I grew up in the COG and I remember when the power of God fell at Campmeetings and people were filled with the Holy Ghost. I haven't hear or seen a COG campmeeting like that in many, many years. There were some spiritual giants. Now we have many puffed up business men talking about "growth".

what are you talking about?? cancer??? i live in brazil and you don't even know how fast church of god is growing, pleople here get 1 hour to get to church ON FOOT!! and you keep judging about "Something can't be dead if its growing". please pray for us, the church of god you never saw, but its not dead.

And the LAZY, SELFISH AMERICAN CHURCH has been "growing" like crazy the past few years because of NUTS like Joel Osteen! Tickle their ears WHILE THE WORLD GOES TO HELL FOR LACK OF TRUE GOSPEL! I pastored a COG and the Holy Ghost moved, people were saved & healed and God did miracles. A new pastor came in and started using "psychology" instead of the BLOOD. The church DIED!

It tells me something when this question even has to be addressed. When you stopped preaching the necessity of the Holy Ghost, it dried up. I know, I used to be one of your preachers. Thank God I saw the Truth of ACTS 2:38

Church of God is dead compared to what it used to be. In fact a Chyrch of God minister ran a revivel at the church of God I came out of and said the Lord told me to prophesy to you you are stone cold dead! Which we are. We got rid of our dress code and started dressing like the world. We brought this so called gospel music in that is no different then rock and rap itself. Also, now we're letting these top name Charasmatic "preachers" preach at out main campmeetings. May Jesus help this church!!!

Dude, I can't believe the spirit of judgement going on here. This man is giving you statistics on the growth of the church worldwide. Something can't be dead if it's growing. Dress codes, and standards are a matter of opinion. There is a difference between doctrine and opinion, Before you judge a churches effect based on your "interpretation" of the bible, what ever version,. Make sure to study the Greek and Hebrew right after you pray for wisdom and knowledge.

Ok. First and most important. I didn't judge. You don't just when you state direct facts. To quote you "Something can't be dead if its growing." The Catholic churche has been the most popular and largest denomination for year and still continues to gain. Are they alive in Chris? Nope Brittney Spears and American idol continues to grow in popularity and 1,000 flock to see them. Are they alive in Christ? Nope. By the way, I wouldnt me caught dead saying the word of God is a opinion.

Hey, were you one of the stone cold dead? Do you think we should go back to the days of the Romans and wear togas? Actually, unless you are reading from the Greek or Hebrew, you are reading a translation or an interpretation. The english language is limited in comparison to the Greek and Hebrew. The matter of modesty depends on where your heart is and YOUR opinion. I never said that Gods Word was an opinion. I said YOUR interpretation of it is your opinion. Wipe off the dust and read it.....

As a matter of fact there are some catholics who are alive in Christ. Do you believe everything your church puts out as their statement of faith? I have an opinion on Brittany, but I don't know her personally so I will refrain from commenting. I would ask that before we verbalize our assesments as to someones heart we should first pray for them. Someone once judged you and me. We were guilty. Someone else prayed for us and by God's grace, we have been made clean.

In the end, it is God's judgement that counts. Not ours. There is no one church or believer that has it 100% accurate. I wish that I did have it down exactly as God wants it. Maybe He could have been a little more clear about the scripture. Or, perhaps the men who were translating the Greek and Hebrew could have done a better job in the interpretation process so as not to confuse people of generations who have their very souls on the line.

I am not COG Cleveland, but it is not dead or dying. Christians in the USA is stuck in a rut. God has a plan in store for us. A crisis will hit the USA, but God is in control. God will energize those who were once dormant and complacent. The Laity will outshine leadership in the future, for God will qualify them himself. Too many high profiled leaders are not grieved in Zion; they have neglected their posts. They sought titles and the praise of man and not the heart of God.

The early church backslid and allowed the Roman Emperor to baptize almost the entire empire into the "Catholic Church". You talk about church growth! The COG is not a dying church. It is a DEAD church!! You let down your standards and let every Tom, Dick, and Harry in with their SINFUL lifestyles and lost the old-time power. You now have to have Rock n Roll to prop up your corpse. The Baptists can beat your statistic. They prove nothing! Wide is the gate and broad is the way.

Hey Troy, the early church wasn't in big cathedrals. The early church were the believers who happened to meet in homes or wherever they could. Music by todays standards was primitive. An organ was considered a luxury. I happen to know some spirit filled Catholics. They are the real deal. Not all priests are perverts. We can disagree with eachother, but if a person believes that Jesus is the Son of God, that person is a brother or sister in Christ. We should rejoice with the Angels in Heaven.
