Free energy technology exists! But the Oil coporations life depends on covering this up,Get a REAL working magnet motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Join the energy revolution!
Solar, Wind, and Tidal power are not efficiant enough to use realistically yet. We shouldn't waste time/money bullshiting with those, we should use the cheap, effective, plentiful resources as we are using them (or as we were using them) Untill we have breakthroughs with other energy. (Such as clean coal, more effective nuclear, possibly fusion, or even just more efficiant solar/wind.
Air Recycling Technology if used in Vacuum Cleaners could save annually in the UK, an amount of energy equal to that generated by 800 Medium sized wind generators.
This is based on tests made for the DTI and MTP.
That is 1.5 TWh of electricity worth £225 million and 650,000 Tonnes of CO2. And a saving of more than 25 Twh of electricity annually is possible in the EU. Equal to £3.25 Billion pounds and 13.5 million tonnes of CO2 emission.
What happens when oil production peaks, stagnates, and then begins to drop? All the while demand increases exponentially. I foresee future wars and famine.
But what does EUSSR do when Russia cuts its energy supplies to various regions, or shall I say republics, in the EUSSR state? The Russians will not have a missile-defense shield and interceptors in Eastern Europe, right at its doorstep, and have promised to take appropriate actions if the U.S. and these EUSSR republics do decide to implement such a defense system anyway without any care for the Russian national defense interests. Will U.S. and EUSSR be at war with Russia and China over energy?
Come on Britain and Germany, you guys need to man up and build some Nuclear power plants. France has done it for the last twenty years, if the FRENCH can do it you should be pretty bloody ashamed that you've failed to, are the French just that much smarter then you that you don't trust yourselves to run a few modern reactors? 20% of the UK's energy comes from Nat.gas, you can run cars on that. What a waste... not to mention the CO2 released.
Europe uses oil for 80% of its energy now in 2008. In 2108 it will be 0% because there will be no oil left. Every second there is less oil, and every year more consumers for it. Where is the transition, from this doomed energy source, to something sustainable?
EU is no.1 in sustainable renewable energy. EU produces whole 50% of energy from wind. Also europeans have tradition in massive public transportation system, its faster to take bus or tram instead of car. Though US transportation is based on cars. No massive transportation system.
I think that Norway will pray to be member of EU when the oil will be over, think about other generations, don't be selfish and more funny is pround of that
I think not. Norway is the third richest country in Thorium, so it will soon be used, and also know that Norway today has saved up to 500 billion dollars from oil money (know that norway has only 4 million people; that's a shit load of money) that will be used in investments once the oil is gone. Norway will most likely become more like sweeden at that point, an industrial nation. Besides, you can become a rich nation without natural resources. look at switzerland.
It is my belief that the European Union should have energy pipelines linking North Africa and South-West Asia with Europe through Morrocco,Tunisia, and Turkey. The energy of Iran,Russia/Siberia,and ex-Soviet Central Asia should be pipelined towards the economic development of all Asia.(Incidentally have you thought of becoming the Eurasian Union?).The energy of Angola,Nigeria etc should feed the African Union economy.
The video is good. Clear and well made. It would have been good to have captions identifying the talking heads, and maybe some simple graphics displaying the figures stated in the narration.
I don't think the stability of a country is entirely relevant in terms of energy security. Of course if a country is in chaos as Iraq is, that is a problem. But what matters (in practical, non-ethical terms) is whether the EU and its member states can negotiate with them and buy resources. The ethical questions are, sadly, somewhat separate though equally and in some ways more important for the citizens of Europe.
Daxuro, what do you mean by "stable"? To my mind, the Ukraine and Georgia are stable, but they have iffy human rights records. Much like Brazil, which treats its native peoples very badly when it comes to extraction of resources. Is Venzuela stable? Saudi Arabia? Nigeria? What about Algeria and Libya? Russia is a democracy, as much as Brazil, Ukraine, Georgia or Venezuela... is that country stable? If so, why did they cut off the energy supply?
If we want to get rid of Putin, we should develop our alternative energy sources and technologies, because gas and uranium in the Union come from Russia and petrol comes from fanatic muslim countries.
the really only way to cope with the problem is to base on alternative energy sources not on unrenewable sources like oil/gas/coal. i mean this in long as well as short term. in very short term we should indeed support Ukraine and Georgia in coping with "East Bear" which is so acustomed to empire reality that wants prolong it on XXI century...
i find it strange that this video didnt even mention norway, norway is the third largest oil exporter in the world and got huge gas reserves... has eu forgotten that norway is not a member of eu????
Hopfully now E.U. with new elected Sarkozy and Merkel gonna change this friendship policy towards Putins Russia and make actual movement in securing Caucasus region from russia's destructive role in Ukraine's politics and also in conflicts of russia with Georgia and Azerbaycan.
If Europe realy wishes to get independence from Putins Russian gazprom mafia Eiropean commision has to help to new democracy's in Ukraine and Georgia which are importantest country's in so called Transcaspian energy coridor, alredy in 1994 U.S. had proposed ti E.U. help in diversification of energy market but E.U. was under russia's strong press with help of Chirac-Schröder-Putin "friendship".
Seriously how stupid our politicians are by using money on coal and oil when we have the technology to supply everyone with free renewable energy?

That is all good and well, but only the last 10 seconds of this film mention the real, long-term solution: Renewable energy sources.
Mankinds two hundred year old addiction to fossil fuels is bound to end sooner or later because these sources are all non-renewable.
Furthermore the consequences of destabilizing the energy household of our planets ecosystem are unforeseeable and potentially very damaging.
