind of markings on their components. One outstanding story is that WD refused RMA on a in-warranty HD due to it having the owner's name on it with a sharpie. I would use post-its or tags with string.

  • Hi there i have the same achi machine could you please share the temperature curve setting you used?

  • @synergyhawk Tops at 220

    170, 190, 220

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • How come you guys only reflow GPUs? Do u guys also reball them for a permanent fix? (as opposed to a temporary fix that reflowing does..)

  • @thesloc We also reball, I will have some videos showing that process too.

Reflow with dark ir is the best reglow method and outlast all other reflows.

That teamed with the copper it works great.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • @mixcatcom What is the general time frame until they break again once they're reflowed?

  • What causes the poor solder connection that you are resoldering? Are all the board components reused and it is just poor connections? Very helpful info in this video .Thanks

  • @moosemaster2000 Well the solder becomes brittle because of that heat in the GPU. The reflow burns off any oxidation or corrosion then renews the connection.

Its very common in a lot of laptop models.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • GRAT JOB!!

  • @hoddelkind thanks!

  • Hi,

I have the same Issue with my Dell XPS 1530. Im residing in Australia. Do u guys have service center in Australia? any idea how i can fix this issue in australia?

  • @ranji4all I sure dont.. Im sorry about that.. We do fix things from outside the country all the time.. IT would be the $125 plus the extra shipping.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • @mixcatcom Have you ever seen a virus make a hard drive unreadable? It can be recognized as a drive, but has zero allocated space....

  • @boodrow24m yes, we run into them from time to time.. You have to fix the volume.. We have several tools we use to do that..

Checkdisk, Gparted boot CD or our DOD recert machine.

If you need help with it your welcome to send it our way.

    Have a great weekend.

    -Pete

  • another nice video Pete! Where did you get that IR reflow machine?

  • @onecreativecriminal

    Thanks for your comments.

I got the unit from one of my Chine contacts... It was expensive but worth the money.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • Amazing. That re-flow station has saved you quite a bit of work. If my macbook pro ever breaks, it's coming to you.

  • @Pepsifx357 We still do it by hand also but that machine ensures you never over heat a chip.. Its a better and cleaner repair.. I will get a couple more of them soon.. We are up to 4 reflow / rework stations already..

    Its been fun..

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • Wow that's quite a bit of work just to pull it apart and "resolder" a gpu. What were you talking about when you referred to using penny's?

  • @codebean Yeah it really does take some time to repair these laptops and we take our time on each..

People put pennies instead of copper to try to drop the temp but end up bowing the board and causing some long term damage.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • All the places we've talked to about some of this stuff don't repair motherboards. They want to replace the entire board for hundreds of dollars and tell us it would be cheaper to buy a new computer. I'm gonna send this to the wife. I think we got three laptops around here with issues. Two Dells and one HP.

  • @Richmunnich Really we are doing something that not many company's in the US do.. We can fix most any motherboard and I have some really good techs here too. Send it on in I will get that working like new for you.

If you have any questions give us a call 321-332-0710

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • wow i am the first one on a Mixcat video amazing. wondering if you could have fixed my 512 mb card on my Dell Precision M90 they burn up fast for some reason. on my second card now. just overheated. i usually put a piece of foam down when i take them apart and put them in the foam in the order they come out so i have a map to put them back in again. Epoxy / jb weld ? that's not a genuine dell part lol Love the XPS's shame they don't make them any more.

  • @daddytech ;o) Yeah you can even solder them back in if your iron is powerful enough..

    Thanks for the kind words..

    All the best,

    -Pete
