I wanted a cheap IPS or MVA 8bit monitor, but the review from TftCentral shows this monitor has about 61ms input lag, add onto the ping in fps games or other issues, it'll be 120ms lag at time, which is just unacceptable if you are a competitive gamer. If you can live with the flaw, it is the cheapest 8bit lcd around.
Also it is a common specification for MVA panel to lose contrast when viewing from the side, as compared to IPS panel.
lcd lag and hdtv lag has been a big problem since the very beginning... its the year 2009 and its still a problem. Most companies will not fix this issue since there isn't a lot of people that will even notice or know what display lag really is.
The dell is running on VGA, there is no digital signal to decode which can change it...also technically speaking you can't react to that speed, but you will defiantly feel it. im running a 22'' 1080p viewsonic and with my tests it has a 12 millisecond response time.
Yep I saw it. There is a 40ms difference between the two displays which may be just enough time to miss that sniper shot in your favorite fragging game.
only in the most extreme settings, most people can't even react within 40ms so it doesn't matter. I have the monitor and went from a Dell 19 CRT Trinitron monitor and still wouldn't go back. You counldn't pay me to play on little dim CRT again. LOL :) But that's my taste.
So it varies between 30 and 40 milliseconds. That's basically around 35 ms of lag which is fine for desktop applications but it may be a problem for gamers. It's a fact that all TN type LCD panels are almost always more responsive than VA panels. I just want a good VA panel that has relatively low lag.

§Yes it s 30ms comparedt to the viewsonic that is a LCD display that already has input lag.
All in all it s about 50 ms average for the DEll.
If you are aconcerned user , run away and buy something else.

i hooked up my xbox 360 to the dell 2408 but do not know how to get the audio working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

The monitor doesn't have audio, you'll need separate audio system for it.
