Hello Mr. Daughtrey . Wonderful Song! I am gonna purchase to play myslef. I was just curious what kind of mallets do you recommend using for it? what are you using in this video?
@wispfan341 Thanks! I'm using Vic Firth Gary Burton mallets in this video, but lately I've been using the Ney Rosauro Signature Series (two M225 in the left hand and two 226 in the right hand).
@Duminillide Thanks so much! I'm using Vic Firth Gary Burton mallets. The Yamaha 4-1/2 octave instrument has a very bright sound and projects extremely well. As with most vibraphones (and marimbas, for that matter), the mallet choice has a great effect on the quality of sound in the lower end. Using too hard of a mallet in the low end results in way too many overtones and less fundmental.
@marimbasass Thanks, Jeff! I wrote it for a 3-octave instrument and that's how it's published, but since I have the lower notes, I figured I should use them. I have indicated the optional low notes in the publication as well.

@CaseyCangelosi Thanks, Casey! Are you still up in Concord? That's way too close to Greensboro not to hang sometime.

@nhdaughtrey hey, Nathan, yes we should! How many hours away are you? We should swap master classes maybe?

Beautiful playing, sound really clear and well balanced; what mallets do you use in this piece?
p.s. I never heard live a yamaha with extended range, about the low note is the sound projection good as masser?

That is a very nice piece and melody that stays in your head for awhile. Thanks for posting! Do you need a 3.5 octave to play it or just a 3 octave?

Sorry for the less-than-stellar video quality.
