SO many dumb asses that think you need a $1000 PC just to run games lol $600 and you can have a PC that runs everything just fine. Also no you don't have to upgrade every year and you don't have to always buy the newest graphics card that's out. I believe most PC gamers will agree with me on this.. We enjoy building/upgrading are PC, making them faster and better, its a big hobby. And its a hobby that is you know you're shit. You can make a lot of money out of doing simple shit.
@AlexanderEddy That was such a good comment, thanks for wasting my time to read it. Pc player aren't better, and a gun is a pointing device? ... interesting.
Yes, PC players are better. A mouse allows you to aim like a gun, because it's a pointing device. Your joystick isn't a pointing device, so you can't aim as well. For this reason, pc players will always have better aim.
This is ignoring the fact that the players with the best movement always play pc.
@Bl4nkB0x You can't even spell naive. Let's ignore my point about mice for a second.
Do a youtube search "Portal Speedrun." Portal is a puzzle shooter available on both Xbox and PC. If I'm right about the best movement being on PC, then the fastest completion of a game available on both PC and console should be a PC player, right?
Another point; who is America's most financially successful fps pro gamer? It's probably fatal1ty, a PC gamer. PC games are consistently more competitive.
I'm aware of the game having played and watched both speedrun and walkthrough of the speedrun. In regards to best movement the speedrun consists of several glitches and the current world record was tried hundreds possibly more times over. Therefore you take in to account the player over the console as the difference does not matter. Another point, xbox gamers are payed an extreme amount of money, and host some of the largest tournaments around if not the largest.
The same Portal exploits are possible on Xbox. Everything done is possible on both console and PC, the fact that it was done on PC is a testament to the higher skill ceiling of PC games.
Xbox players don't make nearly as much as PC players. The largest tournaments are exclusively PC games, and the game with the largest prize pool is StarCraft 2, available only on PC.
If PC players could play vs console, it wouldn't even be close
@AlexanderEddy yes but it would class under what I group together as grammar police. It's youtube, not an english exam.
Yeah clearly, cause that arguement makes sense, the guy played the game thousands of times over to get that time, meaning it's a testament to how good he is, not how good the console is. Keep up. Starcraft 2, LOL. LOL. LOL. Pc have played console, shadowrun, console won. Good game.
@Bl4nkB0x No, it's not an english exam, but if you call someone naive and spell it wrong, be prepared to be called on it. The fact that he did it on PC is evidence of the higher skill ceiling on PC games. Deny it if you want, but he couldn't have done that using a clumsy console controller.
Laugh at SC2 if you want, but it's the game with the largest prize. Shadowrun isn't a competitive game seen at tournaments, and it certainly wasn't pros vs pros.
@AlexanderEddy Why should I be called on it? Does it make you feel better pointing out my english mistakes on Youtube? Sad sad person. The fact that he tried it thousands of times is evidence to the player not the console.
Look at black ops and the route that's taking, (i have little to none interest in sc2) xbox is getting updates about the game, where pc and ps3 are still laggy as hell. Wonder what platform is favoured there.
@Bl4nkB0x If you knew what the word naive meant, you'd know why you should be called on it.
The fact that Xbox gets updates first for a single game doesn't mean the players are better or the skill ceilings higher. The only people making a living playing video games are doing it on PC.
Console shooters aren't competitive, with the exception of Halo.
@AlexanderEddy So i don't know the definition i just called you it randomly? Yeah...
The skill "ceilings" are higher for fps. They're are plenty of pro's making a living of tournaments and mlg games on xbox, please check your information before commenting.
Console(xbox) shooters for fps, eg cod are the only competitive platform. No other comes close.
@Bl4nkB0x There are pros making a living on Xbox, but it's a small number compared to PC gamers.
The fact that SC2 is the highest paid competitive game destroys your assertion that console shooters are the only competitive platform.
There are significantly more pc tournaments than xbox tournaments, and the prizes are always larger. Counter-Strike 1.6, a 10+ year old game and StarCraft: Brood War are good examples of how PC games have more longevity because they're more competitive.
@AlexanderEddy the point i made was meant to be about cod, no starcraft or counter-strike. As they are mainly only pc games,(not sure) so in regards to them being better on pc that's obvious. A multi-platform game which is extremely popular on ALL platforms, i.e. Call of Duty, xbox clearly triumphs.
@AlexanderEddy ya well some people dont like to have to pay 1000$ dollars just to get a good setup to play cod4...not many people have that money and xbox takes more skill than pc when it comes to fps games id like to see you get perfect headshots and shit with joysticks instead of a mouse i played cod pc it was 10x easier to get kill than xbox cuz the joysticks set you at a disadvantage and you cant be as precise dont get me wrong tho counter strike is amazing and takes ALOT of skil just sayin
@WhatWoodSatanDo Price is irrelevant here. You're saying that Xbox takes more skill to aim because you use only your thumb instead of your whole hand. I say that's retarded, because everyone playing on PC is using a mouse. If everyone has a mouse, then everyone is on equal footing, and the platform that becomes most competitive is probably the best. PC games have always been the most competitive, and always will be.
@Bl4nkB0x price is very relevant i dont wana pay 1000$ to play some games and what im sayin is take a pc gamer who hasnt played xbox n hes the best pc player at halo or shadowrun n throw him on xbox against the best xbox player, the pc gamer would get his shit pushed in but you take a console gamer and put him on pc and he could actually do good cuz pc aiming is easier
@WhatWoodSatanDo well you can get a gaming system for about $500-$600 so, for about $100 more you could effectively get a general-purpose machine that can do more than game in TRUE HD (and unlike the XBOX 360, you can actually use teh internetz :P)
Before you ask, I have an XBOX 360 plus a PC containing a GTX 460, 8GB RAM and a 22" 16:10 monitor. Guess which one I'll be playing.
2nd post: One of the biggest problems with console FPS games is that 99.9% of FPS games on consoles are plagued with some kind of aim assist, sticky aim, auto aim etc to help players aim better, since its the only way to compensate for the lack of accuracy an analog has compared to a mouse. Many PC gamers despise such a feature and tend to stick with PC FPS since no such feature exist. If the analog is so much better then a mouse, why is it developers have to put in aim assist?
@aolish aim assist is because analogs cannot get the accuracy of the mouse. Ask any good 360 player and they know this. The point why i think 360 controllers > k/m, is drop shotting capabilities on some games. And overall buttons around the hand. If that makes sense?
1st post: Let us all be aware that the fps genre started on the PC first. Not consoles. The native preferred way to play FPS games is on a mouse+KB. The FPS genre was DESIGNED around the KB+MOUSE and had to be modified to work with an analog. When things are modified to work with something they weren't designed for, problems can arise. One of those problems is the lack of pin-point pixel accuracy that an analog lacks compared with a gaming laser/optical mouse.
The FPS genre was designed around the keyboard. Back in the day, people played keyboard only. They adapted the mouse for some degree of movement, the first controls even had 'mouse movement.' Yes, move by moving your mouse. Absolutely brilliantly useless. The problem isn't adapting it to something non native. If you had gamepads with these controls back in the day, people would have been fairly impressed.
@aolish so for halo which can be considered a fps, or the new cods which are no longer built purely for pc. Where can the problems arise? for Cs and early cod lets say then you have a point, but i feel you no longer do.
On Shadowrun, I doubt that. Using a controller on a PC game however, there is no doubt who the clear winner would be. Mind you, I won a couple of matches on FEAR using my 360 controller. Obviously they weren't the best players, but they were still using mice...
Yep. Microsoft's gaming sector doesn't seem to advocate cross-platform gaming between the PC vs. Console, because they know that a measure must be added to benefit the console players. Some auto-aim is added for console players in Shadowrun. It's there to help them against mice-wielding foes. Also, Valve has stated that cross-platform is possible for TF2 right now but Microsoft gave no reply.
I do miss doing lightning fast turns with a mouse when I'm using the pad and sniping is alot easier, but it's really not that slow at all, and the sensitivity on the stick can be turned up.
I have this game, and it's hard to tell who is playing on what, I don't have any trouble scoring high and killing people on either platform. I like the way people assume being on a PC automatically makes you a better player. ;)
Sure, the console player got owned, but it had nothing to do with him using a controller, he was just shit.
Pc will rule over the 360 ... everyone knows that so thats why i am getting the pc version so i can play with better graphics and kick my friends ass on it
n0scope... Using a keyboard is no less maneuverable than an analog stick, it just feels different. Usually PC FPS gameplay is much more fast paced due to the precision and accuracy available with the controls, console controls often slow down the gameplay.
