Got same problem. With LawMate 500mW on 6ch FailSafe kicks in several hundred meters from base. Changed channel to 1 - helps a little but not enough...
The problem was due to my Chainlink UHF antenna being too close to my fpv camera and picking up a lot of RF 'noise' from it. I moved my antenna further out on the wing and went 4.2Km on the next flight :-)
@UKBlackBarron Unfortunately my problem is strictly VTX related as I did my tests without any camera at all. If I leave CL at home and take the plane for a walk I can go to the next town until FailSafe kicks in but as soon as I turn my VTX on RC range dies after 200-300m from home.
@UKBlackBarron Nope, I moved from RCG to FPVLAB and intend to stay there. As for the solution - I already ordered High Pass filter from BEVRC to cut out any RF noise from VTX that is lower than 700MHz and I'm awaiting it's arrival. Whether it'll be enough or not - remains to be seen. Also I found out that changing VTX channel from 6 to 1 greatly reduces harmful interference. Problem is that my friend also uses this channel and he has all of his antennas tuned to that freq so I want to stay on 6.
