By my modest and humble knowledge of electron's magic ive always found Mt. Sakuma approach to amp design a logic way to treat the sound, not in terms of electricity but in the sense that a small sound as to be treated with great care and space in the first stage of an amp in contrast to occidental way that only takes care of it on the final stage. what kind of phono cartridge, tonearm and speaker is he using to play the Barbara Lee Lp...the sound is amazing

Shelter 901 cart and Dynavector DV-507, I believe. Sooo expensive. Sakuma uses Altec (vintage) and Lowther speakers. Google "direct heating," which takes you to a Sakuma fan site.

Used Dynavector 505 turn up regularly on eBay. But the deck is the important component, in Sakuma's case Garrard 401. That and a DV-505 or Rega RB-300 and Shelter 201 should be a killer setup. You need a tube amp (like a single-ended 2A3) for the Altecs (A7, Valencia, etc.) or Lowthers (don't know Lowther).

how can you tell that the sound is amazing through the video? The man builds fantastic amplifiers, but you cannot evaluate by an internet video and garbage computer speakers, it's an offense to Mr.Sakuma.
